Same. He's the only one from the Halloween boys I feel goes well with the main story and on par with the main cast. Glorimas itself felt like main story material.Twst can make bank if they write the guy back in please Yana please

Pen pals with Malleus. By which I mean, Malleus is sending him snail mail every week. Which Rollo burns in his little fireplace without ever reading. While suffering the eternal torment of knowing that Malleus is never going to know his letters aren't being read unless he tells him, but acknowledging the receipt of said letters would compromise his vow to ignore said lizard. An ironic tragedy repeating with the delivery of the mail every Thursday. The mail being always just the one letter because who else would be sending snail mail in a world with smartphones except Malleus Draconia.
>>
>>557801736
And it’s delivered by the student council assistant to the council room so everyone knows. They all think Rollo and Malmal are BFFs and Rollo can’t tell them he’s not reading them and is just destroying them without looking like an ass so he doesn’t say anything. And now all of NBC praises him for putting differences aside and improving interscholastic relations. And brag to friends they made at the social who go to other schools that their president is bosom buddies with Malleus Draconia. And the guys at NRC hear about it because social media. And it gets back to Malleus because Cater. “Word on the street is that you’re pen pals with Rollo Flamme.” And Malleus is so smug and proud.
And Rollo hates his life.

It makes me feel better than JP is also baffled by the lack of new novel. If they were silent on it I'd think that maybe they knew something we didn't, or the novels just weren't that popular or something, but every once and I while I see JPsisters encouraging each other to read them and joking about the next one and it's like "I fucken knew it, the novels are peak."

> flooded by shitty OOC fan content
I hate the OCslop too but I have no idea how to ask the mods to limit it. What would a rule like that even look like? "Only two OC posts allowed per day, first come first served"?
That said, I'd rather see ugly drawings of Miss Mary Suington III than have to see meangirls shit. OCs can at least pretend to be tangentially Twst related, "this fandom sucks" posts are just circlejerks of butthurt people who lost arguments on Twitter.
>>
>>
>>557876729
That'd be cool. Elementary Schooler Thursday: keep your self-indulgent crowing to one day a week.
But they'd have to phrase it as "this way everyone gets to see all of your wonderful OCs at the same time, same place, for easy access!!" cause saying "we are all tired of this cringey shit, children are to stay inside this playpen" would not go over well.

> the novels are peak.
Not the english ones. I tried to send a Karen-style email to VIZ via their customer support form asking what went wrong with the book 2 novel's translation but their system is broken and kept sending back errors. That's certainly one way to handle customer complaints, I guess.
>>
>>557884720
Last thread or so ago, there was an industryanon who said that those people don't have anyone to hold them accountable. A problem has to be big enough to get the JPHQ's attention, because localization has no oversight. Localizers are just doing what they want because their clients don't understand English, so they'll never know.
But sending a complaint via the Twst JP contact form seems tone deaf. They're both technically Square Enix but I doubt those two departments ever interact.

I wonder if there is some overworked animator out there drawing Leona's overblot as we speak to try and meet some deadline that none of us know about for the second season of the anime. Who are you, unnamed korean animator. Are you using AI. Will Book 2 continue to be cursed and awful. Tell us the secret recipe.

How many more times are we going to have to suffer your insane addiction to Reddit? Be a mentally ill retard who can't stop arguing with underaged kids on the internet as much as you want but stop wafting your shit over to the rest of us who actually have self control.
>>557872797
Seriously. It's extra funny when they LARP at being JP readers. As if somebody who actually knew JP and hated the EN fanbase that much couldn't just spend time on JP social media instead.
>>
>>
>>557908303
I have a VPN with my country always set to JP and this has worked for me for years.
>>557875429
A weekly megathread for OCs would probably tie up the issue neatly? I haven't used Reddit since COVID, but that used to be the go-to for any single type of posting that flooded a subreddit.
> "this fandom sucks" posts are just circlejerks of butthurt people who lost arguments on Twitter
And then those people apparently come here to post about it when they lose arguments on Reddit... It never ends, does it. I wouldn't go as far as >>557906776 , but I do wish these people would do something to help themselves.
>>
>>557909703
I found the thread >>557871604 is pining for and it’s one of the most passive aggressive things I’ve ever seen, people complaining about being blocked, complaining about complaining, complaining that no one understands (character) like they do. I’m betting shitter is their home base and they’re trying to drag other platforms down to their level.
On a more interesting note, did anyone notice Yana saying she’s in charge of the OB cards? She was talking about how fairy bro-bot and lion man coming out together is an amusing coincidence because she was in charge of both those SSRs. I hope there is making-of art at that exhibition that’s coming next month.
>>
>>557910631
> exhibition
Ooo I do hope there will be some decent merch. I remember at the last pop-up store, JPsisters were right pissed off that they kept running out of stock in the mornings, leaving nothing for the later groups.
>>
>>557910631
Sad... I can tell from typing style, too, that they're the same anons getting really catty with other anons at random. They're always the issue wherever they go.
Also, neat. That explains why they're so peak. After all these years, FG Ortho is still my top pick for the most gorgeous groovy in the game.
If we do get more making-of art, hope somebody sneaks some pics.

Looking at the website it's gonna be mainly Beanfest, Fairy Gala 1, Wish Upon a Star, Vargas Camp and the first and second Halloweens, so only the stuff from when Yana was doing everything.
I bet the Halloween section is going to be insane. Bring me the boys in corsets. Bring them.

Whatever makes them happy, I guess. But if someone honestly comes in here like "Actually, yes! The voices in my head are objectively superior to those of anyone else," they probably have more issues than just schizophrenic elitism.
>>
I will never get over how they foreshadowed Idia's mom hacking into his computer as early as the union jacket birthday series. I want to quit my job and comb through all of Twst content released in the first two/three years and see what else was hinted at, full time.

