DLC after 100 years edition
>What the heck is this
/indie/ is the general for all indie games, such as A Hat in Time, Animal Well, Baba Is You, Balatro, Bat to the Heavens, Battle Brothers, Cave Story, Celeste, CrossCode, Cultist Simulator, Darkest Dungeon, Darkwood, Dead Cells, Disco Elysium, Environmental Station Alpha, FTL, Hades, Hollow Knight: Silksong, Hotline Miami, LISA, Lobotomy Corp, Loop Hero, Machinarium, Monster Train, Noita, Nuclear Throne, OFF, OneShot, Rain World, Shovel Knight, Slay the Spire, Starsector, Subnautica, Sunless Skies, The Witness, Void Stranger, etc., as well as other games that just don't fit in any other general such as Atelier, Pillars of Eternity, and Valkyria Chronicles. /jrpg/ is welcome. Idle, roguelite, shmup, 4x / RTS / city-builders, and RPGMaker games are cool too.
Mobile or consoles, Flash or Unity, freeware or early access. This place is a home for the indie game community and indie and obscure games that don't have a home. So be free to talk and share all your hidden gems, forgotten games and starving devs here.
>Can I talk about games that already have a general?
We mostly discuss games that are not popular enough for their own threads, however, all indie games are allowed. So talk about them if you want, but don't overdo it since you already have other generals for that.

My biggest problem is, that once I build a nice looking building, I want every other building to look at least as good. And on previous saves that has straight up paralyzed me at times, because I've built something nice looking and then couldn't get myself to build anything more (even if it's stuff I needed to progress) because what if it doesn't look as nice?
>Damn shame this game has no npc in single player.. Except traders that is.
Yeah I've been thinking about this ever since playing medieval dynasty, more of these games need NPCs. It always feels so weird to build a big castle or some shit and then be the only person living in it.

A paragon of normalcy spending his time in a general dedicated to quirky, weird and autistic games. A place where other generals come to die because they were too quirky, weird and autistic.
I am sure you can go fuck a girl instead and it would be a net positive for both of us. This is a normal thing that you totally do all the time, right?

Qua gameplay; Puzzle games, Score attack games, Builder/automation games, and murdering-your-fellow-man games are the best games.
My favorites are Stephen's Sausage Roll, Devil Daggers, Factorio, and Splatoon 2 respectively.
I don't give a flying fuck about themes and story.

short answer it's a smaller, lighter rifle (shorter barrel is the main thing)
easier to move with especially in tight spaces, less precise at sufficiently long ranges

Tried Shadow of the Matrix.
I'm not quite sure why there's even a demo, the game doesn't even feel like it's in alpha. It feels like a bunch of random assets together.
I could go in, but it's an indie game, so I feel bad about tearing it to pieces.

I'm mad that the only game I know with a lot of cosmetic options is the very predatory Conan Exiles.
I remember playing Enshrouded and trying to make a Roman-styled villa, but it didn't have enough options for it. It came out as a Germanic take on a Roman mansion.
>>
>>558359714
Who's forcing you to stay in one place?
Granted a full nomadic playthrough is probably difficult, though with the elk and boat I can imagine carring enough supplies for quite some distance.
I once ahd the idea for a playthrough, where I move whenever I make a big enough jump in technologypotentially with the bonus rule that I have to survive in each one for at least a year, though that might be too boring, so I can have multiple bases each looking period appropriate, without having to tear down my mudhut once I get into metalurgy. The idea is currently on hiatus, but feel free to steal it.
Or you could build and expanding network of outposts and connect them with roads. Maybe embark on a journey to one of the poles.
I've set my current world to
>Landcover: 50%
>Landcover scale: 300%
during generation. I've only explored a tiny bit of it in noclip, before resetting to make sure I dialed the settings in correctly and so far it has fiven me a very nice ratio between vast oceans and big continents. So you bet I'll be exploring the oceans and settling far off lands as soon as I can.

The sheer amount of infrastructure needed to build a boat means you ahve to settle in one place.

