I don't know if this is a common sentiment in the kiseki series, but I really miss the old isometric view and low detailed overworld models. It left more to the imagination especially in cutscene fights, and didn't have that uncanny environment feeling that all the new games give me.

I used up all my potion at that point. It's easy to retry and gitgud but that first phase can't be sped up no matter how good you are, and even on normal it takes as long as inferno. There's also a similar bug like the original ys x where it could loop the spitting phase without putting its head down. I rank this falcom's worst boss of all time, yes I included tx's bosses.

The worst thing about it is that the first few times when I was fighting it the boss almost immediately killed me in the second phase before I could really ascertain what was happening. In the end the hoverboard was more useful for the first phase than the second where it was more of a hindrance because of the slope. Once I learned how to survive the initial attack of the second phase it was easy enough to chip the boss down. I didn't use any items, but on Inferno the damage is just too high for healing potions to be that useful.

Why don't people like Lloyd anyway? I think there's a place for a protagonist who doesn't need a character arc (and I think he does get a minor one in not being so naive and starry-eyed nad learning to navigate politics)

The difference between Estelle and Lloyd is that Estelle is too dependant on others in Sky's story. Lloyd has innate determination that Estelle never really had as seen by her being completely mindbroken at the start of SC when Joshua left. Estelle does make use of the power of bonds like all of the protagonists do really as she fights and beats enemies she has no business beating, but in Sky she doesn't have the personal development to go all of the way as she only starts to develop that when she starts chasing Renne. Rean could make up for all of his mental problems with his training but Estelle at best got a bastardised version of Helix with a rod instead of a sword. Even for all of her talk about finding Joshua, he found her. She didn't find him. Estelle's the kind of character where if you made her a non-combatant and just had her tag along with the playable party that she could fill almost the exact same role as she does in Sky.

Wrong.
Estelle is kidnapped by the big baddies of the series and asked to join their cause while Lloyd is arrested for treason and looked down upon by his fellow countrymen. The situation, tone and circumstances surrounding these events are completely different.
Rean's case is an actual reference to the Glorious scene in SC because Cold Steel I and II in general retread several events from the Sky games and actively reference quests and themes from Estelle's journey to heroism. The very first chapter in CSI, Class VII's field exercise in Celdic, contain a quest where Rean has to find herbs for the local priest and a showdown against thieves who've stolen something precious from the town in a forest area.
These nods to the original first game in the series were added because Cold Steel was a fresh start and a return to form after the two Crossbell games with their unique structure based in one location, which mostly served to establish the conflict with Erebonia.

I hate that I have such low expectations of Falcom that I think that the finale of Horizon was really cool but can sort of already predict the ways it will fuck up just based on previous examples

-The cast is holding itself together because they are separated but will be bloated to CS4 size when they inevitably come together
-I can't feel any sort of sadness or emotion toward Agnes because as cool as that time sequence was, she will come back (unless they pull a TTGL Nia and Falcom absolutely does not have the balls for that)
-The Vestiges are going to disappoint in some way by just being boss walls with the only solace to me being that they (probably) will all actually die/disappear.
-Hamilton will be exonerated and be seen as done nothing wrong. I'm not saying the alternative of killing her was happening, but I mean in the sense that it'll be like George and any kind of nuance that some kind of wrong was committed will be swept under the wrong.
-And lastly, there is 0 way they will have Van have a canon choice. None, nada. I actually thought there was a chance of it happening before this game but the confession rejection scene sealed it. Not that he rejected Agnes in itself but more like that they gave an out for it. Also, no chance of making fans of Shizuna disappointed.
