Why would you play the GC version? You do know 95% of the games that gen were developed with the PS2 in mind, right? Despite the GC being more powerful in some ways the difference in architecture and being a second class system resulted in lackluster ports most of the time. If it wasn't an exclusive or developed for GC first, it wasn't worth playing on it with scant exceptions. Why does everyone on emugen do it wrong? Why are zoomers so obsessed with engagement? I engaged. Are you happy?

desu, Xbox usually took the crown for visuals back then. PS2 had the exclusives (and a few titles like True Crime: NYC that actually looked the best), but the hierarchy was generally Xbox > PS2 > GC (on visuals)
You're right about that 5% margin though; the GameCube outperformed the PS2 on certain titles.
Regardless, the SNES-to-PS2 run was the objective peak of the industry.
>>
>>562704518
>Xbox > PS2 > GC (on visuals)
Ps2 loked like dogshit visual wise compared to the cube. Resident evil 4 shows it perfectly. Ps2 was the weakest console of the 6th gen.
>Regardless, the SNES-to-PS2 run was the objective peak of the industry.
4th and previous gens were too limited for most genres.
5th and 8th were simply the best in terms of genre diversity.
6th and 7th gen were typical aaa bullshit with indies being nonexistent.

I remember loving this game as a kid but jesus christ is it harder than I remember, you spend almost every level getting knocked around like a pinball/getting stunlocked. Is the ps2 version harder or something? I only ever played the gc version as a kid but decided to check out the ps2 version as it has more content. I must have had a lot more patience back then because I know for a fact that there's no way in hell that I didn't struggle on some of these levels.

>genre diversity
I kinda see your point but I don't fully agree.
The 8th gen only "feels" diverse because the indie explosion (XBLA/PSN etc.) happened during the 7th gen (braid, limbo, 'Splosion Man etc). It wasn't the whole industry suddenly getting creative you know.
>6th and 7th gen were typical aaa bullshit with indies being nonexistent.
I agree about the late 7th gen, but early-to-mid 7th (roughly 2005-2011) was pretty solid AA/AAA stuff. The real nosedive became obvious in late 7th and especially 8th gen (obama era, soros shit etc), when the political injection, censorship, and agenda shit started ruining everything in gaming industry (same as the rest of entertainment).
>4th and previous gens were too limited for most genres
True, but that limitation is exactly what forced devs to actually be creative. It's the classic "engineer's dilemma", constraints breed ingenuity. You see the same thing in every other industry.
>5th was simply the best
Yeah, it was one of the last eras before the cultural stagnation really kicked in. Peak vibes.
Anyway, objective truth is that SNES/Genesis to PS2/GameCube era was the golden age of the entire industry.
I hope the West gets a proper cultural revival at some point, but honestly it doesn't look likely.
Cheers mate.

Is teknoparrot malware? It makes you install it and sign a bunch of weird eulas and waivers about how it's going to steal your data, it's alleged made by a company in Eastern Europe that doesn't seem to exist, and after all that it doesn't even work. I just wanted to play House of the Dead 4 and it instantly closes itself.

Typically PS2 unless it was developed for GC first, which is the case for Killer7, Viewtiful Joe, or RE4. Same goes for Xbox as lead to PS2, the Xbox version will be a lot better. Lead platforms matter for that gen because the archs were so wildly different. USUALLY PS2 vs Xbox means you should pick the Xbox version (if emulated properly) for west-slop, but Jap games dev'd on PS2 first have some effects missing or fucked up on Xbox. MGS2 and Silent Hill 2 come to mind.

Used to be you'd fire up some random old game, and it just hit different. The music, the pixel work, the little janky quirks, it all felt alive, like it was made by actual humans who poured their heart into it. Now? Everything feels sterile, corporate, focus-grouped and sanitized by a committee of HR folk who’ve never touched a real controller in their life. And the worst fucked up thing is, I'm not even a boomer. I'm just a younger guy. I shouldn't be sitting here feeling like some nostalgic oldfag mourning the death of something I barely got to enjoy in its prime. Yet here I am. It's honestly depressing as fuck.