>>558362378
>The sheer amount of infrastructure needed to build a boat means you ahve to settle in one place.
fair enough, though you could also use that to "trick" your brain into accepting not constantly moving on, you know? At the end of the day it's probably the same phenomenon that makes people never finish games because they keep starting new ones, or never get far into an RPG because they're constantly thinking of restarting with a new class. Our brains crave and reward novelty, so focusing on a single thing (be that a single game, or a single location in an exploration game or whatever) can feel very broing sometimes, because the gratification of building a cool base or whatever is delayed compared to the instant gratification of going out and finding new shit.
>where setting outposts have sense.
I mean in a creative game like VS it still relies on you setting your own goals to some extent, but if you want to travel to the pole for instance, then outposts are definitely useful as a place where you can store supplies, hold out for the winter and prepare for exploring further out.
>>
>>558363449
You tried that npc mod? I wish VS had some Npc's, i disdain playing MP but playing sp can be boring and the sheer amount of work one needs to be doing is clearly meant for multiple people.
>At the end of the day it's probably the same phenomenon that makes people never finish games because they keep starting new ones, or never get far into an RPG because they're constantly thinking of restarting with a new class.

I'm pretty sure a person hunting and foraging as a full time job can sustain a group of players until they set up farming, even if it means he has to go out in a bigger radius. In fact I imagine multiplayer being a lot easier because of this. My game is usually divided in "phases"
>first 10 days
no enemy spawns grace period, first priority is finding a place to settle and building a house. Mostly just eat whatever I find on the way looking for a place and gathering resources
>have a house, but no farm yet
focus on getting claymaking set up for farming, interspersed by going on hunting/foraging trips because most nearby food sources are probably exhausted by this point
>have a farm
at this point I have a mostly sustainable food source and only go hunting occasionally
Having someone skip right to step two for the whole day, while others can still progress through the "tech tree" to set up a farm sounds super easy. Even if the farm might have to be 4 times the size.
>>558363904
Wasn't aware there was one. But also Iunfortunatelytry to be as light on mods as possible, so my save isn't at risk of being broken by updatesmoreso than it already is, thanks to a worldgen update or something
>i have like 500hrs in Skyrim and i never got past the Horn of Jurgen Windcaller quest.
to be fair that also comes from the fact, that the open world is much more interesting than the main quest. I have 800h and only made it past that quest once I think.

Also speaking of Vintage Story, foraging and farming. I still in love with how perfectly my first playthrough of this game illustrated the importance of the advent of agriculture. Of course I knew beforehand it was important, but actually "feeling" that yourself, how much time you free up and stress is lifted, once you don't have to spend half your day looking for food and can focus on building and metallurgy for instance is something else. Even just in this simplified form.
Though on that note it's interesting that there were still hunter gatherer societies that were able to build quite impressive structures as I've learned not too long ago.

Cool puzzles in the update but the rainbow numbers changing colors is disorienting. If they are gonna do that it should be much slower, and not vary between light and dark colors. The developer should know that people who play this game aren't here for flashy colors.
>>
>>558390619
>>558391085
Oh yeah. Vintage Story is excellent at making you realize how big achievements are. Even going from stones to flint specifically feels rewarding.
What worries me is that I suck at hunting, and I'm not enjoying scavenging, so I'm terrible at it. My ideal game is to stay at home and farm, but with Vintage Story's system, it's really not encouraged.

Very productive day today. Need to go to sleep and have been falling into the "just one more task" trap I know all too well from Factorio.
Finished my house, I'm not used to my starter home being this huge, but with all the new ground storage options I'm starting to find use for the extra space.
Also built this little shelter for my pit kiln, though I think I'll replace the posts for thicker logs and move them one out, because I think they can catch on fire otherwise. Also turns out I'm living right on the edge between uncommon and common rain areas, so it's constantly raining over my kiln, but not my house.
As soon as the clay vessels, watering can and cooking pot finish I can get the rest of my stuff from the temporary camp, set up a small vegetable garden and get into popper meal preparation.
Until then I think it's finally time for a hunting trip, which I could also use to collect any of the wild growing vegetables and grains on the island. Plus maybe take some berry bushes home.

Shame. I think people sometimes underestimate how much of a collaborative effort video games are. Even if you let go the higher ups, you might still have a team of very talented devs, artists and writers left who can do good workI'm actually not up to speed on the DE saga, not sure who exactly was and wasn't let go
Either way, it does come off as trying to hard.
Truth be told I think this would even have been an issue if they made a sequel or spiritual successor with the exact same team. But now even moreso.