>>
>>557982189
It was so interesting to me that they didn't try to hide or downplay or dismiss the parents. They could have, easily. It's a fantasy world, they can do whatever they want. There would have been a few people saying "But where are the parents!?" just to stir drama, but if the parents were relevant to the story then they'd be there. If they weren't it would be because they were irrelevant, that's all. And they actually incorporated them. This is a pretty boy gacha, I would never have guessed that someone's mom and dad would have such a major role in the main story. Truly fascinating decision.

Yeah I remember hearing that he's not so popular in JP, which is why his popularity here is so interesting. I know EN's more obnoxious people praise him for the trans rep that he isn't, but it's nice to see he's got fans amongst us degenerates here as well. He's not my favorite but he is an objectively great character and I love that for him.

In the vignette, Silver was so kind and innocent! And Azul seemed so pleased with Silver, with him manipulating him and using him, and loving all the sincere compliments from Silver that are in his "promotional" video, right? Good thing was Silver, the best boy, I don't think Azul would have been so happy if it had been another character.

TL is flooded in twst and olympics and I just realized there is no like, crossover. No one drawing Azul in a figure skating leotard. No one drawing rook at a shooting range. Leona's final line in his abyss thing, he says something about having a pride all of his own one day, and I am really interested by what that means. It could be anything from a dramatic renouncing of his princehood and starting his life over again somewhere else, or something as tiny as adopting Ruggie as his found family. Does he actually WANT a family redo? Or maybe it wasn't about family at all, it was just about surrounding himself with friends and living his best life. I need a "ten years later" LeoRug update basically. It is a need.

Ashamed to admit I was afraid too, platinum jacket was a precedent and it just seemed like what any other gacha would do. Very pleased that twst seems to know what not to do though, which still surprises me. I think I just have the lowest expectations ever after years of playing other gachas
>>
>>558189134
Twst is my first/only gacha, so that probably explains my confusion at all the gloom and doom. Even if the birthday series was Blazing Jewel, there was no way it would've been worse than Platinum Jacket, that entire year of Disney jacking itself off using Yana's hands.
>>
>>558189827
I hadn't really thought about it but the birthday series all have almost zero mouse influence, I think? There are some movie callbacks in the first series but those are all tied into the characters' backstories/families. Union was about little brothers and deserted islands, Bloom was about school classes and hobbies, Loungewear was about makeup, Bonbon is about Sage's Island. I think it was really only Platinum that got all up in everybody's faces about THIS IS A DISNEY PROPERTY. And was objectively the worst one.

Also the thought of lilia finding like, a wombat and being like "Silver this is your new sibling" is somehow hilarious. Mostly cause you know Silver would have one shot of looking mildly alarmed and then be like "can those hands hold a sword, or?"

>To those who are avoiding Twisted Wonderland because they think it's an otome game. First off, Twisted Wonderland feels a lot like a high-quality TRPG. If you like TRPGs, or games like Hoshiumusubi, I really, really recommend giving it a try. The main story is just that good.
It's interesting that the JP side is having this issue too. They needed to call it "Disney's Twisted Wonderland: Not an Otome."

I'm getting nostalgic for when character songs were more popular. Imagine if with each Blazing Jewel card release they would release a mini CD that had a solo character song for those who just liked the boy, and a duet that included the duo buddy. This would bethe "look, we did an idol set finally," for the game.
>>
>>558245965
If they do this they might need to be careful about not overdoing it or making it the main content for the year, because like how people don't like otome there are those who hate idol shit too. There were already complaints popping up about how people who don't like the idol genre felt left out of 5th anniversary, only mitigated by there being at least an in-game rhythmic event
>>
>>558210358
>I wonder why they rerun those all the time.
See, I understand why they were doing it during the game's earlier years but there are enough limited SR+ cards by now, they should make it a bit easier to obtain them instead of just holding an annual event. Getting dorm uniform SSRs isn't that exciting anymore (especially if you're an old player), you can basically get Hearts/Savanaclaw for free when creating a new account for fuck's sake, there's no point in doing special anniversary banners only for these anymore.

>those who hate idol shit
That's me, and I'm still struggling with Blazing Jewel, but in a good way somehow? I really don't like idol shit. I don't understand the appeal and it all looks the same. Real-life or video game stuff, it's just not interesting and I can't force myself to care. But BJ was different and I can't figure out why. And it's not like I 100% loved all the BJ songs/performances or anything, but the fact I loved any at ALL is weird to me. I enjoyed the little in-game event about rehearsals. I liked the music videos, despite being a combination of idolshit and didneyslop, two things I really dislike. And I loved the virtual show. And I can't figure out why. Twst is always working some weird magic to keep me invested in his disney cashgrab as it is, and they took a gamble with extending that to yet another genre I do not care for, and made me care for it hard. Really weird.
So my knee-jerk reaction is to condemn Twst going in the idol direction, but I would've vetoed BJ entirely, and they proved me wrong with that. Maybe they'll do it again. Weird.
>>
>>558272752
I've looked into the woman who is in charge of Twst's music and it seems she wasn't exactly a huge deal before Twst, wasn't exactly getting a ton of work, if you catch my drift. But she is doing banger after banger with Twst and I don't know if she finally found her calling or if it's once again Yana being a goddamn goddess or what. We know that Yana is giving input and having changes made to the music, you add a sprinkle of Yana to anything and it turns into gold, apparently. Except Skate-Leading Stars perhaps, but she wasn't calling the shots, no responsibility there.

Sometimes I think about that interview Sugiyama Noriaki gave when the anime came out about how he used to voice creatures in foreign cartoons but he usually voices attractive men in anime, so voicing Grim has been nostalgic.