You're gonna have to mod the fuck out of them just to get basic functionality happening, like graphics options and controller support etc....
Just emulate.

Gamecube. Better graphics, better frame rates, better load times.

I'm 45. I've seen video games go from something unique and interesting with shitloads of potential, to just another form of mainstream entertainment.
The word that describes it perfectly is Homogenisation.
All forms of media are getting squished together, to the point where there's barely any difference now between video games and TV shows - they're all chasing the same audience (middle aged women coz they spend the most money), they all focus on the same components (story) etc....
It's so sad seeing what happened to games, and it's why many people, myself included, almost exclusively just emulate older stuff. Coz there's more good games from generations 3 to 6 then i have years left in my life to actually play them.

yeah, I’d recommend sticking to console emulation for all GTA games prior to GTA V
Grand Theft Auto 2 and Grand Theft Auto London 1969 + 1961 : PC emu
GTA III, VC and SA : PS2 emu
GTA IV : X360 emu, or PS3 emu if you have AVX512 cpu

I bought it for the fuck of it, and the MisterPi isn't that costly. I resulate on my PC 99% of the time. It was fun for a minute, though. It's still the best Saturn emu, and runs edge cases SSF, Beetle, and Ymir won't. I wouldn't recommend it unless you have a CRT and emu testing is something you do for fun, but we all buy stupid shit for fun now and then. Don't you? Ah, it must be a disposable income thing.

Yeah, those mid-2000s regional MMOs. they were janky and grindy as hell, but the way they dominated specific parts of the world is a total anomaly. It’s interesting how a 'mediocre' game can become a cultural cornerstone just by being accessible enough.

>>
>>562778892
>i guess im going to have to decide on each individual game
yeah basically. even in cases where it was specifically optimized for one system still have issues.
Sonic Heroes for GC is a great example; 60fps with no slowdown, but fmvs, audio, and textures were compressed due to less disc space.
Simpsons Hit & Run is blurrier on PS2, and GC can play it in 480p, but it looks like it has no anti-aliasing.
GTA on Xbox should be the best, but so many effects and design choices were made with the PS2 in mind that the lighting and fog are ruined on Xbox. It's a gigantic departure from the PS2's look and feel.
Spider-Man 2 sometimes looks better on PS2, sometimes on GC, again due to the compressed textures (and audio). Xbox should be the winner, but it altered the lighting/shadows so much it looks very different.
Silent Hill 4 Xbox has lighting and fog differences over the PS2, and it was used as a basis for the PC port.
and that doesn't even begin to cover xbox emulation likely being shit vs GC/PS2 for whatever game you're looking at.

Could a patch like this be used with some emulator? In particular I'm interested in playing Phantasy Star Zero with this. I do have a 3ds but since the patch supports camera control with the Cstick I thought it would be nicer to play it with a full controller.

It doesn't actually affect me, but this is pretty gay. Like running an xp machine with old hardware for emudriver support is still a valid use case. Do they not realize they are creating a Pac-Man emulator?
>>
>>562804090
Damn I recently discovered Phantasy Star Zero and was playing around with it too, and was wondering the same thing. I think there isn't a way to use these on emulator.
I think you would have to have like a 3DS emulator that runs MelonDS similar to Dolphin and mGBA. Or MelonDS would have to add 3DS control emulation specifically for these hacks.

I found a fork of melon that someone made with analog support here https://github.com/melonDS-emu/melonDS/issues/2308 (by nadiaholmquist) but I can't get the cheat to work. https://github.com/NPO-197/melonDS- lua/blob/master/tools/LuaScripts/Ma rio64_JoyStick.lua this clued me to try removing a chunk of the AR code
>I had to remove the arm 7 payload part of the shocoman's code since we are not running this on a 3ds (everything up to the first `D2000000 00000000` in the original code was removed)
but with that the game freezes soon after I load my character. With the full code it got stuck in a white screen.
Desmume fork seems to act similarly. I guess my last option would be to compile the melon lua fork.
>These are not lua scripts. They are Action Replay codes that let the NDS games interact with 3DS hardware.
The melon lua fork seems to have some sort of support for them or at least the dev has tested mario 64 on it.

