What is this?
A celebration of anon’s varied groups and activities.
For one day /vrg/ turns into a full blown school festival, with rooms, booths, attractions and little corners of chaos all hosted by the different groups and friend circles around the community.

Come wander the grounds and visit what anons have cooked up.
Games, exhibits, hangouts, performances, themed rooms, comfy spots, weird ideas, good ideas, dumb ideas made real.
The whole point is to let every part of /vrg/ show its face and make something fun for everyone else to enjoy.

If you’ve ever wanted to host something, decorate a room, run a booth, make a club attraction, show off your group’s gimmick or just contribute to the general festival atmosphere, this is the event for it.
Big or tiny projects, polished or scuffed projects, they all have a place in a school festival.

This is both a social event and a showcase.
A chance to see what all the different corners of /vrg/ are up to, meet people you don’t normally bump into and enjoy an entire map full of anon-made activities all in one place.

Specially if you are currently or have hosted weekly/monthly/occassional events before and currently!
COME AND SHILL, Grow your club, Entice another anon to try what you love doing!

I will distribute 3 template types:
1) Classroom (2x1, 3x1, 2x2, 3x2, 4x2, 7x1 sizes)
2) Outside Booth (more freeform size)
3) Gymnasium (single toggle)
You'll be free to decorate within these templates

And this is why 99% of game-rips look like shit once the novelty wears off of having Sachiko within harapan distance or John Shepard endorsing every instance as his favourite on The Citadel.
If you just use the game casually (maybe hop on once a week/biweekly, possibly in desktop, for a couple of hours to shoot the shit, or just spend all your time playing Murder/Among Us/Fishing) then you'll probably be content running around as a default VRChat avatar, gamerip of Halo 3 Master Chief or a retextured MMD Cirno with snoop dogg decals. But most power users (i.e., the people that keep the lights on and fuel the creator economy) end up wanting to add more detail to their models in some form so that they can express themselves better.

Within /vrg/? Rarely. Despite having good fundamentals it's shitty for community play. Spectating and chat is locked to team, the visual design is bland as hell and you have to level up in public lobbies to unlock most of the weapons.

Reopen those links and you'll most, if not all, have failed to subscribe. You have to redo it over and over again until it stick. Then you open the game in the background until it stops downloading. Then you get in the game and find half of them are somehow still out of date. It's reticle-based, so once you pushed the handle forward you have to aim at someone and pull the trigger.

The way I found to switch quickly was to pull the handle back and push it forward, this would let you choose a new target (by once again aiming at them and pulling the trigger).

World shaders use many various effects like water, skyboxes, clouds, post processing effects, foliage, and any number of other things. From personal experience I know for a fact that sometimes, all it takes it one to make a world gpu-bound. Actually the biggest offender is shaders that use fancy heightmaps. The way the standard shader handles heightmaps is simple and lightweight, but looks like garbage. The other common world shaders, like silent filamented for example, use a better looking effect, and it's really easy to overuse that without realizing how much it tanks gpu

I think it was better before the modders tried to make it authentic then moved all the grip angles around to match the third person character gaits.
Medigun was just point and click. Sniper had a real 3d scope instead of the buggy 2d shit. Shotgun was easy to reliably pump manually so it didn't need the auto pump option.
It would have been easier to balance if they stuck with classic TF2 too. All the weapons and gadgets Valve added turned it into a balance nightmare but the mod team has just been adding their favourites without much thought.

Scout seemed fine even if my aim is shit, the pump shotguns on the otherhand felt very clunky to use. And desu even in the base game demo and soldier are the best character due to how much spam and damage they can output, atleast in vr reloading the grenade launcher takes awhile and sticky bombs can't be detonated while reloading.

I changed my overlay extension to act more like a standard XR interface to godot. So https://github.com/arpruss/OpenSaberPlus mostly works out the box, just switching out the interface. It's maybe not the best beat saber clone but it downloads stuff from beatsaver and has scoring of some sort.