>>
>>
>>558279103
Yana's passion and love for her work is infectious. Crazy stroke of luck and genius that twst landed in her hands, wasn't it said before that twst was originally going to be something more akin to an idol raising game and Yana's ideas were so good they just handed it to her to handle instead? Best decision ever. Original idea would've died as fast as Star Smash, how's Mirrorverse doing now I wonder
>>
>>558305786
I dunno about the idol thing, what I've seen is that she thought she was just being asked to apply to be put in charge of character design and ended up being given the whole project instead, but she's Japanese and a Disneyfag, so there is no way she's gonna say "Disney asked me to submit my portfolio to potentially become the character designer and then changed their mind after hearing my ideas," even though that's probably what happened, so in her interview it's phrased like "I thought I was going to be the character designer only, I will not say anything about how it is that I came to that conclusion, silly me."

I was watching a clip with grim in it the other day and my speakers bugged out or something so everyone was sounding a little off, and I swear I could hear the ikemen in him. That little bastard has the voice of Naruto's Sasuke, Bleach's Ishida and Black Butler's Will. It would be so funny if they hired Sugiyama with his background of "creatures and sassy men" to be the voice of a character that starts out a creature and then turns into a sassy man. It's Twst, I'd believe it.

Holy shit I forgot about that for a second doesn’t that come out on the 18th? Yessssss just going to have it playing on loop for the first month, I am dying from blazing Jewel deficiency.
Also if subtitle-anon want to do the other intermissions that’d be super neat but no pressure.

And Real!Ruggie off to the side recording it for a paid livestream, tech stuff overseen by Dream!Ruggie. The argument over who gets what percentage of profits will be legendary.
>>
>>558408134
One of the points I liked about the dreams is how Ruggie and Deuce suddenly became good students but it wasn't because they actually got any smarter. It was a prison of their own minds, so they couldn't make themselves know more than they did, like an author trying to write a character who is smarter than themselves. Ruggie says straight out that the didn't suddenly become a model student, it's just that all the test questions were things he already knew. They didn't change, their environments just adapted to suit their limitations.
In retrospect it makes sense but I still find it so interesting. They didn't wake up and go back to being dumb, they themselves didn't change at all, all Malleus does is make little terrariums of the mind without touching the person themselves. What a neat concept.

Reminds me of the time the members of JPsis discord I’m in all decided to play Among Us in character as Twst guys. Absolutely zero of us chose our oshi, everyone chose someone oshi-adjacent in some unspoken fandom rule, it was so funny. I like to think I’m decent at writing for Ruggie but I only get compliments on AO3 for my portrayal of the autistic lizard.

Yana loves playing with genre but man do people get up in arms about it. The sports-anime-style arc in Black Butler was hilarious, and then she pivoted right into an idol arc? Funniest shit in the world, but there are people out there it pissed right off. No one lets Yana be funny. Charlatans.
Actually now that I think about it did Twst do the same thing backwards, from idol to shounen sports story with the interscholastic games coming up?
>>

I remembered that Ortho's mom built him that body in book 7 and had the thought of "hey so that was kind of like his mother giving birth to him in the most literal way she could given their situation" but then I realized that that goes both ways and would loop around to Idia having given birth to his own dead brother, so that was certainly a thought to have. I hope I looked like I was concentrating at work because I was not, was thinking of an anime-disney-boy and his mother both giving birth to the same dead child.

That's something I've been wondering myself as well a while ago. Twst seems to have a bigger presence online nowadays, many fans are dissatisfied with Enstars's current state (EN fans at least), I agree that the character designs aren't good and they arr rook the same but with different hairstyles/colors ( however let's say this one is purely subjectiveand this is a common issue with gachas anyway) yet it's still outselling Twst? Is it because Enstars music is legit good or is their japanese fanbase that dedicated and loyal?
>>
>>558510821
Theorising here but probably the latter. Enstars is an idol game and it's 10 years old? I've seen people do really crazy spending in idol culture, loyalty is part of the game and whatever we think about it now can't negate the huge following it has gathered over those years because of the bigger mainstream appeal. They have way more things to pull than twst too. Adding on my personal experience, twst feels very f2p friendly. I've seen a JP post once admitting to never spending money on it since they've been doing just fine pulling for their oshi f2p but the story was so good they decided to start paying monthly as appreciation kek
>>
>>558513397
I've never touched ENstars cause it looks shit but I agree. I bet after a certain point it just becomes a part of your everyday life. You pay ENstars like you pay your gas or electric bill. It's not a good or bad, it's just...what you do. Like a subscription.
>paying monthly as appreciation kek
I've done that too. Don't particularly NEED anything and would be perfectly fine not spending money, but throwing occasional cash their way is the closest I'll ever come to being able to send bank transfers straight to Yana and Ozawa, so that's what I do. Having ggwp out there for free on YouTube is a crime, I would pay for that no question.

I admit I keep thinking that if Fairy Gala can get a remix, then because of Lilo & Stitch 2, the chances of them doing a Lost in the Book with Stitch remix are high! Maybe they didn't think about it when the first live-action movie was released, but with the success of the film, and I bet Yana liked the movie, when the sequel was released, they might release an "If" version of the Stitch event, with maybe other experiments, like Angel? But then, which characters would be in a new version of the Stitch event? Silver, Sebek, Leona, Ruggie, Idia, Ortho, and Jade?

People who try to connect the hosts to the content are so cute. I bet all my madol that Furuta isn't there for a Kalim-relevant reveal, he is there because he's cheap. The guy barely works, probably had the most open schedule and the lowest rate, that's all. Tamaru is a little busier so I could imagine a connection to Azul in some way I guess, if someone decided it had to be him and his schedule allowed it.