I've been trying out tons of DOS games on the FORK OF A JUNK, and I ran into a most curious problem with a couple of them. Dune (the non-RTS one) runs, but using the Sound Blaster music+sound setup, sometimes there's no sound at all, and sometimes there is but it's very garbled and sounds very much off. The strangest part is that upon running it, it ruins the sound of EVERYTHING, both within 86Box AND in my host machine, until I end the emulation altogether. That is to say, I'll close Dune, load up another game that I know works perfectly well like Keen 4, and there'll be no sound. Then I'll go back to my host, open a Jewtube video, and the sound will be super garbled, and it will be so until I turn off the VM. Dark Seed also gave me the same issue. Guess I'm not including either one in my pack.
>>
>>562808249
Replying to myself. Got the lua fork built but it acts similarly to the other two forks. White screen with the full AR code or a near instant freeze once you load your character with the cut down code. I'm thinking the fix to remove up to the first d2000000 doesn't work with the PSZ AR code. It probably needs to be cut off somewhere else or edited further to work on emulator and that's something I don't even have a clue where to begin.I tried asking AI for help but I don't think it understands the AR codes properly.

This game is good if you're playing it in anything other than PCSX2. It's designed to be precise down to the pixel so you can move between individual bullets. emulating ps2 GTA games instead of playing the original PC ports is asinine
what is the implication here, that normies can't unzip a dll to a folder? If that's the case, then using and setting up any stand alone emulator should be an impossible task

>emulating ps2 GTA games instead of playing the original PC ports is asinine
Why? What’s wrong with using PCSX2 for GTA "The 3D Universe"? I’m pretty sure they fixed all the major issues years ago?
>what is the implication here, that normies can't unzip a dll to a folder? If that's the case, then using and setting up any stand alone emulator should be an impossible task
I see your point, but for a normie, emulation is still easier than applying multiple patches and configurations. Especially when you consider they're getting their games from "god knows where". Is it a retail copy? A censored digital version? It’s a total mess for them to figure out what they actually need at this point.

>>562926581
It's a great port especially for the time, but it's asking too much from an emulator to get everything perfect when it doesn't even have the correct FPU math.

>ok you're trying to bait me now
No bait, just giving my take brother. It’s fine to agree to disagree. I know Western discourse is cooked, but my intentions are pure, so don't worry about it.
>hunting for BIOS, configuring a gazillion emu settings, renders etc is much easier for normans than installing PC retail versions and unzipping a bunch of .dll and .ini in the installation folder
PCSX2 has GameIndex.yaml, so settings are mostly auto-configured. They’re even merging a PR soon to automate the blending options based on the game. As for the BIOS: yeah, you have a point, but there are tons of BIOS packs out there (including on the wiki) that are just "click and extract". Like I said, I get your point, but it's really not that deep compared to the headache of patching and configuring the PC versions, especially since you have to analyze exactly what you need based on whichever version you're stuck with.

(cont.)
This is assuming you’re staying at native resolution without widescreen patches though. If you’re planning to go that route, you might as well stick to the PC version; I’m with you on that. But things like texture packs, internal framerate hacks, and frame gen seem to be pretty much non-problematic on the emulator side these days.

you have it backwards fren, setting up retail versions of PC GTA is far easier than dealing with the hassle of
>a million emulation configurations
>widescreen hacks with stretched HUD
>6gb texture packs based on PAL/NTSC, that also need to be manually enabled on a hidden configuration submnu
as opposed to simply drag n dropping all the patches and the mods you'll ever need for the truly superior experience
if you're on linux and lutris the entire process is completely automated
https://lutris.net/games/grand-theft-auto-san-andreas/
even if you don't have the proper GTA retail version, you can always downgrade it
there's no way in hell you're going to convince me that patching the already existing OG retail versions is more troublesome than emulating the fucking ps2 crap

GTA is kind of a pain in the ass any way you slice it. All entries past 3 need mods on mods on PC for a decent modern experience, or you can have it "just work" on emulators, but with various limitations of the console versions, like limited peds/distance/cars/memory. The last time I played VC I used someone's mod repack just because I didn't feel like fucking with it. Worked well enough for me, all the effects and controls and framerate were as I wanted. There's such a thing as mod fatigue; by the time you've installed 8+ mods you already feel like you've played a game of sorts and don't even care by the time you're finished.

