Apparently, according to the official JP blog, missing body parts is just a thing that happens to revenants with powerful abilities. Fun how this isn't mentioned anywhere in-game, or even anywhere in English.
https://code-vein.com/contents/?p=34
>>
>>559260062
That's some interesting lore. But Lyle and Craig don't really seem to be missing anything. Iris is a weakling. Does Lavinia have any gold parts though?
>>
>>559260501
Craig is physically really tough but doesn't seem to have anything in the way of innate hax. Lyle is a converted revenant, but I would have expected him to have some golden repairs like Noah does, especially due to his fighting style. Seems inconsistent, especially since Lavinia doesn't have any missing parts, unless you take the gold growths that she and Holly have to represent the same thing.
>>
>>559260501
She has extra bits
>>
Where are the patch notes?
>>
>>559261718
I suppose they were concerned with making sure Lyle looks handsome for the ladies.
>>559264056
Right, what's missing from her is less noticable and the extensions look more on the decorative side. Holly has gold growths around her neck and sides which stand out more. Lore wise Holly's hat and Lavinia's backplate are probably considered detrimental in the same way missing an eye is. I like how one anon asked how Holly sleeps with the hat and then there's cutscenes of both Monica and Holly in bed and their Hat just clips fully into the bed and nobody comments on it.

When does the patch come out that lets us take Josee's shoes off?
>>
>>559271539
>making the game easier
idk I wouldn't say that
my main gripe with the game desu is enemies, even the basic bitch ones, have way too much poise, and the player gets immediately staggered from any attack
as a result, some of the longer animation attacks, skills, etc. are kinda trash and the ones that either have some evasion mixed into it or are fast tend to be the best
>>
>>559269436
>Improved player walking and running animations
I can't tell how walking changed, but glad that they got rid of the heavy-looking run startup.
>>
The performance patch is real. Quicker then I expected, not quite ready to do another playthrough yet.
>>
So should I uninstall the performance mod now that the patch dropped in case it fucks something up? Or would keeping it help at all.
>>
>>559272736
Should probably test the game without it and then with it to see if there's a noticable difference. It shouldn't break anything as is.
>>
>>559272736
Its unlikely to fuck anything up. Personally testing out the patch with it still installed and everything seems to be fine. The patch definitely helps though everything feels alot smoother.

Did Code Vein 2 just flop horribly?

I'm looking for rule34 of CV2 for goonuse, but can't find anything despite one character being obviously designed specifically for that purpose.

HammerBros... they're calling us giga casuals that can't handle the game without huge buffs across the board! The early game is rough because the Ancient Hunter Hammer has a really shitty moveset but this is embarrassing. Glad I beat the game with Hammers first.
>>
>>559294629
This. I'd love to create more r34 for CV2 if some properly accessible rigs ever dropped in Blender.
>>
>>559294274
I haven't watched any of the reviews but I only see people posting about how it's a "massive disappointment" or some shit. Genuinely feels like these people either didn't play the game or have rose-tinted glasses of the original because the sequel is in most ways an upgrade.
>>
>>559251016
>>
>>559299901
I'm still debating with myself as to whether or not it's better than CV. Which is a good sign, it's far from being a bad game. But I could see it being "disappointing" if you were expecting a massive upgrade. My expectations were quite low; I really didn't enjoy Elden Ring so CV going down that route killed my hype for most of the time we were waiting post announcement. It is an upgrade but it's also very different to the point it's hard to compare.
>>
>>559304006
I was more worried about character creator
Scarlet Nexus or whatever would have been better received by the general if it had one
>>
>>559305205
>Scarlet Nexus or whatever would have been better received by the general if it had one
Undoubtedly, that said I still feel fondly about Scarlet Nexus, more because it hits a lot of aesthetic beats that I personally really enjoy, than because of any gameplay.

>>559304006
I think the writing and worldbuilding is better for sure. They do a better job of making the Frontier feel like part of a world with a history beyond what's covered by the plot. I hope the DLC explores it more. The game's story also feels like it has actual themes and ideas it wants to explore. CV1 has a story I enjoy but I didn't get the sense it was operating on anything more than rule of cool.
>>
>>559305205
If Scarlet Nexus had a character creator and thus deleted Yuito and Kasane, and rewrote the story to be (you) and your friends save the world with the power of friendship. Then yeah, more people probably would've enjoyed it. But the game also had a tie-in anime show to think about so I suspect that's why we got bland and blander as protagonists with some sick incest twist plot.
Personally never bought it because I hated the gameplay but perhaps I would've been more committed to forcing myself to learn the game if it had a character creator. If I were to compare it to anything it's Astral Chain which did let you customize your character.

I’ll take a Tropical Herman and a bottle mango soda. DO NOT let the vendor try to sell you on the two dollar upcharge to the combo meal. Their fries are always soggy and I swear they never change the grease.
>>
>>559298796
I'll admit, I find it kinda weird that of all classes the hammers got buffed. It felt like hammers were a bit more OP than the other weapon classes by quite a bit. Like, I never dabbled in hammers much in CV1, but they clean house so much in 2 II couldn't help but gravitate to them.
I do like that the halberds got a small boost, though. I really like that weapon class, and they felt pretty overshadowed in comparison.
>>
>>559251016
I took a break after my first run. Hoping I can make time to get back into another playthrough before the eventual DLC. I never really committed to a proper build and I wanna do one.
>>
>>559311924
I think it's gonna be an over correction.
Hammer user feedback was probably, "every time I try to attack I get interrupted"
And then everyone's else's feedback about the normal dodge being slow + bosses attack too often so even if you dodge the first swing the second one comes out instantly and hits you anyway.
So they "fixed" both but all the general changes to dodge speed, recovery and boss behavior would've solved the hammer problem too. You're not gonna get interrupted nearly as often if the dodges are cleaned up so you recover faster and start your attack animation faster. Hammers are gonna be baby mode now.