I used
>Landcover: 50%

To make sure I toughly get what I want I also generated the world, hopped into creative mode (/gm 2) and enabled noclip (double tap F3, F1 & F2 for speed control) and flew around for just a minute or so, trying not to spoil myself too much of the map but just to see if it looks roughly like what I want.
Then go to the menu, copy the seed from the world I just flew around in and generate it again, this time adjusting all the settings and so on.
I thought I would have to repeat the process a few times, but found this one right away and was happy with it.

>>

Islands sound good in theory but in practice it suck, because;
>Spawns are fucked so 1 island will have like 7 bears on it while the other has none but 10 wolves
>Ressource gathering is a pain because one crucial ressource may not be found on your spawn island and is overall very limited
>Any sort of travelling or exploration require a slow ass raft which cant be upgraded until way later on
>Going into copper and iron age is an absolute pain due to less ground coverage = far less chances for surface copper to spawn

I think a direct sequel would have faired far better. What creates an actual uncanny valley here is they're trying to match DE but just changing out the names and voices. There are actual lines in the demo that I'm pretty sure are lifted directly from DE too and that just makes it worse for anyone who played it.
I suppose they figure they burned all good will with the existing fan base and none of them are going to play the game so they can just copy things directly and the new fanbase will be none the wiser.

>>
>>558438115
Kinda depends on how you'd do it.
It would definitely feel a lot less out of place to have DE sounding writing in a game set in the DE universe. But another draw was the whole thing of you talking to your skills and from what I recall it's heavily implied that this is something unique to Harry, so I'm not sure if you'd have to come up with something similar yet distinctwhich honestly would still feel like copying DE imoor have Harry be the playable character again, which would cheapen any impact of the first game, at least for me for a variety of reasons

Salvageable, but depends on the situation. Your cleric would be very helpful, but ideally you'd have a second form of healing from items or something like that. Injuries aren't run ending, I regularly have a cat go down on the more challenging areas and still usually make it to the end, with a full team. On the other hand, if you had 3 go down at hippo (a relatively easy boss) I'm not sure I'd be confident in the team's ability to take on upcoming bosses.

After hearing that Scrapyard is supposedly actually easier than the sewers, I decided to say "fuck it, I'm gonna keep going", And kept the run. It for sure was a challenge healing the cats back up, but I even managed to take the hard route in the scrapyard, and I guess I lucked out with the boss (the headless duo) being relatively easy and avoidable by being careful and not doing stupd stuff.
I think the early game of this is a lot more difficult, because you are relying on cats that usually only have 1 or maybe 2 stats at 7. My rule of thumb now is to never take any cat that has below 5 on the constitution, it just ain't worth it. You can beat most normie enemies with low constitution cats, but bosses will hit back, and having below a 5 is basically just guranteed dead cats.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>558493948
I'd more or less agree, with the caveat that things change as you progress. Once you get breeding going and have better stats and mutations, not to mention a bigger box to hold good starting items, the early game becomes much more consistent. At the start though, I would regularly pick classes that gave +con for my less healthy cats just so they could have a decent pool. The scrapyard duo is a real dice roll, sometimes they practically kill each other and sometimes you get fucked because your familiars uncontrollably hit them for 2 damage ten times and now your tank is dead.

There is a misconception that samurai armor was made of wood, but it was mostly iron plates from very early on. Earlier patterns being iron lamellar and wide iron plates, later patterns being more form fitting iron or steel plate akin to european plate armor.
They also knew how to make chainmail and had their own chainmail suits worn alone or in addition to heavier armor.

Bought Balatro yesterday and I had a couple of cool Face cards runs.
My last run had :
Every card is a Face Card
Repeat Face cards
Face cards get +5 Mult when scored
Face Cards give +30 chips
So every single cards I played was giving +60 chips and +10 mult
And half the run I had the Golden Face giving every face card gold.
Twas neat

First time I visit this thread, sorry, I just wanted to ask a question and wasn't sure where to do it.
I was looking for randomly generated TD games ("roguelite" TD) and found two which happen to have demos on steam, emberward and gnomes. When I click on download demo nothing happens. I don't even get an error, just nothing happens. I've been using steam for more than 15 years and this has never happened before. Any idea what's going on?
The games in case it matters:

I was thinking of spending my first winter without leaving the island. Maybe even hope that the ocean freezes over so I can use the ice to just walk there. But on second thought I think I'll build a raft soon just go there.
I've only found about a stack of medium fertility soil on my island and would love to get a bigger farm going than the little vegetable garden I got at the moment.