I’m not actually trying to convince you brother. You might even be right. I’m not a fan of that 'everything is subjective' nonsense either, so I believe one of us has to be right and the other wrong. I don't know what it was with so many 6th gen games shitting the bed in the last act. I guess running out of time/money meant it was time to pad the game out with PURE SHIT and wall the ending behind it.

GTA is a shit series and a rare case where the clones and the -like are actually better than the original. Its only merit is to have been the first and launched a trend.
They are boring games, outside of driving the gameplay is shit. The open-world is just "find these secrets, run over people listenning to the radio, get killed by the cops and do shity mini-games", then when you get bored you get the "story" who's just a railoaded interactive series that can decide if it go full edgy cartoon or try to be "serious business".
It was just at the right time to sell millions to all the burger mutt kiddos who wanted to be "mature" and surfing on the "Video Games will make you serial killer" craze.
They get mogged by Ubisoft that became the new OW-slop reference.
I've never managed to go beyond a few missions in GTA V, is was just an interactive serie that it watch better that it's play and an open world supposedly filled with details and shit, but you never get any incentive to ever explore or experiment on. (Yeah, I don't care how much 'realistic' and 'well made' pnj's animation are done since there's not interest to get out a your car to do anything but shoot at something.)

but then i have to wonder if all those bundled mods actually only improve things while leaving it vanilla, or start adding a bunch of game changing crap. the emulator is literally as simple as opening up the rom. there's virtually nothing you need to change anymore.
i've never played them before, and know very little about them, but i'll probably do ps2 first since that was the major platform, with pc likely being an after thought. i'll check out vanilla mods and stuff for the pc after i've at least seen the intended experience first.

You and I both know you are leaving some fidelity and functionality on the table by emulating. You could maybe gussy it up to 4K but the draw distance and ped count/variety will be limited by the guest's memory and what the game locks it to. You might be able to hack this out somewhat, but I don't know. It is easier, though, yes.

I knew the moment that first teaser dropped it was going to be a letdown. I got called a contrarian for months, then the game actually launched and it was exactly as shallow as I feared. No GTA Online for weeks, and the "upgraded" engine somehow felt worse. GTA IV had better physics, better AI, and more soul. V was just a pretty, empty set piece by comparison. The fact that it sold so well means we’re officially cooked. And look at what they’ve done to GTA Online updates over the last few years.

>The confirmed vulnerable cards are NVIDIA GPUs using GDDR6 memory, primarily from the Ampere generation. The RTX 3060 and the RTX A6000 are the two models with fully demonstrated exploit chains. GDDRHammer alone tested 25 GDDR6 GPUs and found bit flips in the majority. GDDR6X cards like the RTX 3080 showed no bit flips in testing. GDDR7 cards, including the RTX 5090, use always-on on-die ECC that is not configurable by the user, and those were not found vulnerable to current techniques.
>For consumer desktop and laptop GPUs running GDDR6, the researchers stated it plainly: there are no known mitigations. ECC is not available on gaming GPUs. The only path to protection is a driver patch addressing the underlying memory-safety bugs that GPUBreach exploits, and that patch does not exist yet.
>DRAM memory is built from rows of tiny cells packed extremely close together. When you hammer the same row with repeated memory accesses over and over again, the heat and electrical noise starts leaking into the rows next door and flips bits that nobody was supposed to be able to touch. A 1 becomes a 0. A 0 becomes a 1. In memory that does not belong to you. This has been a known problem in CPU memory for over a decade
>The attack uses a timing trick on how the GPU manages its memory to detect exactly when a new page table region appears. It is like listening for the sound of a safe opening so you know exactly when to strike. By carefully freeing and refilling memory in the right order, the attacker pushes a GPU page table into position right next to a row that is known to flip. Like parking a car in exactly the right spot. One targeted Rowhammer bit flip later, an unprivileged CUDA kernel has arbitrary read and write access across the entire GPU memory space.
This attack is call gpubreach. I wonder if this could lead to legally viable Switch2 emulation due to the reverse engineering status of the research and attacks.