He practically ruined the presser for the first twst exhibit cause Hanae was there doing a proper job and he just stood there staring like a dead fish. It is so hard to find a photo of him smiling, but he is super expressive and energetic in live events, and I think it's cause smiling makes his nose look big and he's self conscious about it. I couldn't believe they let him promote the exhibition like this, all the photos are just like this, what were they thinking?

EN is dropping Idia's OB and Vil's OB together. I'm not a "death flag" kind of person but I would love to start spreading the rumor that EN is gonna EoS and they're squeezing the fandom for all they got first. They deserve it.
>>
>>558740325
It is quite odd. I have been saying forever that EN seems desperate for cash. That isn't to say that JP doesn't want our money. It is a gacha, it is a literal money-making machine. But a third rerun of Glorious Masquerade? EN-exclusive clubwear reruns? And then they ran through the events and main story so fast that they caught up. We'd all been assuming that was their aim but apparently not, because now they're rerunning Ridunzel less than a year after the first run because they just don't have any other content to use. They went too fast. There was never a plan. What did they think was going to happen?
>>
>>558740325
Imo they're doing this either because the EN profits are bad or the anime has brought a new wave of fans and they're trying to milk them dry. Crazy ass schedule either way, two OBs and a fan-favorite event card whose initial run was approx. 4 months ago? JP server would never.
>>
>>
>>558747349
>What did they think was going to happen?
It's like EN is living every month as though it might be their last. "We might get shut down in February, but we know we're here through January, so quick, boardgame Idia rerun and OB Malleus out together." Then 30 days later, "We might get shut down in March, but we know we're here through February, so quick, OB Vil and Idia together than that rapunzel thing, this could be our only chance to rerun it." That's how they've been working for four years now. No wonder the localization sucks if they're working on 200% speed to try and beat a clock that might end everything at any time.
>>

Hey oldfags were ENers even more annoying before EN server because they didn't actually know what was going on and would make stuff up, or were they less annoying because the lack of English content acted like gatekeeping against the more obnoxious people? I'm wondering how hard I should be wishing for EN to EOS.
>>
>>
>>558764574
It's too late to gatekeep EN by eos the game server at this point, considering the anime, manga, and novels. Did you forget a good chunk of them don't even play the game? People will "translate" the jp server anyway if it comes to it. Still blows my mind we had people actually claiming the novels were the superior way to experience twst of all things.

Call me strange but I really couldn't fathom caring enough to actively desire EN's shutdown. It's absolutely not up to snuff on quality but it also has literally zero bearing or effects on JP's side; it's existence can be ignored entirely without consequence.
>But the EN fans are annoying!
So? Block them and move on, you aren't forced to interact with them, it's not like they wouldn't be annoying cretins without being interested in twst anyway. You're not losing cool points from being into twst because they're also into twst, it's a disney anime boy gacha game, people who would think you're uncool for enjoying the same things as them already think you're uncool for enjoying it.
>>
>>558818240
>it's not like they wouldn't be annoying cretins without being interested in twst
It's amazing how many people don't get this. I've seen hate again fujoshi for the same thing and it's like, sure. Some of those people are annoying as hell and should probably be institutionalized. But not because they're fujoshi. The gay porn is not the problem, those people would be annoying as hell even without the porn. Some people are fundamentally fucked up, but that is not the porn's fault, or Twst's fault, or Disney's fault or whatever. They're just annoying people on a molecular level and should be ignored.
But I do understand not wanting those kinds of people in your circle. If I could excommunicate every annoying person from my immediate area, I would. And if EN shutting down will assist with that, there's no harm in hoping EN shuts down. It's not like people saying "I do or do not want EN to EOS" is going to affect anything at the end of the day anyway, who cares.

Enstars had enduring popularity because it fairly competently covered a lot of ground with little competition in the joseimuke market for a long time. Most of the properties that have come to inherit its popularity with female audiences only cover specific corners of what it provided, like twst with its well-written ensemble cast of highly-driven assholes or hypmic as a musically executed narrative project.
Sure, there were other male idol games like i7 and idolmas sideM, but the... I don't know how else to put it, strangeness? Of the characters and writing in enstars for an idol property allowed it to pull in fans who wouldn't have typically been interested in idol media. i7 has brother drama, and enstars has HiMERU, who speaks exclusively in third person while impersonating his estranged dead brother in order to exact misguided revenge on another idol, whose main character gimmick is that he's devoutly Christian. When the sequel game came out, they had to come up with reasons why all of the newly introduced boys had never been seen in the first run, and one of the character explanations was that Mayoi was there the whole time, but he was just living inside the walls of the school. It took place in modern day, but more often than not felt completely divorced from reality for reasons independent of the idol setting. It's up to you whether any of that is good, but you're really not going to find it anywhere but enstars.
It's been going on a long time, though, and poor decisions on the part of the developer, hand in hand with the writer obviously getting tired of working on the IP, have turned it into a pale shadow of its former self.

God, remembering all of the insane shit they were up to in enstars is so. It really is all about perspective, isn't it.
Vil's whole deal with Neige was kind of extreme in the context of Book 5 but when you compare it to enstars it's like... Oh yeah, you hate this other performer so badly you want him dead. Get in line. At least he didn't drive a bunch of people to suicide in pursuit of creating the best idol group like Eichi kek.
I feel like the most interesting thing to me is that enstars is the only joseimuke i can think of that pulled in a decent number of male fans? Ig since it had actual rhythm gameplay as a pull, but i saw a lot of male fanartists back in the day.
>>558827536
I prefer twst's art too bc the costuming is way more intentionally designed and yana's distinctive art style really matches the setting.