How are you supposed to figure out how to assemble the engine, if you're not a car guy? Do you just try shit until it works or you give up and go to the wiki, or is there some ingame thingy that explains it?

Looks like they added some new Monsters to Vintage Story since I've last played.
And I don't know if they always had this behavior that made them scurry away at night. Because I fucking love it. Seeing weird shapes over the hill behind my house run off as the sun comes up is a lot more spooky then having to fight them each morning, in my opinion.

First time I played VS I was wandering through a cave, turned a corner, and found myself within kissing distance of a bowtorn. Panicked and accidentally threw my torch as it waddled away, I fumbled around until I found the exit and sprinted, and right as I got out a big spike of bone embedded itself in the ground beside me. Ran home, turned the game off, and didn't touch it again for a week.
Hell of a first impression.
>>
I would absolutely love to play a handcrafted Vintage Story map one daywouldn't even be surprised if there is one out there
Not even necessarily a 100% handmade one, the world generation can be pretty good as is, but just someone going over a procedurally generated map and placing some ruins/traders by hand and maybe just adjusting a few terrain features here and there.
Because the better ruins and better traders mods add some really cool structures to the game, but that makes it even more disappointing that they exist "in isolation". Like I've got picrel in the middle of my island (screenshot taken form modpage) in a zone of temporal instability. But it sucks to know that that's just a happy accident, none of the structures around it really relate to it and any thoughts about who built this place and what made the island special to them is just shit I make up in my head.
Same for traders. There is a trader who lives in a little fortified hut near this temple in the middle of an open field. I can headcanon that he felt drawn to it and scavenges around it occasionally. But that's just a silly headcanon that doesn't make sense considering the things he sells.
Plus if all the stuff was placed by hand, you could have breadcrumbs leading from one point of interest to the next
>>
>>558596995
That's eerily close to my first encounter with one of those bell head motherfuckers, whatever they are called.
Hearing that sound and having no idea where it comes from or who makes it was peak horror. Especially since at that point I've only ever encountered drifters (and I'm not sure if the game even had any monsters beside the two)
>>
>>558597565
VS is just real fucking good at horror in general. Looting an abandoned mine and hearing a bell up ahead, then hearing them everywhere as more spawned in from behind, was a level of dread I haven't felt since nighttime in Darkwood.

>Darkwood
Don't even get me started man. Just the other day I thought about how that game made me jump at literally just pixelated text on a screen.
I was exploring some house that I was convinced was empty, suddenly the music faded out and I was left with deafening silence only disturbed by my footsteps and something moving around outsideturned out later it was just some animal, but I didn't know that at the timeand all of a sudden I see a line of text appearing in the darkness and it literally made me jump.
To this day I'm impressed how the game managed to pull that off.
Combed through my screenshots folder and I think it was this place, but I can't be sure.

Your computer has an address in the network. That's the IP.
When you access the computer from outside, you don't just "access the computer", since it does many things. You access an address AND a specific port. For example, to browse webs on http you use port 80, when you use https you use 443.
In general, ports are kept closed unless you are going to use them. by opening the ports you allow connections using that port.
NOW, chances are you are connecting to a router, which is what "provides you with internet", that means that for the connection to reach your computer you need it to go through your router, meaning, the port in your router must be opened too.
Any problem or question you have can most probably be resolved by chatgpt or an LLM of your choice.
I don't really care if you get to host this server, but chances are that you are going to be alive for a while, and computers are not going to stop existing for the time being, so it's nice to understand how they work. It can improve your life. Cheers.

I'll check it out. The thing is, I still want to keep the aesthetic as simple as possible. because once I get into super elaborate builds, that raises the standard I will aspire for all future buildings and I have first hand experience how that "softlocks" me from progressing, because I'm not in the mood to make a super pretty build, but also can't progress because I need a new building like a windmill or something to move forward.