So, I emulate stuff, have for a long time, and don't really think about it. I just had this interaction.
I don't really hang out in emulation circles, but what's the reason for this? Anyone have a sense of why there's this strong urge for ports rather than just emulating the OG?
>>
>>563013661
>Anyone have a sense of why there's this strong urge for ports rather than just emulating the OG?
I think it's a case of people confusing remakes (made from the ground-up) for remasters (original code made to run on newer hardware). There's a similar urgency within the emulation community itself, but for recomps instead of the usually hit-or-miss "remasters" that come out these days.
>>
>>563014259
Interesting. What's the urgency for the decomps? I've seen those for some games, but don't really pay much attention to them. What's considered to be the huge advantage vs. emulation?
It seems like decomps main advantage is the ability to mod it.

You just answered your own question right there, there's also the added benefit of FPS interpolation if you're skilled enough.
>>
>>
>>563014542
And so, that seems like a different question to me. If we're talking about playing the game, then just play the game. Having someone charge me for an emulator seems whatever.
If it's being able to mod it, well that's sort of different at that point. I don't mind it, but that's also separate from Sega making a remaster/remake, right? I can't mod their HD remaster.

Here's Claude Pro's response:
1. Fix vm.max_map_count (Linux-specific, important)
sudo sysctl -w vm.max_map_count=2147483642
To make it permanent, add vm.max_map_count=2147483642 to /etc/sysctl.d/99-rpcs3.conf.
This resolves the sudo memory lock failures which can cascade into game boot issues.
2. Clear broken game data
Navigate to your RPCS3 data folder and delete any partial game data:
bashrm -rf ~/.config/rpcs3/dev_hdd0/game/BLJM60154/
Then relaunch — let RPCS3 recreate it fresh.
2. Clear broken game data
Navigate to your RPCS3 data folder and delete any partial game data:
bashrm -rf ~/.config/rpcs3/dev_hdd0/game/BLJM60154/
Then relaunch — let RPCS3 recreate it fresh.
3. Verify your game install method
If you installed via a .pkg, go to File Install Packages/Raps/Edats and reinstall it.
If you extracted the disc manually, make sure the folder structure is <RPCS3 dir>/games/BLJM60154/PS3_GAME/ with PARAM.SFO present inside PS3_GAME/PARAM.SFO.
4. Check for a PS3UPDAT.PUP update
Right-click the game in RPCS3's game list Check for Updates to see if a game update package is available, as some games need their update installed to boot correctly.
The vm.max_map_count fix + clearing the game data directory are your most likely fixes. Try those first.

>necessary
What would you define as such? If you simply want to play the game, a sharp bilinear shader is good enough and uses next-to-no resources. If you're aiming for a CRT look, that will use a few more resources, but still not by much.
>>
>>563020990
>are they necessary
No.
>use any significant amount of resources?
They can.
That being said. Many old games did take advantage of the not only the ways rf and composite would blend pixels but also how the crt's themselves would do that. The genesis in particular had awful composite circuits that would really blur its output image and so the devs were forced to deal with that. If you play a genesis game and you have it super sharp, then that's not exactly how the devs thought you would end up seeing it.
That also being said. Shaders can be a quagmire of autism and bullshit. So I recommend just going to the emu wiki and looking at the shaders it recommends and sticking with those.

Xemu constantly gets shilled and it hasn't improved one bit for years, performance has regressed.
Xenia on the other hand has only gotten the manager which just applied already available patches. Nothing in the emulator has been made better, the audio part is especially garbage. Xenia edge experimental vulkan renderer is just barely functional.
At least rpcs3 gives you some better performance with regressions, this gives you nothing.

Nah, Xemu has actually put in work lately. We got Insignia support, proper MS dashboard integration, and better hardware features and peripheral handling. Compatibility is way ahead of where Xenia is for the 360, but you're right that it’s not "Gold Tier" yet. It’s no Dolphin or PCSX2 (and yeah, even those aren't as "perfect" as stuff like Ares for SNES or BigPEmu).