I'm not a fan of edgy for edgy type of stories, something dark doesn't necessarily make it good, looking at what anons are saying here it's probably not my cup of tea if the art didn't already turn me away. Twst feels more purposeful. Having Yana be so passionate about the ip is a huge plus. Once upon a time long ago though I applauded games like enstars and tkrb for at least giving joseimuke more attention and mainstream acclaim but now seeing them get away with poor quality and shoveling idol shit just doesn't sit well with me. It's like they know they can get away with the bare minimum and they do too.
>>
>>558838809
If your game is going to be the top-selling IP, earning three-times as much as the next best-seller, no matter what you do? Yeah, you're gonna go onto autopilot sooner or later. I don't think Yana even has an autopilot, a mangaka out here telling a professional musician how to make music, and she is goddamn right. Damn. Maybe it's a shakespeare situation and she's actually like eight people in a trenchcoat.
>>
>>558838809
>edgy for edgy type
Not really? That's just what these series tend to sound like when fans are casually talking about them, I've seen the same occur with twst many times in the wild as well.
Same as you're not going to get into a full play-by-play of how Lilia's backstory reveals the depths of what he's survived to become the playful but beloved figure he is to the Diasomnia group in a random convo, it's not like a couple of fans mentioning things off topic are going to give you a full rundown of the slowburn friendship development over the years through which Kanata has unlearned the dehumanization of his youth to achieve personhood.
Enstars can be criticized for what it's become in the past couple years, largely due to some poor writing decisions, but a big part of why those writing decisions have been so poorly received is because the development up to that point had been treasured by fans. Your criticisms as somebody who doesn't actually seem familiar with the series are somewhat premature and uninformed.
>>
>>558839516
I used to worry a lot about Yana burning out eventually as she's only human at the end of the day, but one one of her hidden strengths is definitely that she's good at delegation and utilizes her studio to its fullest while still maintaining creative control. It's the same sort of "soft" skill that has kept other prolific multiproject creators like Kinoko Nasu in the business for so many years.
My biggest fear on the creator side is just that twst will eventually overstay its welcome, which I've seen happen before with other IPs. I know we all like to say here that we're fine with the status quo forever as long as we get to keep seeing our boys, but the financial reality is that titles like twst need regular injections of shiny new things to keep earning momentum going and henceforth stay afloat.
This is where enstars stumbled in recent years imo. It continues to outsellf twst because the scope of its audience vastly eclipsed twst's to begin with, but it lost a lot of audience due to the addition of new cast in a manner that unpopularly upset existing dynamics. It's a difficult line to walk, and they successfully pulled off something similar at large scale in 2020 with 2nd, but failed spectacularly with the latest attempt.
>>
>>558841590
Yeah I'm worried about where they're going, too. A thing about stories like this is they have to end. People who play Twst aren't the 12 year old boys stuck on one piece and dragonball. I am the first person on the front line defending book 7 from people who bitch about it being too long, but even I know that things can't go on indefinitely and that is actually part of the appeal, the fact that there is a ticking clock and the school year in-game is actually moving forward, with characters getting older and everything. There is like one, maybe two months left in the NRC school year by this point. I do not believe for a moment that they are going to move the 3rd years into internships to continue this timeline. I do not believe there is going to be a new year of first-years. This game is its characters, and the characters are only popular because of their dynamics. Aging everyone into the next school year would be throwing away 6 years of dynamics, 6 years of the reason why people play Twst. It's just not going to happen. Period.
So wtf are they going to do then? We don't know and thank god for that because the ideas I've seen people suggest are always crap. The only choice is to trust Yana and not worry about stuff we can't influence or change. Presumably, they have a plan. They've been seeing the rise and fall of the same gacha that we have and will not be blindly making the same mistakes.
Gotta tell myself I am only allowed to worry about the future of a disney anime boy gambling simulator once the mouse starts paying me to do so and not a minute sooner.
>>
>>558809015
>Fraction of the amount of Yana artwork
>No Voice Acting & no 2D Live Model animations
>No Vignettes
>No Event/Birthday outfits, stories, and characters
Going with a resounding "No" to that claim. The Twst cast truly shines thanks to all that the mobage format can offer. The novels can be neat for world building or alternate ways of doing certain things but that's more of an added bonus on top of what is already established by the game. The novels also have to waste screentime on arguably one of the worst Yuus out there. I'd only rank Yuuka lower. Recommending the novel over the game is like recommending the anime over the VN for F/SN.
>>
>>558843648
I totally agree.
This is the inherent tragedy of live-service story-driven games, I guess... I've been playing mobage for well over a decade now (been around since a few years before FGO first showed the world that mobage could be a serious storytelling format) and I've never seen one make a graceful exit. The business model demands you keep going until you're no longer profitable, and you either die young and beautiful having failed to reach a paying audience, or live to see yourself become a soulless shell of what you once were. I hate to say it, but it's almost better for something good to die prematurely than it is for it to rot to that extent.
Like all mediums, things are always changing, though, so maybe a new way of closing things out will be found in the coming years. Best thing we can do is as you say, trusting the process and relishing the good times while they're here.
>>
>>
>>558844453
I keep trying to think of an option and I just can't. Maybe they will just legit end the thing before it gets too shit, who knows, "Thanks for playing Disney's Twisted Wonderland." It would be sad but it would be graceful, which is not something Disney is known for being. I also lowkey wonder if part of getting Yana onboard was the promise of a deadline. Like, a set ending, so that she can go back to Kuroshi.
>>
>>558838809
Sorry that we gave you a poor impression, but I don't want to imply that enstars is just gonzo for the sake of being crazy. It's successful because the writer successfully maneuvres under the bright and larger-than-life idol veneer to ask serious questions about what it means to be broken and incomplete human beings navigating a cut throat society. All of these characters come from diverse and sometimes tragic backgrounds into odd solidarities with one another that may not portray a normal ideal relationship, but mutually provides what they need to heal and strive for whatever their better tomorrow looks like. Enstars is infamous for having a very intense and often mentally ill fanbase and it's absolutely exhausting to exist in, but I think it's because the topics the series tackles resonate with a lot of people who are lost and hurting.
The head writer has been working on this sprawling IP for over a decade now (enstars was preceded by a girl idol game in the same universe that EOS'd early) and has understandably lost steam– I empathize with a creator who's given their best with no hand in choosing when their child gets to see its exit. I appreciate the work that's been done, and saying that he's mentally ill wasn't meant to denigrate the overall quality of the writing– I think personal struggles with existence can be turned into good art that saves people. It's the unfortunate reality that there isn't a suitable replacement to properly pick up the mantle and keep enstars going in a good direction, and that it's not allowed to die. We should be so lucky if the same doesn't happen to twst one day, as others have discussed.

