the thing about cavalry is that it looks good in the battle system equations. it moves fast unlike tulips, it does a lot of damage, it isn't especially fragile, there are enough cute girl generics that you can get however many you want, and not only does it hit the back line but it also has loads of really good battle skills, including dealing action point damage.

Shuriken RNG just sucks ass and Kayblis's NEET aura removes single attack removers. If you want to stall, saving AP with multiple ninja that have a 75-90% block rate is needed, and even then keep a down blocking unit on board if you desperately can't lose a deployed unit.

Did you ever check enemy resistance? It dramatically lowers status infliction chance. Poison still carries most of the damage against kayblis for weaker builds but if the infliction rate of your unit is too low it will have a 0% chance.

I had a replay of daibanchou in my backlog for 14 years now after I lost my initial playthrough saves from 2010 and I finally got around to it.