You’re mostly right about Xenia, but Xenia Edge at least added some QoL features. The real issue is the core stuff, it’s still a mess of crashes, broken timing, and missing system functions like the Guide dash menu, Avatars, or Kinect. We’ve seen some breadcrumbs in the last 3 years (.ZAR support, XAM/profile manager, x360 achievements and notifications support and WebServices/Online +System Link support), but the actual game compatibility is still poor. It’s definitely sad to see how slow 360 emulation is moving compared to everything else.

Not specifically an emulation question but I don't know where to ask. Does anyone have experience with unpacking .CPK files found in Japanese PSP games?
I've unpacked it using CriFsV2 lib and located the .amo and .amt files. I think these are supposed to contain the character models and textures, they have the biggest filesize at least. No program is able to unpack it with the filenames (and I tried every single one, they all output 14k files named <NULL>) so I had to use the library in a program and infer from file headers.
As for unpacking the .amo files, I found a Noesis script for my game but it doesn't even work (pic related). I tried loading the Noesis export .obj too but it says there's no meshes. Someone else has commented that the script doesn't work so I guess it's not just me.
Been digging around decade old forums that talk about custom scripts for QuickBMS but the links are dead and I can't find anything.

None of those are important currently. This is the stuff you do when you achieved over 80% compatibility, not below.
Wake me up when they can fix kotor save problem. Or when most games can handle cutscenes without major problems. They really need to solve the cutscene problem since so many games have unskippable cutscenes.

Does anybody remember when the original author of xenia was showing amazing progress? Damn that felt amazing to watch, was even hoping it might overtake rpcs3.
Then,i think the original dev left or something and we entered stagnation.

You’re thinking of Benvanik and Rick I believe. They basically checked out years ago, pretty sure they haven't been active since 2020 or so.
TriΔng3l was carrying the entire graphics side of the project through 2021 and 2022, but ever since the goy war (UK-RUS) started, he’s been "MIA" and the project basically stalled.
At this point (2023+), it’s just a handful of community enthusiasts keeping it on life support. They’re the ones poking at the side stuff like XAM, notifications, and the dashboard, but without the heavy hitters, the core emulator is barely moving.

One downside of kb+m is lack of analog movement. Mouse aim's great, but keyboard gives you walking speed or sprinting speed with the shift key. An analog stick will give you more granularity of movementFor me, it's dualstick + gyro aiming for slight adjustments if possible

>>
>>563095776
Yup, rpcs3 sucks balls.
>v1.13 - black screen
This has been a 3+ year long problem, basically for some reason rpcs3 can break games when using specific versions. Something to do with background errors when compiling shaders before running the game.
It started with specific versions of some ea sport games, moved on to disgaea and now is present in gran turismo.
>v2.11 - works but some issues and crashing
>v.2.17 - seems like it's the smoothest but crashes
Crashing is simply getting worse and worse.
If you actually look in the console/debugger while most games are running you are gonna find error after error. They just do random shit with code if an error causes crashing in hope that it will fix it. And even if it does, it creates regressions because they aren't actually eliminating errors, just hoping the new errors don't cause too much issues or old errors don't trigger crashing. I have never seen such weird emulation development.

I'm thinking about taking the lossless scaling pill, for emulation it should always be a good time because it doesn't mess with the game's internal clock so you can lock everything at 60 and then frame gen to 120 and stuff won't break, now
2x frame gen I think it's a bit too much, I worry about the latency penalty, because emulation is 90% cpu and 10% gpu and frame gen runs on the gpu it shouldn't be too much of a tax on the system tho, I know that the latency drawbacks are much bigger with native games that will be gpumaxxing already and strangling your gpu
but yeah, lossless scaling, 2x frame gen, if the latency penalty isn't too much, might be a great addition to emulation

I do have a 9070 xt and never used AFMF, but I guess it would be as good. I don't think running stuff at 60 and framegening to 180 would be good tho, the latency input has to be big with all those fake frames, 60 to 120 could be optimal tho

>>563130701
Are you trying to emulate a system within MAME itself? If so, you'll need to acquire what's known as a "Software List". No-Intro and Redump ROMs must conform to MAME's XML system, which can be grabbed from here.
https://github.com/mamedev/mame/tree/master/hash
Select one of these XMLs for your system and place it onto "[RA Directory]\system\MAME\hash". No-Intro ROMs may also contain extensions which are different from what the XML expects, so change them accordingly.

