It seems that the last time algernon made some cocorots was in 2024 for blue lock, and 2023 for jjk and csm but they're not as cute as the original run orbs from 2018-2020. They do still make them, but I guess it depends. They never re-ran the P5 orbs despite how popular they were though

tiny little crumbs of unused content, first not the faintest idea what it would've been used for but they were trying to keep track of the value of a morale gauge in their big list of global counts. The 【変更予定】is a label they use pretty consistently in this file for things they were going to change or scrap

Some of the comments left on the counts in here are very apparent holdovers from P5. For example 162 is supposed to be a coin possession count for D06, which in Metaphor is Martira, but the comment says "Casino Dungeon" and Sae's Palace was the 6th dungeon in P5. This is the first time we've had access to commented enumerations for global counts, bitflags, etc. in an Atlus game before but it looks like they've been using these naming conventions since at least P5.
The second one here is cool and I hope it actually works, supposedly it keeps track of all damage taken.

Some other very obvious P5 ones in here just by looking at the enumeration, but this is also where they keep track of metrics for unlocking trophies (and we always knew this but the Atlus team is very Playstation brained and they do say trophy here). This is cool because I can read from this count wherever I want and for example I can change someone's moveset based on how much you've spammed Merchant skills during the game.

Figuring out how to manipulate the weather so you get bad weather in any dungeon including where normally impossible. For some ungodly reason the game crashes when you go into a magla hollow having set the weather yourself. It also didn't work that well on Zorba's boss fight but I might be able to fix that by messing with some encounter flags. Overall a huge pain in the ass

Strohl, Hulker, Basilio and Heismay suck as mages
Heismay and Junah have the highest Agi growths, so they would often go first, hella nice for certain strats like synthesis weakness exploits turn 1 with Knight or Magic Dancer
Basilio is a crit god, Eupha has the highest mag growth.
Most of that can be chalked with grinding, I guess

it's his own fault I'd say when the fuck did they even start to make he game seriously. The first teaser was 2016 and then they proceeded to just invest in pre-production till god knows when. They even used the old P5 engine so not like a new engine is an excuse. Sega must have shown a lot of goodwill to let them take time but even their patience must run dry and they told him to hurry up like he mentioned in that one interview book.
Since it was a success now they might give more budget but they need to be faster in deciding what they want to do.

According to his personal book, it was somewhere around 2018-2020. I don't think that the coof affected the development that much but he does say that it did make things very difficult. They didn't even have a title for the game until late 2022.
If a behind the scenes development video ever came out, it'd show how fucking messy Metaphor's development was from the conception of Re:Fantasy to what we have today. There's probably tons of scrapped content and scrapped concepts all the way back to Re:Fantasy.

Nah the mechanic is fine, a lot better than p5's bad weather stuff too
By endgame the only thing is that it's very easy to buy 20 fish for edeni to pleasure himself with. Should've made eupha's cooking the requirement to turn it off at all, but at the same time it's also a mechanic focused around whether or not you want to take the risk and go into a new dungeon with weakness + crits turned off and not something the game is trying to force you to deal with.

I had a dream where there was a thai/chinese fujo from /thlg/ coming to post like 10 posts per minute and being generally very loud and very obnoxious with no thread/site ettiquette whatsoever. What do you mean by that? Metaphor did leak pre-release if that's what you're saying, just that nobody really cared enough to go deep into it. The demo had all of the game files in it's first version and they could be datamined. The "plot summary" sections were being posted on /pg/ which had the out of context screenshot of Shibuya.
The bust sprites also got datamined and it showed the white haired MC too.

Granted maybe a third of this post is true at best. The only thing anyone could see from the demo without the modders updating all their tools were the memorandum entries and most of the game's files were missing

You could play past the cutoff point of the demo even if you couldn't play the whole thing to completion which is why they did it. They did the same thing with the P3R demo also, but neither cases were like the Yakuza 6 playstation demo where not a single file was scrubbed, nor do you hear about people doing pirate playthroughs of either game much or at all for this reason. For Metaphor I've heard:

Which was immediately obvious to me on day 0 just looking at how many chapters the cutscenes were broken up into and how much of the script was missing for all of them
>no actually they took the missing code from the retail exe with denuvo and put it in the demo exe without denuvo to make it playable
Which didn't happen and doesn't make much sense if you think about it for a few seconds, I fucking wish this was true though because it would make documenting what all the game functions actually do much much easier

At various points I did try out a bit of this myself but got frequent crashes trying to use the gauntlet runner, and loading up event battles because I knew how much hardcoded bullshit goes into the bosses and enemies some didn't behave properly, some froze mid fight, a few worked just fine though
Someone got very mad at me for telling them the game wasn't really playable from start to finish and claimed they did it themselves but you can probably chalk most of these stories to upset fans of other franchises
