It's worth it in the sense that it allows you to give bungie as little money as possible while still allowing you to play pretty much everything in the game.
If you don't have any of the dlc and want to play the game (for some reason) it's the best way to do it just because of how much money you're not giving bungie to get it.
Destiny is in a terrible, with an unknown future both in terms of the studio killing their popular product to make a flop, and because they have been pretty tight lipped about plans for destiny since edge of fate came out.

That's frankly the bare minimum needed for them for not only D3 to be successful, but for ANY of their future games to be successful. Streamers and reddit guilt tripping the community and telling them how to feel no longer works, and it showed with Marathon being too much of a sweatfest.

It's crazy that Destiny 2's future hinges entirely on whether or not Marathon flops. And I dont think I've ever seen such a toxic feud between two player-bases that stem from the same creator because of that.

If Marathon flops which is undeniable at this point, then Bungie are likely going to have to return to Destiny 2. If Destiny 2 doesn't have another resurgence like it did with Shadow Keep, Beyond Light, and Witch Queen, then I genuinely believe It's going to be EoS and studio closure. There's a small possibility that Sony will foot the server bill for Destiny (2014), Destiny 2, and Marathon but I dont think that would be feasible unless they were compelled to do so (Whales buying cosmetics). There's legitimately nothing in the pipeline for Bungie either, Destiny 3? It's not even in active game development and anything they did have was repurposed for Destiny 2 over 5 years ago and that was probably during a time when they were still committed to D2 being the platform for legacy content and latest content releases.

Like seriously, do you guys actually believe that Sony are going to finance Destiny 3 and wait around 3-4 years for a game that may or may not flop?
That is a wet dream. I think the Destiny IP will ride and die with Destiny 2.

This is what needs to be studied. You don't see the TES vs Fallout shit, ME vs DA shit, or GTA vs RDR shit. There's a ton of overlap but people are ok with one or the other not being for them. They should honestly just rollback the Tier system at this point. I dont hate the idea of portal/ there being a central UI hub for older legacy content like Exotic missions or old seasonal activities (You should be able to get the weapon drops from those seasons in their activities, but Solo Ops and Fireteam Ops need to be removed.
The Legend tab should be for Legacy content, but they should at least put some sort of summary next to the launch button for each and every single one-off dungeon/raid/exotic mission that was tied to removed content or the previous game.

It's really not that hard to salvage Destiny
They could even do a proper sunsetting akin to RoI but they would have to completely overhaul the loot and make uncommons and rares viable again.

my main problem with nu bungie is how scummy they had gotten in terms of rewarding my playtime. there were practically zero good looking endgame cosmetic rewards for beating some of the hardest content. all it gave you was a fucking emblem that u cannot see ingame. if im solo flawless-ing a 3 man dungeon, I expect either a weapon ornament/op weapon/armor set. every single shiny cosmetic got locked behind the eververse towards the end of my playtime. if i ever play a bungie game again its going to be through either piracy or buying grey market keys that dont give bungie any money.