They got a good emulated collection by M2.
But is still the same graphic presentation as if you just emulate it raw.
For me all the DS games look horrendous blow out full screen on my 48 inch oled lg c1 that i use as a monitor, but at the end of the day it's a matter of preference.
Now the real reason to emulate is the hacks, i'm not playing regular Dawn of Sorrow but the "Definitive Edition+" hack, that's vast superior to the vanilla experience, and there's a lot more for all 3 DS Vania games.

You remap everything so the D-pad is move forward-backward/strafe left-right, the face buttons are mapped to aiming like a mock-up right stick, and everything jumping, shooting, and boosting related is mapped on the triggers.
It takes a few times to accommodate, but it works way better than the default controls.

Not really, no. You'll run into situations where you'll need to set CPU cycles on the fly. Plus situations where shit like menus run at benny hill speeds, but the actual game itself runs at a somewhat normal speed.
Wing Commander 1 for example is such a headache to get running at it's intended speed, that the maintainer for eXoDOS gave up and included a build of 86Box with the game and a notice telling people to just run the game with that instead.

Use retroarch.
Shader implementation outside of RA is a nightmare because you have to set them up on a case by case basis and they have to be absolutely precise or your scanlines will be uneven and look like shit.

I had one. It died pretty quick. First the shoulder button fucked up, then the dpad fucked up.

I don't really know how that solves the problem. Even on the 'intended' CPU there can be things like RAM settings, video card interface affecting the game's speed, and the game's speed still fluctuates depending on what's on screen. The game's kind of made like shit and overrated, honestly.

>>
>>
>>
>>563377461
To be exact, Belial means something like "wicked" or "worthless." It occurred in quite a few places in the Old Testament, but came to be used as a name in intertestamental Jewish literature, though Paul does mention once in 2 Corinthians as opposite to Christ. In these texts, it is the name of the leader of all demons, so basically Satan, though IIRC Belial and Satan are only specifically identified as being one and the same being in the Ascension of Isaiah (Paul likely also understood them as such). Some texts understand him to be evil yet within God's command (i.e. his role is precisely to inflict evil), whereas others understand him to be in direct opposition to God. Pretty interesting stuff if you, for whatever reason, decide to delve deep into the merchant tribe's lore.

Emulating Xenoblade 3, game runs fine for me over 20 hours in but certain map or scenes would give me these graphical tears. 2 did the same thing but restarting the emulator usually fixes it but could still happen again from time to time and happens on all Switch emulators and their forks. Its like certain areas are real sensitive and will break. This is the first time I actually looked into it using Ryujinx and I notice something about missed pipeline whenever the tears start to happen.

CD games are generally in bin/cue format, not just PS1 games
Even PS2 games that are on CD and not DVD are bin/cue (Ridge Racer V for example)
Of course if you don't like your games to be multiple files (some CD games even have several BINs), you can always convert them to a single CHD file (which also saves space)

It does in a sense, though when people talk about accuracy specifically in regards to graphics, they're basically saying they expect the game not to have graphical errors not already present in the original game and for all the assets and effects to look and work pretty much just as they would on real hardware i.e. everything ought to look as it should, from colors to transparencies to framebuffer effects. For the majority of people, that is good enough. Most people don't care about the next step forward, things like making sure the output is pixel-accurate and that the polygons, textures, or shit like dithering patterns are exactly as on real hardware.
>>
>>
>>563487934
Well, again, in a sense they didn't, because they weren't running at 240p on a CRT TV through a muddy composite signal, which does alter the way the games look pretty significantly, and that's what most people emulating would be comparing against. Also, early on, emulators did struggle with things like transparency, which definitely was an issue. I specifically remember struggling with things like the Mist Cave in FF4 and the Ship Graveyard in FF5 because transparencies didn't work on the emulators of the day, until one day I accidentally stumbled upon the layer toggle controls, which was the workaround at the time.
>>
>>563488248
>>563487934
Nintendo's official N64 emulation on Switch Online is still inaccurate graphically
Some effects are still broken, and they're still not using the correct type of texture filtering, making several textures look worse than they should
Third party emulation is actually better than Nintendo's now. We have correct texture filtering and practically all effects are emulated accurately
The only thing that needs to be fixed is timing (DK rap still desyncs near the end, even on Ares. I think the OoT credits cutscene also still desyncs at some point)