>>559326432
No sorry, maybe next time. Instead I removed my ~mods folder, the engine.ini and the Moonling plugin, and then the game started working. Wonder which was causing the inability to boot up the game.
Decided to test out my beloved Heavy Axe on the Lunar Rapacis, including Hero Valentin. The game is a lot smoother. The normal roll is ridiculously quick now; I'm leaning towards saying it's outright better than the quick dash. Heavy Axe swings a lot faster for the normals; getting all 3 attacks out is way more common. Camera was less of a detriment against the Moon Envoys. Dive Bomb and Vanquisher didn't feel much different so probably only a fraction of a second faster.
>>
Would you forgive her?
>>
It was the Moonling framework mod. There's an update that fixes it. Probably should've checked that earlier.

I liked CV2 but i'd be happy if it was the DS2 black sheep of a series and a third, more successful one followed the first game's universe and format. As long as they managed to somehow cram josee, holly, lou, and even lyle and Zenon into the first game's universe, at least. I think the second game's cast is a lot stronger than the first. Imagine picking up where CV1 left off and running into the alternate universe versions of the CV2 partners.

The series is probably dead with 2, it's a miracle 2 even happened at all, even for as cheaply slapped together as it is, but it's nice to pretend.
>>
How're we feeling about the bangs /cvg/? Number of options is a bit low and then full customization of individual parts like hairstyles rather than adjusting the size of the whole object would be better but definitely an improvement than cobbling together various smaller accessories. The bangs seem to go a little less crazy in the wind as well.
Also found a couple of amusing glitches with the patch already. If you have Jadwiga as your partner, she'll switch from English dub to Japanese briefly if you need her to revive you. And using the archive to watch a cutscene where it's raining, returning to the Confluence the rain will stick around so it was actually raining in the Confluence. You really can't escape the rain. Poor Lou.

The game is already so easy that i thought buffing mid rolls was unnecessary but now that i tried it i think it's a lot better. Mid rolling was so chunky compared to light dodging that it felt more like light, heavy, unusable. It does sort of take away the incentive to use the dodge defensives though.

Who do you guys think is the hardest boss?
>>
>>559375302
My darling Heavy Axe of course
As for the other weapon types they're still far from being settled CV2-wise but I would currently list:
Hanemukuro
Pelagic Spear (but that'll surely get replaced by Impaler, and also Bardiche)
Ancient Hunter's Bayonet (hopefully Nameless is good but I keep going back to this one)
Cursed Backblade Killer (will probably swap to Nameless Greatsword)
>>
Night, /cvg/ bros...
>>
>>559399283
Well first this is all based on pre-patch, I don't know what bosses they nerfed. I'll go out on a limb and assume the FINAL boss is the hardest if you don't use your friendship is OP boosters. But I haven't bothered to try it yet.
1. Hero Zenon, to me he's the hardest boss.
2. Resurgence Josee
3. Camilo
And then specifically for early game if you refuse to leave MagMell when you could
4. Frantz
5. Alexis
The problem with CV2 is that when the open world becomes freely roamable you can grind as much as you want just clearing all the content, pick up all the weapons and formae, pick up all the healing boosts, activate the map buffs, etc, you'll trivialize the difficulty pretty quickly if you engage with all the ways to power up your character expecting the game to get harder. Unless you're nerfing yourself in some way there's probably no boss in the game that'll take you 20 tries but the amount of hours I sunk into CV is probably a big contributor to that but also the biggest change which is guaranteed revives. In CV your partner could be dead, or they might hit the Rondo button just as you die or they might get stunlocked by the boss and fail to save you in time. There's none of that in CV2 which is just always gonna decrease the number of the times/ways the game can bullshit you.
Dishonourable mention to Bell Bitches, harder than most bosses frankly and way more annoying.

I am really interested in playing this game, but to be completely honest, it is really expensive in my country, and to me personally.
So instead of just buying it without thinking, I would like to hear your honest thoughts on Code Vein 2.

>>
>>559420671
I'll just out and say it but I feel like Denuvo and the lack of means to pirate it has been the central point for a lot of the negativity directed at CV2. Tha game has its issues but being forced to buy it is what exacerbates it all. To answer your question, it's a solid game all around. Hopefully you'll get a chance to play it some day
>>
>>559420671
If you enjoyed CV1 you'll probably enjoy CV2. They're quite different but they have the same soul poured in.

So how was the patch? My biggest complaints about the gameplay was that poise for big weapons was goofy, taking two hits to stagger a minor enemy with a hammer and shit like that. Is that fixed? Also seems they nerfed the purple beam bitches?

From what I tested, with hammers you might actually poise through hits and get your attack off. Enemy stagger didn't seem much different but Heavy Axe already tended to cause stagger on the first hit. Hammer normals are noticeably faster. Normal roll is noticeably faster and has less end lag. Purple beam bitch doesn't seem much different but dunno.