>Unless it's a pine forest, pine have an extremely acid sap and will destroy local plants.
The fact that pine needles are slightly acidic gave way to this belief, but it's actually for how tightly compact their needles they are as a whole and don't let any light through
it's an evolutionary tactic to discourage growth of other plants to steal their nutrients
>>

The communists you meet, off the top of my head:
Evrart Claire - The union boss, a sleazy and so openly corrupt that both his enemies and underlings acknowledge it. Lies to you basically every time you talk to him. You can discover thathe's trying to break away from the company, and wants to traffic illegal drugs to make money.Towards the end of the game you can also find out thathe orchestrated events to try and start a violent conflict involving civilians to have an excuse to break away.. Not to mentionhe ordered a hit on the previous union boss, in order for him and his brother to take her position.
Call Me Manana - As his name suggests, he just wants to be lazy and not work. Directly tells you he just wants to have it all for himself. Probably the most affable of everyone here.
Cindy the Skull - More anarchist than anything imo, but pretty sure she gets labeled as commie and is part of the quest. A rebellious artist who vandalizes walls and hates the establishment.
The Students (can't remember their names) - These guys are the main meat of the quest, they're two students who have ran off the rest of their group by being extraordinarily insufferable. Basically the stereotypical commies you mentioned, they constantly go off about how X is fake communism or Y is bourgeois. Part of the quest is reading one of their books, where it goes into describing how communists are literal psychics that can speed up plant growth and have better sex and can crush airships with their mind. The Deserter(if you know you know) -The guy who actually killed your murder victim. Fully insane, still fighting a war that ended decades ago because he's bitter and can't move on. Stalks a woman and watches her bedroom through a peephole. Racist and sexist too. Takes potshots at whatever he doesn't like, whether it's objects or people. Killed the former union boss for the Claires.

Post got too long, but pretty much all the "good" characters in the game are the ones who avoid ideology. The MC himself has multiple conversations throughout the game which more or less spell out how he's not an actual believer in any of these ideologies, how could he be, he's an amnesiac and it's been less than a week. All the political posturing is cope for him totry and get his girl back. Whether it's through being a "normal" person as a moralist, being a man of the people as a communist, having money as an ultralib, or forcing her as a fascist. There's one character you can talk with near the very end of the game, where youmeet a giant stick insect and hallucinate a conversation with it. This is basically the least political character in the game, running on pure instinct. It's also the happiest and most uplifting character, who tells the MC to move the fuck on.This is in direct contrast withthe deserter, who's a communist who can't let go and move on. More or less a bad end for our MC if he goes down the same path.
To sum it up, yes some of the devs are commies. No, that doesn't make it a commie game. The entire story hinges on how none of the political views actually helped any of the common people, all these grand ideologies are just cope for personal problems. It's basically an anti-/pol/ game, and that includes leftypol and all the other shitflinging that goes on.

desu, making meaningful npcs is a hard task, such is the curse of Zomboid as well, unless you make dumb founded minecraft like villagers
>>
>>
>>558775612
Simple feature where you set up a "village" borders and then have these npc's travel only in the confines of it would be fun. Make them work the field tiles and cut grass.
And add simple "spots" that you can simulate foraging/woodcutting/huting if linked to nearby storage container and assigned a villager, all at the heavy debuff.
It would be enough desu, for start at least..

Chunkloading is and always will be the reason why that will never happen.
Some Minecraft mods have tried to work around that, like with MineColony and chunkloading around the city.
But in general it is impossible. The closest thing you can do something like that is in Rimworld or the Dynasty games.

Do you guys think something crippling indie devs growth is the fact that they make games without any new interesting mechanic or try to bandwagon recent trends without A SPICE?
I feel some indie devs tend to make games only they enjoy but the public would rather ignore it because they're not interesting or novel enough
Or maybe it's just luck?

Nta you're replying to, but sometimes I genuinely wonder what kind of turbo kike GW's got in their legal department, because shit like this is relatively common. Ie I still despise them for effectively forcing the astarte animation guy to cease n desist only to employ him and lock his works behind a subscription service, even going as far as to copyright reactions to the original video. GW's id one of the few companies id say would be a net improvement if they were gone from the picture asap, they're effectively a drain on their own setting due to greed and enforcement of monopoly for figurine trading.

Thoughts on Shadows of Doubt?
I played the Demo years ago and liked the concept, especially how you had to actually do "real" detective work by combing through files and addresses and shit and every person not connected to the case had a full routine and simulated life.
But the performance was abysmal and when it came out I've heard the content was very samey.
I've watched some gameplay and looks like it's gotten plenty of content and the performance has gotten better?
>>

>>558882263
Like the other anon said, that was all they could get VW on. You gotta understand legal action like this is all about the intent behind it. GW doesn't actually care about the pauldrons, they just want to cut down a potential competitor. Obviously they're not going to get support if they say that out loud, so they look for shit they can get the courts on their side with. The main purpose would be trying to scare VW devs with potential future legal action, since the big corp is going to have deeper pockets for lawyers than some nobody dev. The other side of it is that US IP law is retarded, if people don't defend their IP then the law basically says they don't own it. So people get stupidly litigious over small shit like that. Of course, all of this could be GW lying about the whole thing to save face.

