People say platline is the big filter of EV/IV but imo it was putting this together. I never played with AE2 and learning it took a while, but now that I know how it works and spent a week putting this together, making everything else is a breeze. I blasted through the Rhodium/Palladium part of the platline because I could easily shift items around and build LCRs/etc.
It feels like energy is the next big barrier though, Nitrobenzene is not doing it anymore and I don't want to do vac nukes.

(assuming they didn't change it in a weird way)
Each small cable can carry 8 channels each, I can't see any reason to put so many of the thick ones around it, a single thick cable can be bifurcated into 4 sets of thin cables each carrying 8 p2p tunnels
>>
>>
>>558859591
well as long as you keep it in mind when/if it's time to upgrade it, dunno how many channels gtnh uses but that shape will get you maximum 2240-2304 depending on how you wire the p2ps, also I read they're expensive but the smart cables are a godsend, so replacing those ugly 8 big cables with a single smart one will probably be a better idea in the long run

Unfortunate time for the thread to die, oh well. TJF here is your recap:
pathserb currently down. Which is just as well since we have updates.
ALL Create addons are now on Create v6 FABRIC.
We can ditch the pathforge plan if you want and just stay on Fabric. ALL our Create addons can be updated.
The last holdout was Diesel generators. I've taken it upon myself to drag this one over the line. It's currently being reviewed and will soon hit Modrinth. But in the meantime we can already do the update with my build.
HERE is the jar: https://gofile.io/d/Q0Ma31
This version was forked a long time ago and is very far behind upstream. That means:
- NO andesite girders, chemical turrets, entity filters, any of those new toys
- YES fix for explosions crashing the game when empty fuel canisters or steam engines are around

What are the "easy" tech mods on 1.21.1?
I figured I'd finally check out cobblemon, so I'm trying to build a minimal modlist around it, and figured I want a tech mod - just something to set up a few simple automations and free up more time for exploration/catching/etc. I don't want it to distract too much, so I was thinking of something like Thermal Expansion, but seems they never ported.
Do I just shove in Mekanism and ignore the high-tier stuff? Is 1.21.1 EnderIO stable yet? Or is there some new hotness for memeversions that I'm not aware of?
>>
I should've researched gtnh before I started but wanted to go in blind. This shit sucks but I find myself booting it up every couple days to clear one more node on the quest book. I just want to automate and build my factory already.

There are 2 other packs I haven't played but from what I saw, they look very good, I plan on playing them after they get a few more updates and have the time for them, but they seem to be in a very good condition already so you shouldn't have issues playing them now, as they are both several years old by now.
Enigmatica 2: Expert - Extended
https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/enigmatica-2-expert-exte nded
TerraFirmaGreg-Modern
https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/terrafirmagreg-modern
I'll probably play Enigmatica first, it's a more polished version of the popular Enigmatica 2 Expert but with more content, bug fixes and QoL.
TerraFirmaGreg looks super cool to me, it's TerraFirma but with Gregtech, looks very polished too, progression seems slow but it has much better early game than GTNH imo. Very chill and even relaxing, no stupid insane mobs spawning at night, they only spawn in caves! The overworld is safe from them!

Running a screen recorder always tanks your fps. This causes contraptions to jankily skip position like that. The video isn't even that bad.
Personally I always choose a fixed camera position and try not to move at all during the recording. Create has redstone remotes, you can trigger anything even in F1 mode, just rightclick. Still lots of fumbled footage I have to admit.

You could also do Metallurgy 4 on 1.12 for lots of fantastical metal types and new armors and weapons. A bunch of the sets are pretty dwarfy, like carmot tools which all have a bronze, steam-punky aesthetic
>>
>>558893285
Either that or I was going to grab Tinker's and use the Embers addon to exclusively forge new tools/armor with Embers' stamper and melter. I think forging your own gear from melted alloys like that would fit more, and limiting it to Embers structures would limit getting the strong TC shit until later.

metallurgy works with tinkers which means it would also work with the embers tinker addon, so you could make ticon armors and weapons out of fantasy metals using the embers stamper.
I make all of my swords out of vyroxeres sword blades (caustic green poisonous metal) and golden midasium guards and hilts

I thought there's a reason the tool mod du jour in nu-versions was normal tools + apotheosis
Tinkers was made for older minecraft because of how the tool system worked, nowadays it's different and the parts of tinkers that got grafted in don't make sense

it's not exactly what you're asking for, but immersive engineering has redstone wire that work like the normal wires where you can connect a wire to any two nodes as long as the nodes aren't super far apart and aren't obstructed by anything, then you can sequence these nodes for a perpetually long redstone cable

ineffable glass is gated behind either me doing a lot of thaumcraft, or going deeper into a roguelike dungeon
I probably need to get around to thaumcraft for nanoboots of the traveler though, so maybe I just bite the bullet and do that next. It's that, nasa workbench and associated space stuff, or PTFE automation (or at least batching a ton for now).

The game is the most fun starting from your tinkers hammer and ending at around either platline or the assembly line.
The earlygame is "grindy", but it's also fun. Midgame is a lot of looking at an ME terminal

Making the first large chemical reactor makes life so much better. I was also able to get enough PTFE from a quest to make the controller, and the quest for that game me enough PTFE to make a whole LCR without needing to make any first (which is super nice, since the LCR recipes are a lifesaver).
Ran it at EV because it perfect overclocks anyways, so might as well. Everything in it seems lightning fast compared to basically anything else I have.

