It was always dumb that you could build a ship capable of interstellar flight and biological stasis from random scrap on a dusty rimworld with no cleanroom facilities or vehicle construction infrastructure.
It makes the gravship total nonsensical. The gravship is about the best you could expect of people living in the galactic equivalent of Arkansas.

The only thing I hate about SOS2 is super-unbalanced ship battles <5 mins into your derelict ship start, and most enemies being able to run you down because ridiculous speed advantage. otherwise, that shit is king. I did enjoy odyssey and the gravship, however even though it's a cheap knockoff of a free mod combined with a little exploration content.

You know what would have been better than Gravship and asteroids: uninhabited (by humans), mostly dead worlds in the same solar system as the Rimworld, each with it's own theming and resources (dead machine world for components/advanced components/plasteel, with no atmosphere and mech threats; jungle world with perhaps large amounts of ambrosia or other nice crops but major animal threats and perhaps a noxious atmosphere). Basically what Factorio did with it's space expansion
And instead of a gravship or an SOS ship, you build pic related. A giant super heavy lift vehicle made of simple steel with large engineering margins, the sort of thing we could have built in the 50s. The sort of thing you can actually build without nanoengineering. It's only initial job is to ferry cargo from the dead planets back to your base.
I just don't feel compelled to build the gravship since it's underwhelming.

the snap zoom and pan is because it's a Ronald Moore show. it's a signature thing he does. gives it a sort of documentary feel.
the wave is slow because it's huge, and it's huge because the engine is huge. that thing is bigger than the Saturn V and far more massive.
can't say if the plume is accurate, but it looks cool.
it's too bad we never built Sea Dragon and let NASA set the tone in space (pure research) for decades.

The insect situation is getting out of hand. I thought that it might be all of these bugs which was making my camera movements stutter despite having high FPS but it turns out that removing the camera+ mod and replacing it with "SimpleCameraSetting" fixed the performance issue completely.

Double layer granite for external walls, then use single layer wood for entrance, that way raiders will tend to ignore the granite walls in favor of the wood "weak points". No, you just have to deal with the high resistance. It goes down the same as will does as recruitment attempts continue. As long as they're a slave, you can't affect resistance, the only way is to turn them back into a prisoner and use the recruit setting.

After learning the grenade launcher requires a machining table to function, I thought about a .50/14.5mm machine gun, but that needs a hi-tech research bench. Sabot wants fucking a hi-tech research bench. Anyway Scythers and Lancers are substantially less armored than I thought. FMJ is better against them, AP is roughly equivilent against them, it isn't until there are Pikemen that AP rounds become better, and even then not by much.

It increases it but very slowly, might be a bit different for 1.6 version
like 2-5 points passive per second without shooting and a sudden 22 point spike as the pawn is beginning to shoot. It was tested on Double Passion pawn, expect it to be even lower for 0 passion pawn (checked it, it affects gain speed on the dummy too)

It's actually incredibly useful. It's a rec item that trains shooting or melee, that alone is huge. The xp gain is enough to counter XP loss even at higher levels. It has a work priority, so if your pawns have nothing to do, you can have them training all day long. Or you can designate low skill pawns to invest time in getting better in a safe, predictable way.
It's slow, which I feel is balanced, but again, a steady trickle of XP can be huge in a long playthrough.

I've tried planning castle towns out before but they always end up looking too regimented so now I just wing it based on the natural features of the map. If there's a big mountain I'll build a keep half-embedded in it and make the surrounding town expand from that. If there's a bay, like in pic related, I'll try to build some kind of harbour castle. Making bedrooms no bigger than 4x4 or 4x5 seems to help with space a lot.

It's the Tilt the Planet mod and its "Realism" changes
I've given up trying to keep them turned off because the mod author has feature crept the fuck out of this mod since it launched as a simple lighting and world gen change that made the Rimworld have an axial tilt.
Trying to remove the mod now would most likely break my save so I'm just along for the ride now.
I do honestly like the idea of walls and shit having more health now because CE anti building weapons just delete walls in a single hit in most cases which is both annoying and boring.
It does mean that currently, a built wall of most materials has more health than unhewn stone which is hilarious.

Cut chunks now drop like 1500 blocks and likewise all my existing walls are worth about half their build cost, which is in the thousands of bricks per wall, when deconstructed.
The colony has been repairing every wall on the map for like 2 seasons straight now since the HP changes the mod made went through. They've finally moved to the perimeter where the wall will be hollowed to repair the inside by simply filling it back in.

Hate to make a tech support question, but I swear my pawns weren't this dumb last time I played. I'm assuming it's something to do with work priorities, but getting them to start any construction or haul anything is a nightmare, and even making it a priority they'll carry some resources over and then refuse to ever touch it again. It might be a slight issue with the Pick Up And Haul mod. I find that it sometimes makes my pawns take ridiculously inefficient routes when hauling (which makes it look like they're ignoring other work priorities), but I think that's because my stockpiles are scattered all over the place. Aside from increasing work priorities and placing your stockpiles all in one place there's not much you can do about it.

Either make a bunker on the water with bridges and shoot them as they approach around the beach; or build a wall around your trees and funnel them. Or both to deny them tree cover while giving yourself a huge advantage.
I'm not sure how long range the weapons you have are, but you could probably even build a bunker around the right-most tidal generator and have some gun emplacements facing both north and south and cover both approaches at once.Haven't played with CE enough to know how long-range they are.

Yeah you're right, I should build a fort out there. I've been busy for ages building the throne room in the north and I've neglected my southern defences for a while. I'll probably move the sea fort to a more central location now that the throne room is finished. The real threat to my base is when a 100+ man raid spawns on the map edge right next to my base.
As for the range, my rifles and gun emplacements could definitely cover both approaches from the tidal generator (they have 55 to 80+ range).

Natural sunlight, and sun lamps provide 100% lighting. All other lights only provide 50% lighting. Most plants (including all food plants except nutrifungus) require at least 51% lighting to grow. Therefore, wall lights can't be used to grow food.

Armor comes from "Bunny Armour From Hooman Cute", the SA0 patch for realistic body has the mod patched to have breast scaling.
Weapon and head attachment come from "Wolfein Race" mod. A lot of the gear is pretty op, but also kind of a pain to make. I like the aesthetic.
Race is Impid, but i had the race modified to include genes from "AFU's cosmetic gene expanded", specifically the pointed ears, demon horns and lovely demon tail.
Body mod is "[NL] Realistic Body". Face is [NL] Facial Animation , both the WIP and Experimentals.

yeahhh I also adjusted the KidShirt a looooot as well, because the Child body was poking through it at all angles really bad, similar for a lot of clothes and I converted the normal Duster into a Kid one (for the standard Child body)
Now the plan is to patch/edit all the clothes for the bigbooty body you sent me the other day so I can have the best of both worlds ingame. and then share it here for you when its done (if you wanna use it~).
Right now I want to make a few more articles of clothing like a Tank-top and maybe a pair of visual shoes or something, longer Pants, etc. (after making adjustments for the kyojiri-style for all other apparel if some of them need it)
