What I don't get is what Dario is really thinking. Scummy as the AI business is at least Altman understands that he actually has to make money to run a company, and its not like the US won't find some company to do its bidding sooner or later, so this whole thing just seems like a self-deluded call to righteousness that'll land Anthropic in deeper fiscal and legal trouble. I think Dario is genuinely just an insane SV cultist with a god complex. This becomes apparent if you try to read any of his essays, especially after recent events. He will write these long, rambling passages about how he doesn't believe in scifi interpretations of AI and then say LLMs are a threat to humanity and that Claude has feelings. All while ignoring the actual, rampant threats of AI like psychosis, misinfo campaigns, and flooding communication platforms with slop. Dude is just crazy, there's no point trying to make sense of his thoughts.

I don't think you guys realize how big of a deal this is.
Anthropic being designated a supply chain risk means that ANY American company that has a government contract is completely forbidden from doing business with them going forward. That includes AWS.
If you used Claude, expect it to become almost impossible to find a provider that lets you use it very soon. Also, Anthropic doesn't actually own any of the GPUs it uses and any companies thatrent GPUs to them are no longer allowed to do so if they have government contracts. The government will also stonewall any data center plans that have ties to Anthropic.
Unless Anthropic reverses course, Claude is effectively dead.

Anons, I'm not shitposting, like I want some legit discussion. Would you say gemini 3 is legit almost opus-tier? Because I've been using it, and....it almost feels better at times. It does need handholding and for you to set it up, like 'don't read my thought, don't do this, don't do that, do this' like for some very obvious shit. But once you're past that, it seems great. I love the prose, too. Claude types like a redditor sometimes. Gemini feel like it was trained on literature, maybe?