Yeah lmao, is your resolution 1080p? If so, make sure you're in fullscreen.
If your display is 1080p and you're in fullscreen mode but it still looks like that, you'll need to adjust the viewport and reflection shader parameters manually using the ReShade GUI. Read the readme.txt.

>Nah it's 4k, but i also using windows itself on 250% zoom, dunno if this matter.
Yeah, you definitely need to adjust the viewport and reflection shader parameters in that case. Sorry, buddy.

Looking at the "Layer.fx" on the "Prepocessor Definitions" tab it was set to 1080p as default, i changed to 3840x2360 and now it looks like this.

As you can see, the black borders (overscan area) still don't look right. The reflections probably need adjustment too; check the readme.txt's reflection.fx section for that. It’s easier to set up the reflections than it is to fix the black borders.

>reflection.fx
Are you sure this is the right name? I can't seen to find it anywhere, be inside the live reshade settings or outside on the files or even inside the _README.txt file, there's only one mention of the word reflection and it's not a .fx.

_README.txt;
Overscan black border.fx: Because every display has a different resolution and aspect ratio, you may need to tweak these sliders in the ReShade GUI (Home key): X/Y MARGIN ADJUST, OVERSCAN ZOOM. This preset is designed assuming a 1920×1080 (1080p) 16:9 host display. Adjust the values if your screen shows black bars, cuts off edges, or appears incorrectly zoomed.
CRT Glass.fx: Same situation with overscan, use "Glass thickness" parameter.

Stil, Reshade still drop some error, mostly with ambient light, something about texture not found and some incorrect values.
Also, he can't even blend the dithering pattern of the save points in Grandia, not sure if it's because of the bugs or just how the shader work.
Anyway, a waster of time, either I stick to Retroarch and its shaders or Ymir with the option to actually had real transparency but with less accuracy and no shader.

Ymir's a waste of time desu, at least for now. Go with RetroArch. Did you fix the PCSX2 and Dolphin ones yet?

Don't bother with those memeforks, nothing's been fixed. That other anon is lying, because I couldn't get Sonic Superstars to run on any of the OGL backends, which is considered a hoop and/or loop.

You've tweaked a lot of settings, but you do you ,its cool.
Also, isn't 3840x2360 a typo? It should be 3840x2160.
I'd suggest enabling two-phase NTSC since this is PS2/SDTV, not an NES/15KHz CRTTV. and double-check your Gamma settings under NTSC_RetroArch_NoScanLines.fx too (2.4 for CRT, 2.2 for Display). And for interlaced stuff in PCSX2, use 512x448 for screen width/height (NTSC).
And you completely turned off 'AmbientLights.fx' , is it not working? Did you follow the Readme?

Just hypervisor it. Denuvo's dead. No one's reported any digital AIDS or data leaks from the hypervisor workaround. Someone would have by now. Any bad crack would be just as bad as malicious, honestly.

Looks like a psychotic breakdown. I'm reading what he called himself isn't his real name, but a character from a book, and that book had another character (whose name he also mentioned) with a daughter. So he was stuck in a LARP, basically.

Yep, i tried but even checking the debug box and everything i'm getting agreesive color changing on the borders, dunno what i'm doing wrong.
>>
>>563540986
Yeah, that looks extremely aggressive. You should probably adjust the other parameters like bloom intensity, edge feathering, falloff curve, and darkness aggression. The margin parameters seem fine (debug: the mask area looks correctly set)

That's okay, i'm gonna fiddle with but even if i need to disable AmbientLights.fx i think it's a great preset, the fact that you don't even need to mess with the reshade installation is a giant bonus, i'm enjoying a lot, probaly gonna play Genma Onimusha on Xemu with it.