In Blue Prince I finally made it to the antechamberand got the basement key, but I didn't know that was the reward. I had the fountain cleared for like 10 days but decided to drain the pool in my previous run since I had no idea when I'd stumble on the basement key. Since I didn't get Pump Room this run, I had no way of draining it again, and since I also didn't get the room to store items I had to give up on the key despite having 90 steps on me.
I'd also like to know if I needto drain Greenhouse in the Pump Room to draft it because I've never seen it so far in my 12h of playtime

It is Games Workshop were talking of here, they're notorious for their incredibly predatory application of IP's to shutdown percieved competition. They're similar to Nintendo on that matter, the kind of folks to patent basic gameplay or concepts then sue you for pattern infrigement.
Like im not even surprised it happened, and they did way worse before. Ie google up "games workshop legal debacle" to get an idea how they allow themselves to behave.

Been playing Tiny Rogues and really enjoying it. Love how with each win the game slowly introduces new things, and that runs are a reasonable length. The fact that the meta progression isn't cancer like a lot of roguelites definitely helps.
Though I have to say it feels way too easy to get overpowered. I have no idea what the floor 10 boss even does because the times I've made it there he just dies in seconds. The difficulty seems to slowly increase so maybe it gets harder later on. Though I hope it doesn't become one of those games where instead of balancing the player the devs instead balanced the game around the played being overpowered.

Not really. Return to Moria is kinda like Abiotic Factor: there are different areas with their own loot, like the habitations district, the elven quarter, the mines, and the depth.
Unlike Abiotic Factor, though, the layout of these is randomly generated, and not in a good way, more like in a "stretch assets to make the game appear bigger" way. It's not uncommon to see the same building twice, thrice.
Fuck me, I just wanted a survival game with dwarves and Return to Moria has fun survival ideas, where you can sing while mining to keep stamina or, or having a meal fitting the time of day for higher stamina, or even beer, but the rest is just so bad, it's annoying.

They spawn at light level 7 or below. Which just bright enough that you can't fucking tell if a random corner in your otherwise well lit room is safe or not.
They can also only spawn in air or grass above a solid block, so you can place random rocks on the ground or chisel your floors to drigger proof your home. There are a few mods that can show you valid spawn locations.
I just use a mod that changes their light limit to level 4.

Weird, you shouldn't be sick until you ate raw stuff. Follow the soup recipes you find in the PDA.
Also, if you find a barrel in the wild, take it. You can fill it with water.
I love that part of Abiotic Factor where you can wait later in the game and build your own wooden barrel.
Or you can use a barrel you find.

There's plenty of base building, people sometimes make small bases as they progress through an area so they don't have to go back to their main hub each time even.
Regarding soups, there are recipes for those, press J, look at the top left corner, they should be somewhere around there.

Okay so for the 5-6 bucks I got it for Shadows of doubt is definitely worth it. I'm usually not a fan of procedural generation, but this is one of the rare games where I feel like it being procedural generated might even improve the experience for me. So far I'm enjoying the side jobs even more than the "main" investigations and I assume after a while they'll all start to feel samey but until then it's a fun time,
Also nice how it has some life-simmy stuf that feels very fitting.

Crafted the hacking gadget and opened my first locked door. Found how to go to the DLC thingy I bought with the game.
I don't know how you are supposed to make a base there. There are plenty of power sockets around but I don't really know where would be a good defensible place.
Should I move my base there?

Whatever you want, the four origins are the four D&D archetypes (Warrior, Mage, Priest and Thief). I'd say pick Knigh's Child because you can dish out decent damage. Choose the party members so that you have a varied party. Pick easy mode so you can savescum.

Chances are you have some anti radiation tablets here and there? You can eat some irradiated food.
You can also as the anon said buy some chips or such.
You can also start fishing maybe?
I don't think the game gives you enough resources to survive off plants alone at the start.