Needs a bit more work to make it composite better before I publish a build, but nice proof of concept for AR in VR.

it's about... 70% there, which if you're a mega beat saber autist might as well be 0%, but it's definitely playable. Better than the in-vrchat implementations. I think main thing missing is matching the acceleration/note spawning offset, and making the scoring go from 0-115 instead of whatever it's currently doing. It's not my codebase so still figuring it out.

Uninspired singleplayer and dead (often on arrival) multiplayer games are sadly nothing new for VR.
/vrg/ has just suffered the fate of any community as it ages without a constant influx of new users to revitalize it. The novelty fades so they fall into comfortable lower effort routines and begin to direct their passion elsewhere. People remember being burned or disappointed so they reduce their emotional investment which often comes across as pessimistic or jaded.

gme reccomendations? i just head a headset, a quest 3. never used vr before. i want to set up a skyrim vr modded eventually also but no remote clue how to do that, i tried to play some vr games before off of... plug in to your computer mode, but they just rendered as a flat 2d screen floating in front of me. i have a long way to go uintil i understand how to use this headset without it being confusing.

Last Clockwinder is a good puzzle, optimization game. Fisherman's Tale is a good simple little puzzle game that will help you get used to VR. Escape Room Simulator, the first one not the sequel yet, has VR support which works pretty well and community maps though it's obviously not that different from playing flat, though it has multiplayer support which is neat to do in VR. There's the I Expect You to Die series which is more or less a story driven escape room, which is supposed to be pretty good though I can't speak to it.

I knew the games were shit even before buying a headset, and VR Chat made me more lonely rather than less lonely. The tech is so incredibly cool even still, but it's too little, too late. The community is gone. In 2020, I wish I'd bought a VR headset instead of some wow gametime.

From what I saw the most successful people were either: Soldier, Heavy, or Spy. Personally, when I tried Demoman I felt decently strong when the enemy team composition wasn't able to counter me but felt medium once they were onto my ways. Pyro was ideal in close range 1v1s but something was holding it back, probably our lower player count. Medic similarly felt strong but it was hard to feel like I was contributing with the teams being so small.

I didn't try Sniper which would obviously struggle here, but other people were on Scout often and were struggling at times while dominating at other times. I don't know how it works in TF2 but it seems to be a sort of glass cannon.

The shotgun on Pyro was fairly strong, I think Pyro and Scout use similar shotguns?

Overall I think the strong hitscan and strong explosive characters were decently balanced, while we didn't have the team cohesion and player count to make the other classes viable.

Pyro has the same shotgun that soldier, heavy and engineer has, but with not being hampered by the heavy's or soldiers speed while also having 175 health it makes you way better at using the shotty.
Soldier dominates due to how much easier and how much damge your rocket launcher can output, heavys have too much health and dmg to be able to be taken down in most 1v1's and spy is basically just a game sense check (Although don't know how badly the game registers backs, maybe face stabbing is even worse)

Reading posts like this the more I think about it, the more I observe, and the more I participate, the more I convinced that this platform is an absolutely terrible place for actual, productive discussion with the goal of mutual understanding. There's no such thing as a discussion here, or someone spending time to understand the point of view of somebody else -- just hot takes, bad dunks, disinformation-as-fact, and anger.
Even simply listening on this platform requires a collection of caveats that essentially invalidates your conclusions. You have to filter out so much because of what the algorithm encourages users to do that you end up losing most of your data alongside the trash. Twitter has become one of the least reliable data sources for social listening that we have on hand.
Strangely, I feel a little guilty blaming just the platform. The reasoning for this isn't some kind of attachment or emotion, it's just that when I observe communities that are separated by a language barrier -- like the Japanese VRChat community here on Twitter -- the same issues simply are not present. It only seems to occur in the English-speaking sphere.
Maybe that's the product of the algorithm? I'm not sure. I just know it didn't used to be this way, and now it is, and even if I want to try my hardest, this place just isn't healthy for your mind.