>>559039736
Yeah, I remember it was an alpha release, which is what was throwing me off. This new Aether II is just the original Aether with worse models and slight QoL changes, as far as I saw. The only way to make a good successor to the Aether at this point is to just not make a successor to the Aether. There's a reason people still love the old one despite how dated it is, after all.
>>
>>559039983
old Aether has some sovl but unfortunately could not keep up with the "dimensions need 1000 questlines" trend, or resource harvesting is mid. Aether II kinda(?) tried to fix that but was pretty good. I'm still using Aether in my toymy but its gonna get some work done.

>minecolonies
Hate that mod, NPCs are dumb and totally player dependent, buildings must be block for block exactly the same as the preset blueprint including the fucking texturing on walls and floor, you have to craft every single exact block that goes into every building instead of giving the NPCs the raw materials for them to craft, invaders spawn out of nowhere and are just a boring ass mechanic with no strategy involved, lots of brainless busy work, the reward for making a fuctioning town is nothing worthwhile.
Imagine babysitting dumb NPCs, modders just include Minecolonies in packs because of the free starter base.
>>
>>
>>559042580
the metallurgy parts aren't insanely OP based on the minimal tinkering I've done. Some give you crazy durability, but even mid-high tier combat parts are still just on par with manyullyn, they just have different passives and you get the prestige of forging a full set of mithril armor and an adamantine battleaxe. Btw, use total tinkers if you want some cool new tinkers weapon types, like the aforementioned battleaxes

>is immune to projectiles, is much faster than almost all other mobs, designed to fuck over archers
>has an AOE that drains your health after you've done decent damage to it, frostwalker too because why the fuck not
This mob punches so much higher above the rest of the shit in the mod you're basically required to have a full set of gear on to counter it. otherwise if you can't fly or teleport you might as well just dig a hole or pillar up and wait for daytime. because it has such a huge detection radius by the time you run out of the first one's, another one that spawned has likely locked onto you and is heading your way.
Fuck this thing. I just make the stalker not spawn outside of dark oak forests so i don't have to deal with it every single time i want to do something at night. Worst designed piece of content in the mod by a long shot and actively drags the whole thing down. I otherwise like born in chaos, and this singular mob dragged my opinion of it straight into mediocre territory because of how fucking annoying it is to have to very specifically prepare for this one asshole.

Set up a small thaumcraft area in my starter base - also bit the bullet and spent the 4 EV circuits to make the nano-helmet, so I could also get the nano-goggles of revealing (and also got the nano-boots of the traveler on the way).
I only have 1 thaum-related thing I want before space (a skullfire sword to get the nether stars I need), but I'll need to figure out the easiest source of stability for me (I'm low on quicksilver since I use it for gold and PMP, and there's a lot below the altar already) before crafting it.
Thaumcraft 4, although a bit tedious, has so much charm that I still like doing it. I think that its integration into gtnh is one of the highlights of the pack, and replacing it with a homegrown mod would be a huge disaster.

You can add a zero at the end for both versions that's just common math. It helps out for single digit numbers, I've just specified it
So, 9 is 90. 7 is 70.
If you elide the 0, it's still inferior.
9 is less than 14, 7 is less than 12. 70 is less than 120.
I'm just trying to help you visualize your retardation.

I just want power I can forget about whilst I leave my server running in the background for a couple weeks
I'd have to do a nether tree or bee setup for oil and whilst I've pursued them benzene so good
>>
>>559112327
nether tree is easy and oil is far more reliable
soul sand is free from nether tree setup (cobble from ExUtils world interaction cobble gen)
oil is centrifuged from soul sand by steel steam separator which fuels itself for free from coal dust from the soul sand
oil is pumped to distillation setup, if you have distil. tower you can get extra fluids on top of heavy+light fuel to in turn power itself and the refining setups, I use refinery gas for the tower and napthenic acid for the desulfurization lcr and diesel mixer, and you can pump the ref. gas to your cetane boosting setup
then you can crack and distill your naptha for ethylene and more fuels which gets you 90% of the way to HOG which just mogs the fuck out of nitrobenzene, but cetane boosted is more than enough
never once had my setup fail in any way and I'm running a heavy ae2 system at mid IV, I afk all the time
>>
>>559113359
Yeah I'm gonna do none of that for now and just have a single (maaaybe 2) MV distillery for benzene and a single fluid extractor for the charcoal

I have an idea for a horror mod that I'm in the process of making and I want your thoughts on it. I'm not going to spoil anything, but I have ideas for a set of really unsettling monsters that'll (hopefully) will scare you or make you feel unnerved. My idea is that you'll just play the game normally, like it's vanilla, and these will happen when you least suspect it. That anticipation will make it all the more scary. I think you should just add my horror mod to an otherwise vanilla world. I'll be sure to share it when I release it.

It looks like applying damage upgrades to the shock orb projector also makes the explosion AOE bigger, and you can apply damage upgrades infinitely, so I'm thinking about adding like 2,000 of them and making a portable death star cannon.
