They would need to make a really good, visually striking metroidvania, similar to Silksong or an excellent RPG. They'd also have to drop a lot of what makes them appealing to us. The normie market sees the INTI style and thinks "anime shovelware" and passes. Unfair, I know, as the GV character designs are very good. Only distinct anime games, like Persona 5, can break past the niche otaku market. Then it's just making sure the game leaks to the right reviewers and streamers.

Pretty much the collections rising quality curve
Classic 1 was from third party (Digital Eclipse), just basic emulator with some challenges and rewind
Classic 2 also used emulators but started going by in house(?)
X had bad input issues with the emulators but had a decent version of X7 while patching X8 too, extra mode X Challenge was a "new" concept but execution was like X5 (lol lmao)
Z/ZX used ports from inti code fixing the input issues from the previous collections, and added high quality voices, ZChaser was probably the mandatory addition, more so of an online testing ground
BN used hybrid mix between the rom and higher quality asset overlay for images(chips, shit font, etc ) and added some extra content(e reader) while fixing some issues with international releases (using base BN6JP), added online multiplayer, also hub pet (get it?)
SF seems to better up, more menu characters, unannounced actual arranged songs and "multiversion online"(not announced but still a theory based on screenshots), weird model upscaling and some other removed content (although no noise kaizo gear yet, sad!)
It's normal legendsfags will now ask for native port, dual controls, unlimited framerate 16:9 or 4:3 multilanguage with reworked models and option to change to classic models including legends 3 demo and teaser

Not finished. Scope creep was not an issue. Lack of programming experience was and got nothing but cliques closing ranks when I asked how to make even simple things work in Unreal.
Unreal Engine documentation now is leaps and bounds better than back then though and the project was fairly small with a few demo levels, around 3GB, down from 20+GB, after I deleted all the engine plugins I wasn't using. Tried a few different artstyles including the lowpoly legends one. Had settled on this one because it was a nice balance of not being too edgy and being lighthearted like the other series are. Just needed to add some light cell shading via material settings in engine.
The will didn't drain quickly, it was just painful to be permabanned just for existing. Years of that arbitrary bullshit really takes a toll and makes it painful to even open up blender. Because there was no positive feedback loop from it.