Oh damn anons I wasn't expecting these and will fully admit fault like anon said that I am uninformed since I don't play it. I also poorly worded what very specific and possibly nitpicky part of my tastes that stops me from getting into enstars. Hope we good here, didn't mean it as criticism.
>>558844179
Ch7 is a huge problem to adapt due to how much it uses the mobage format. There's just no replicating seeing Idia's special skill is summoning and then watching it come full circle summoning everyone to battle in a gacha pull. Laughed really hard
>>
>>558847947
I'll admit that that moment wouldn't be the same in novel format but also the novels are never going to get to book 7 anyway so the point is moot. I can confidently say we're never getting a 4th one, and at this rate we might not even be getting a third. But the first and second ones were way, way better than the main story of the game. Especially Leona's.
>Yuuya bitching
Yeah it figures that americans don't like protagonists like that. It's the same reason why ENers all have dragon empresses from venus as their OCs and JPers have normal school girls. Cultural differences.
>>
>>558838809
Dunking on irl idolshit i get but fixating this hard on a mobage being idolshit over and over is weird. We play twisted wonderland, people constantly make fun of it for being anime boy disneyshit. We should know better than anybody else not to judge something for superficial reasons
>>
>>558847947
We're cool, I was half speaking up just because I was worried I'd misrepresented enstars when talking with that other anon. A lot of things that draw me to twst's writing in the present are things that drew me to enstars's writing in its heyday, so I'd hate for people here to think it's just full of shallow edge. I appreciate that we can have peaceful discussions in this thread.
Hope you have a good day/night, anon.

>the addition of new cast in a manner that unpopularly upset existing dynamics
Ugh, yeah. For those who aren't in the know, this is referring to the sudden addition of a new character who had never been alluded to or mentioned before to the unit Akatsuki. Akatsuki is one of the idol units of the original enstars game, so this was a trio that had an established dynamic developed over the course of a decade of content suddenly being upset with the addition of a new member.
I bring this up because this is my concern whenever fans mention injecting the series with new life by bringing in the 4th years or introducing a fresh wave of 1st years.
The enstars 2020 revamp was successful because new characters were able to be introduced as their own units with their own dynamics. In a crude approximation of twst's vocabulary, this would be like introducing new dorms. Enstars' 2025 drama, in comparison, would be like introducing a new character to Pomefiore with little to no consideration of Pomefiore's existing dynamics or aesthetics.
It's not like I have the professional background of Yana and co., so maybe they can think of a way to introduce new staple cast members that isn't disruptive. But I have a very hard time seeing it going well, as twst's interpretation of a school setting is more rigid than enstars's is.
>>
>>558849985
>an established dynamic developed over the course of a decade of content suddenly being upset with the addition of a new member.
This is exactly what I'm afraid of for Twst, and exactly what the en children I see talking about, and exactly why I am so baffled by those who don't seem to think anything is wrong with it. It is so beyond comprehension to me that someone would come up with the generic idea of "what if we added a new year!?" and think they are god's gift to originality and creative genius when no, no, no, that sounds just so terrible, it would ruin everything. It is like talking to a space alien.
>>
>>558850441
I could see it going well with the 4th years coming back to campus as new core cast if twst had consistently hinted at these characters existing in any tangible capacity beyond just "4th years exist". But despite twst being a well plotted-out series that's gone in for the long haul with a lot of its developments, we just haven't seen any inkling of that. So I find it unlikely that it will happen, and if it does happen in the current environement, I'm going to think it's a result of producerside cash grabbing.
My ideal would be for them to find a nice closing point on twst, shut it down gracefully, and put out a legacy version with all of the content available in one package like what Mega Man X Dive did. And then maybe a new project set in the same universe can be rolled out with a different theme focus than villains, giving space to continue expanding the world and leaving opportunity for the original twst's characters to make cameos. It's not favorable, but I'd even accept them bringing on a new artist/writer for this project and just having Yana in to write cameo events where the old characters appear, because a new project would be divorced enough from the original twst for me to not care. I guess because I've just seen too many good story mobage die ugly deaths after having their canon disfigured by attempts to strangle just a bit more life out of them.
Sorry for all the downer talk guys. I do kind of feel like I'm talking about grandma dying while she's still healthy and happy in the room with us, kek, I'll drop it after this.
>>
>>558851556
Yeah I can see them dropping Yana and bringing in another creative, or more likely multiple new creatives. They've kind of been doing that since day one, yeah? The anthologies, the art galleries, the manga, all these published books of people who aren't yana and have no connection to Twst being brought in to write for it. Just like Yana gets called onto projects like touken ranbu to contribute, maybe they'll start calling calling in other people. It's in line with precedent, but personally if Yana is out then I am out, too. It would be a clean graduation point for old fans, and I doubt I'd be the only one, and I doubt the game is ignorant to that. There's that hollywood reporter interview out there with disney execs who said straight out that they wanted yana for this project because 1) she's a huge disneyfag but also 2) she comes with her own, built-in fanbase. That's one of the things they bought when they hired her, and I could see them losing it if they lose her.
>>
>>558852667
Yeah, that's why I think they'd have to have a clean cut ending the current twst as we know it with Yana's stated consent even if they want to start a new project with a different creative spearheading. It'd have to be a new cast even if it's in the Twisted Wonderland universe, too, for me to be okay with it. There are plenty of other artists and writers who have huge followings they could bring on.
Honestly people here tend to talk like Yana is unique in her creative output and the diversity of projects she's gotten onto between twst and Kuroshitsuji, but she's only singular in that she's a female artist catering to a female fanbase that's done this. I'm not saying this to lower her regard– rather, I'd like to see new female-catered female creatives step up and follow suit if and when the day comes that Yana feels like she's done here and the stars align.
>>558226492
Moving beyond the scope of twst again but it still pisses me off that they pulled Yuya Takahashi for Ride Kamens when IMO he's produced the most vapid entries to Kamen Rider in the past decade. The latter 2010s when Ex-Aid yaoi reigned supreme were so bleak. There are plenty of other writers who have a better handle on what makes the female KR fanbase tick. If we could have gotten even a fraction of Junko's humor and sincerity with a side of her gleeful sadism (during Gavv last year I actually saw men complaining that it seemed like male ryona was her thinly concealed fetish), Ride Kamens could have had better wings. But the designs alone told me that that project had grossly misinterpreted what female fans would have wanted out of a Kamen Rider joseimuke. Like, do they think we don't have eyes??? What were those dogshit suits they tried to pass of on us??? But I digress.
Every day I'm so thankful that twst JP exists as a relatively competent and enjoyable joseimuke despite being under Disney. So many other IPs that could have gold on their hands have zero idea what fans want.
>>
>>
>>558854737
The designs they gave Ride Kamens felt condescending and out of touch. The majority of Kamen Rider fanart comes from female artists who show a great appreciation for the main series' suits in their careful rendering, and here Ride Kamens is acting like women can't get into Kamen Rider unless they explicitly show them at all times that these ugly, pale imitations have anime boys in there. Embarrassing failure to trust both your fanbase and the power of your own IP.
This is why it's so important to give creative freedom to somebody who is an actual fan with an understanding of what your target fanbase wants. Yana is so skillful that I've been compelled to go back and watch Disney movies I haven't thought about in decades. That's potency.