Then the other side of the coin is these mouth breathers defaulting to "just buy better hardware" to run games that would run just fine on a PS2 but somehow take up 128GB of RAM and 40+GB while shitting up the steam marketplace cause their discordnigger ass is too lazy to compress game files.

Pretty much what it says on the label.
Chapters go 4stages => 4stages => 2stages, big boss being the final stage of each chapter, the storyline is missing the final 2 stages.
Beyond that, there are a whole lot of encores (which are like extra stages that I don't think anyone expected, really) yet to be implemented, there's a difficulty level which is expected to introduce more mechanics missing as well, every weapon is in though.
You probably noticed Fraud got released a few days ago, probably the most ambitious patch to date and ever since holy fucking shit does it go crazy, but sadly it has also worsened performance for many people and introduced bugs here and there, devs are looking to fix stuff at the moment.
I want to believe the game will reach 1.0 release within the year but it does feel like wishful thinking to a degree.

I don't know man. Ten steps later there's an interaction that says you can use it to go to the roof but it just cuts back without a scene change. Doesn't say it's blocked because it's a demo or anything, just loops back without feedback.

The lorry driver and measurehead were silly, but they were silly in a fictional way. Yeah sure all the countries Measurehead was talking about could be compared to irl countries, but there's a layer between the two, it helps with suspension of disbelief. Unless the game is set in modern times, seeing "abyssy" just takes me out of it.

thanks to the anon who recced me project silverfish here a few months back, i finally got around to playing it, and it actually wasn't as bad as i expected
the good:
>looting and exploration
moment to moment exploration is fun and tense, the feel of it is great. experimenting with anomalies, looking for loot, inventory management, figuring out better ways to get around locks, etc. map is fun to explore from what i've played and there is a bunch of secrets and spots you can only find with hints
>anomalies
if you don't count a few basic bitch anomalies/monsters ripped straight from stalker, the paranormal surprised me every time i encountered it it for the first time, and NPCs seem to interact with them in different ways too. the world itself isn't super readable, and you'd often have to guess what things do and experiment, which is a good thing. sometimes the game even throws you a few red herrings here and there, and i liked them
>emergent stuff
well, i didn't plan on siding with the reds, but the faction for which i've been doing a dead-drop retrieval mission has rightfully put me on the end of their barrel because i haven't paid attention to the mission description and the nondescript bag which i thought was just loot turned out to be my objective. well, now i've got two assault rifles on me with 2 magazines each, and an angry squad of freelancers on my tail (literal), leaving the only neutral faction to be the commies, as i've managed to piss off few other distrustful parties while trying to survive a monster attack. and i don't even know where the red settlements are, i am just... wandering right now and hoping that i accidentally won't make more enemies
>gunplay
it is tactical and quite fun, non-monster NPCs are pretty smart and you will die quickly out on the open, although weapon feedback (and feedback in general) sucks. i like that you actually have to id targets using tools and general environment knowledge to know whether shooting them is even worth it

the bad:
>stockiness and cheapness
it's cheap. undeniably cheap. not because of the stock assets, i've seen other indies do pretty impressive stuff even with free models in ways that never stood out, but just... i feel like the dev doesn't actually like most of the development process and just does bare minimum to plug the holes that are essential for gameplay. animations are bad and sounds are unbearably stock. some things are obviously higher effort than others in the way they are implemented, and there's this weird, specific cadence to it i can't quite pin down, sorry if this comes off as baseless. i guess i am tainted by labour of love solo devs who are autistic enough to spend hundreds of hours on all the little things, but here mechanics and presentation of stuff that's not really the main focus feels skimmed over
>not true open world
the map is just a set of quantifiable levels and your character takes some time to "travel" between them, which i think doesn't fit the stalker-esque gameplay at all. it breaks continuity and introduces cheese. some of my most memorable events in those games happened during travel, which also raised the stakes. bandit ambushes, finding hidden stashes or allies in need of help, etc - it's all abscent from here. the game also takes abad hit to the atmosphere because of that
>melee
melee fucking sucks. the animations are bad and have bad telegraphs, feedback is bad and i found myself never being sure about whether my attack would hit or not, and overall it's just unpleasant, which is shit considering that you really don't want to waste ammo on random dogs and zombies
>perfomance
it runs on ue5. that's all you need to know. it's okay-ish on high settings on smaller levels, but the moment you go somewhere open and there are enemies, ragdolls, weather effects and other shit, you will have to turn the visuals down
