The Rubinstein mini saga by Agadmator was pretty good. The games were pure kino. Rubinstein had such a crisp style and the way he was grinding down the romanticucks was a thing of beauty. My advice: play the opening anyway and if you don't know the move, then look up the move afterwards. Then you are more likely to remember it next time, and then you will remember the first move and not know the 2nd move, so do the same thing with that and keep learning 1 move at a time for each game.

Sorry to double post but now that I look at it I realized that I may have oversold it a little because there's only 2 big variations and neither of them is that long but the move itself does come out of left field. It seemed more complicated yesterday. Even the resulting position with the queen/two connected passed pawns/minor piece vs queen/2 minor pieces endgame is not that difficult since black can't really advance the pawn. White has to be patient but eventually those pawns will fall.

In summary, the International Olympic Committee unrestricted Russian and Belarussian players' access to sport so that they could compete without political interference and recommended other sports orgranizations to do the same, and FIDE decided to act accordingly. Looking through it haven't found that one yet but found this interesting tweet by him, he apparently has been on this problem for a while now he has a lot of tweets about it. I do think there might be an issue in his logic here. He's not making clear exactly when these two screenshots happened, and so he's leaving the possibility that, say, the screenshot on Feb 22nd happened at 11pm and the screenshot that happened on Feb 23rd happened at 6pm. It would seem ridiculous that they report more players having joined in the last 24 hours than you calculate is the difference between the player counts at these two points but you must mind that the "last 24 hours" were from feb 22 at 6pm to feb 23 at 6pm. To make the point extremely apparent, say you took these two screenshots right before and right after midnight. The player count difference would be ridiculously small, and yet the "last 24 hours" would show a player count increase of much more.

Had a miraculous classical victory today. Feels good. The opponent was completely dominating and pushing back all my pieces but faltered during the conversion and I managed to came out ahead in the complications. The cherry on top was that in the post mortem he kept showing me ways in which he could've won and every potential move I was thinking about as a response he refuted in his calculation. He must've thought I was a lucky blitz-brained retard because I started blitzing when I realized how bad the postion is. Oh well, at least my conversion was clean.

If your "World Championship" can't even attract the strongest player(s), can you really call it a world championship any more? We saw this happen in the computer arena as well. The last few decades of the WCCC barely attracted a handful of engines below the top 20, and Stockfish never participated. It was a "championship" in name only until it was finally canceled in 2024.

FIDE should either reform the championship cycle or do away with the title altogether.