>compelled to go back and watch Disney movies
Twst hasn't been subtle about how that is one of the purposes of the whole game, to keep Disney movies relevant in the culture and people re-watching them and buying Disney shit because of it, like the world's longest and most plot-driven commercial. And I am right there with you, I am annoyed by how effective it is, as one of the hypocrites who adores twst but dislikes Disney. How dare they. But then Yana comes in like "And that oogie boogie thing, that was a fun time, right? Anyway, here is this ancient fae who escaped from prison" and it's like god fucking damn it Yana you are correct, and now I want to rewatch Nightmare Before Christmas.

There's no way the second season is gonna have anything near the hype of season one. I wonder how they intend to handle it. Gonna have a real-size cardboard cutout of Yuuka with Leona, Jack and Ruggie in Ikebukuro station? Doubt.

>>558854737
There is something uniquely depressing about seeing the characters of a cancelled project, like abandoned kittens or something. Even if they're just the product of a cash grab, they're still someone's babies.

On twst radio they were talking about the Anime Japan stage appearance and the anni ABEMA at the same time. And Ichikawa said, specifically, that it was the Anime Japan stage that is going to have some unbelievably big news. Wtf could it be.
He also said he's seen the groovy for Sebek's birthday card. It's kind of hilarious that the seiyuu are seeing those in advance.
>>
>>558868267
Most likely a new trailer and release date for the second season, right? Or do you think that wouldn't be considered unbelievably big news? And if it's at the Anime Japan stage and not ABEMA, it probably isn't about the game, right? Do you think there's a chance the rumors about the Glorimas movie are true?
>>
>>558868510
>the Glorimas movie
I found ground zero for this rumor and it's just someone talking about the costumes. The other tweets are just people talking about if it were possible, based on that original tweet, what they would like in such a case. Probably another example of AI translation sucking and/or someone who fancies themselves a JP->EN translator actually understanding nothing at all and making stuff up as a result.
>>
>>558868267
Ichikawa is such a cute patootie. And he is an excellent MC, poor Ban gets nervous and only ever repeats "that's true" over and over again but you can tell Ichikawa actually plays the game, knows the story and has opinions on the characters. He and Midorikawa are a gift.
>>
>>558869382
I know a lot of things is en fault but I saw jp tweets only, search up グロマス and you'll see a bunch of confused jp tweets too unless maybe en misinformation somehow spread to jp? Which is a possibility too. I even saw that one kh and twst youtuber talk about it.
>>
>>
>>558874349
Samefag digging deeper. Noticed some of the tweets are talking about playful too. I wonder if the theory came from Azul and Kalim's va going to animejapan, along with twst radio saying it's gonna be something big. Azul for glorimas and Kalim for playful. 6th anni image on the banner looks like a movie watching sleepover party (projection on the wall, popcorn and pizza on the table). So, a movie. If I remember correctly last year the ob cards were revealed at animejapan and people on JP guessed right about it because Leona, Riddle and Azul's vas were there, the order was just wrong as it started with Malleus instead kek 3dlive was announced there too wasn't it?

Of the first-year seiyuu Kobayashi and Aoi might be the best emcees/hosts/talents/whatever.
Ishiya might be pretty good too but he got railroaded in that radio episode with diasomnia, having to act like a host to the amazing combo of Shimazaki, Midorikawa and Kato. Two legendary senpai and an ikemen haiyuu, he stood no chance.
Also haven't really seen enough of Tsuchiya to judge. His tour with Aiba for the exhibition promotion was cute, so he might be pretty good. Loves talking about his damn dog.
But Ban and Yamashita are so awkward on camera. They try and you want to root for them but oof.

