Probably, for me it's most about new ways of playing. I'd add Mualani and Kinich to the list of fun characters. I think the North Korean characters, even if they are very strong, they are clones of each other so the Bina is all you need to unlock Lunar gameplay without interacting with the rest of the cast.

Flins is probably the worst of all the lunar carries but not by much. He is the easiest to use, but is VERY reliant on having Ineffa in his teams, not as much as Nefer relies on Lauma though. Ironically Varka might make more sense on your account, none of the units currently in the game really support him all that well and a few future supports are supposedly gonna be tailor made for him, it's a gamble atm.
Next banners are Skirk and Escoffier which are very strong together but suck dick if you only get 1. If you already have Furina definitely go for them, she is their best teammate.

I think the main problem in genshin are characters and their uh... writing? Like none of the characters have anything that makes them stand out nowdays.
At least compared to HSR, they have characters carry the whole game became gameplay and story fucking sucks there. Only bland characters were Elysia and that new chink from this patch.
Like only someone interesting was Sandrone and they fucking killed her off and gonna rewrite her into another boring hard tack of a character.
Like take fucking Nefer Lauma Bina Linnea what the fuck is all of that fucking slop, just compare them to Cheld, Hutao or Klee. The difference is day and night.

I think a big issue is the lack of conflict between playable characters and the need for perfection. If a playable Genshin character has a flaw, it's often something small and ultimately irrelevant like 'she eats too much' or 'he's a bit shy'. Otherwise, they are usually upstanding, morally tight people who excel at their jobs and any issues they did have are in the past. I'm sure it's probably a Chinese thing but there are multiple gacha that have succeeded from having flawed characters or just plain assholes in their casts. It feels there are no surprises when it comes to character interactions, because you know most characters will be polite and cordial and few fun dynamics will ever pop up because it's not allowed. Ifa and Ororon being bros and Zizhi's rage are good, but they're outliers.

Emilie's release was really weird. First off, she had no relevance throughout the entire Fontaine arc. Unlike the Naltan releases who kinda did show up every now and then, Emilie basically came right the fuck out of nowhere with nothing except a couple of voicelines mentioning her.
Then, she was shafter all the way to 4.8, the last patch before Natlan. This is already a bad thing, but Emilie got shafted to the SECOND HALF OF THE PATCH to leave room for the Navia and Nilou reruns, who has tons of relevance in the Simulanka event. She played second fiddle even in her own release patch.
Her own release then had basically no fanfare. She just kinda flopped out in the second half, with all the Natlan character teasers already out of the way. She got completely eclipsed by not just the Natlan hype, but also the Natlan drama. She basically just dropped out unceremoniously, alongside her story quest and no other signs of her existence
And then she got completely neglected for the entirety of Natlan. Zero event appearances, zero quest presences, zero voicelines, zero cutscenes, nothing. She had no appearances whatsoever outside of being on Kinich's premium team. She genuinely felt like a cryptid at times
And then, after over a year of not existing, she made her first non-story quest appearance in the Nefer curatorium minigame, where she shows up for like a couple of seconds. Radio silence for a bit until this patch, where she shows up in 2 of the minigames, and I believe she also got an anecdote.
Some people think she's ugly as sin but I love my cryptid wife who appears only once per year.

Not only did Columbina release in 6.3 aka 3 patches of not having her and Aino being near mandatory, but also plenty current endgame wants 2 ascendant gleam/lunar dps aka you need Aino for the second unless you're strictly using 2 Nod-krai already ala Nefer/Lauma or Flins/Ineffa.
If you to want to use non-nod krai dps, Aino is a must. I straight up couldn't clear with Furina and had to swap her for Aino and she made the clear a joke.

I don't think there's a perfect Genshin comparison. Genshin has seen too much powercreep recently and the hexerei buffs were too weak. The only meta relevant characters are 5 stars released within the last 12-15 months and a few 4 stars.
The closest comparison I can think of is a free Furina and free Xianyun, and then the rest would be characters like Eula, Klee, Cyno, Kokomi type strength.

Im still rocking around old units, Im pretty sure HSR and those other turn based games are a little more demanding with party makeup. Ill go and squander money on pretty weapons im pretty sure thats not a viable strategy with HSR

How is the powercreep in HSR overall?
In genshin it's incredible how bennet, fischl and sucrose which are 1.0 4* units are still really good and part of some meta comps.
I can also still use my outdated ganyu, diluc, etc. and mog everything in the overworld at least, I don't know if there's really an overworld comparison in HSR though and how old units compare there in the context of easy but high volume permanent content.

4*s don't exist anymore in HSR. The equivalent of bennett is the main character. The equivalent of Fischl/Sucrose is free limited 5*s handed out regularly.
The powercreep is about 30% faster than Genshin, but characters are released 30% faster as well.
There's no reason to give a fuck about HSR endgame anyway, gameplay is the least exciting part of the game.

This is kind of a complicated question.
There's a built in 4 character team that bends all content in half. Think of it like Zibai Hyper with Linnea Columbina and if they added a sub DPS that's like, Flins tier.
There's a rather expensive team that almost works now that they buffed 2 of the 4 (potentially a fourth member may materialize)
There's one character who was kinda a support and kind of not who has hugely benefited from some supports
Those are kinda the top of the meta, deal like double the damage of everyone else
And have been released in the past year
There's also a free character that works fine with a free recently buffed support, a """free"""" support and you can go sustain or use the broken as fuck latest MC sustainless
There's ONE (1) standard worth a damn in hyper specific scenarios
