The sad thing is if someone asked if I had a solution, I’d have to admit I don’t have one. At least not without tearing it all apart and basically making a new game which is pointless. If at least the game had map environment interaction the game can go the route of fire emblem / gfl2 / etc kinda games, but fuck with the game as is the only time battles seem somewhat fresh is during packs because you get an overworld to move around in and a rather good rate of new enemies and shit. Raids on the other hand is just unga bunga patchwork. Perhaps if we had grids that were more engaging instead of rectangle vs boss the fights might be more appealing.

Like if say, you had a boss, then surrounding him is a square/rectangle/etc and everything in that outside of the boss itself is somewhere you can move your characters. And also the boss has to be able to also somewhat move, not just disable some tiles on your side, but like say if a giant uses his fist to hammer some tiles his fist is stuck there for a turn or two and is now considered an enemy tile or something you can target. We need both visual and mechanical fluidity and motion progression so it doesn’t seem like a retarded DDR puzzle even if it really is one.

I dunno it’s just a dumb idea I just thought of, but you get my point right?