You're talking shit or didn't check out enough places. RSA related information being this unmissable animejapan news has been proposed by the japanese fandom as well (seen it on two different discussion boards as well as being speculated by a couple of twst info-related twitter accounts). I prefer a Lost in the Book event announcement but I think that's slightly less likely to happen than the RSA thing.

RSA or another school getting a bigger feature was always an obvious and large possibility, the person here who refused to believe it and said so everytime it came up as a topic was just really aggressive about it to compensate for their lack of logic lol.
Like, what was realistically going to be the alternative once we got through book 7 and twst needed shiny new moneymakers? New NRC students? It's been talked about at length recently here why that wouldn't be advisable.
>>
>>
>>559072685
So what are they gonna do, I wonder, then. Restart the school year from RSA's perspective? We get to see Chenya like "think I'm gonna go be a gremlin now cause Riddle's gone bonkers"? Gonna see people watching Malleus kick everyone's ass at spelldrive? Gossip about a new Mostro Lounge location opening up on NRC's campus? For Book 4, uh...no idea how that would relate to RSA, that was all pretty contained. And Book 5 follows Neige of course, Book 6 is people going to their knitting glasses while casually talking about the robots that invaded NRC and took most their housewardens away?

>>
>>559073079
I am fascinated by how hard EN players latched onto the Rielle spelling when that's not how it's pronounced. They say Rielé, and that was how it was originally written even on En before they went back in and localized it. People love saying Fellow and Kifaji but for some reason they allied with aniplex USA for Rielé. Curious how the fandom does that kind of pick and choose.
>>
>>
>>
>>559073079
>Please make rsa alice cute and have a complicated relationship with riddle
Wouldn't that require some pretty intense retconning? Like I trust in Yana, I'm sure it'll be fine. But for anyone to have any significant relationship with those guys would be something like "Oh right, I didn't mention this once in the past six years but I actually have a complicated relationship with this character that you've never heard of before, as required by the narrative."
>>
>>
>>559072962
Why would we have to shift focus completely to RSA like that though when they can just develop NRC dynamics with the RSA students, they're going to be interacting in the competition extensively anyway. Is there a reason why whenever RSA is brought up there's this assumption that they will become the main? Does this happen a lot with other mobages or something, new characters get introduced and the previous ones get sidelined? Genuine question, I don't play much mobages. But I am shounenfag and new characters are introduced every arc and still follow the original main characters
>>
>>559074507
I dom't see why it would requirw retconning, people can meet new people and develop new relationships. Same with >>559072962 's odd assumption that RSA characters getting more screentime and likely cards as a result of being in the main story would require rewinding the clock. Time moves forward.
It'll probably be the same formula we see constantly in twst's events and main story. Our boys get divided up into certain groups that'll have reason to interact with certain RSA guys. The story moves group by group. We get a card for each one. Money for twst.
>>
>>559075923
It literally doesn't happen that way in other mobages, the only reason anons keep thinking it'll happen here is because they paradoxically have peas sized imaginations with self-confidence higher than the moon kek.
>>
>>
>>559076020
Well I mean, just based on >>559073079 asking for an Alice cutie with a complicated relationship with Riddle. There is no foundation for something like that. Not arguing that it shouldn't or can't happen now, going forward, but a pre-existing complicated relationship is impossible, especially for Riddle. Maybe I misunderstood their verb tenses and they mean "will form a complicated relationship with Riddle moving forward after meeting for the first time"?
I want to see man-Meg, personally. She is the only one of the ladies who was allowed to be overtly sexual. The guy had better be on par with Leona Kingscholar himself.
>>
>>559074507
>>559076171
I don't mind if it happened in the past, if Alice is the child of Riddle's mom rival mom or if they met for the first time in the tournament but I want them to interact
>>
>>559076171
NTA but the tense is ambiguous and context would imply a future relationship.
>>559075923
It happens in Love Live, where they've fully shifted the main cast a couple times now, but I can't think of any other story mobage that does this. It's not the norm and I don't know why it's being assumed here when the main story has already blatantly set up for RSA screentime.
>>
>>
>>559076651
My favorite reaction thus far has been "wait they're replacing the main cast with new characters?"
Yes. They are throwing out 6 years of lore, character development and gameplay to replace everything as we know it.
It takes all kinds.
>>
>>
>>
>>559077257
Reminds me of that time anon posted "We are never getting overblot cards, you need to just give up" right before the OB Malleus reveal. That was like a day or so apart though, so the timing wasn't as perfect.
>>
>>559077313
It'll be fine.
We've hardly seen the RSA boys and can't really know what it'll be like, most of the pushback against the idea here seems to be based on anons' imaginations.
Yana and co. usually write a wild ride. Even if it ends up being mid, we know from Books 5-6 that they have the ability to bounce back and make the best of it.
Let this be a lesson learned to anons not to go around aggroing people over the writing on the wall, though.
>>
>>
>>559077640
I actually think this thread would be more active if some of you weren't going around being massive douches over people being excited at the likely probability of things like RSA screentime. I would love to see Rielle and a character based on Alice, but I would also love to see characters based on the three good fairies (even more so if they had a relationship with Silver and his parents), a young boy based on Flounder, the Kalim's cousin, a Himbo based on Hercules, another based on Megara, and a third based on Pegasus (a boy horse with wings?).

NTA but I've seen a handful of people already worrying about the imbalance of character content from now on because they believe RSA are gonna be part of the main cast now. I'm sure each one of them will get book 8 exclusive cards but I don't think they will be relevant outside of that?
