So I downloaded Home of the Nords for Morrowind and I have two questions:
1. Why doesn't it play nice with Mod Organiser but works perfectly fine with OpenMW? Tamriel rebuilt wasn't a problem.
2. Why am I supposed to be impressed with pre-TESV lore accurate Skyrim again? Yeah, TESV's own version of Karthwasten sucks but the actual geographic counterpart is Markarth, and unless the eventual Markarth in Home of the Nords is also a Nord city built into Dwarven ruins like it is in TESV, I don't really see why I should consider anything to be cooler. Yeah, if we do take Karthwasten to be the counterpart to Karthwasten in TESV rather than Markarth, it is an improvement but it's still just a normal looking city.

This part of Vigilant was really cool. I liked the boss fightmaking use of teleports, summons and evadable spell projectilesand'second stage' afterwards - I like puzzle bosses - though I jumped when the fire and voice started.I also noticed that the item you find onLamae's corpse after curing her is marked as withered, making me think I did something wrong. But it seems like rejecting her invitation, following Jacob's note, was the righteous choice so maybe the live version results from taking the bloody path.

Well, is my face red. That Stallion Potion I bought from Bothela at The Hag’s Cure? I went down to the stables to try it out. It doesn’t make horses run faster at all! I must have got a bad batch or something. All the horses wanted to do is try and make little horses. I thought that shit was going
to be a shoe-in for us cleaning up at the racetrack. Now I’m out a good chunk of change because that stuff wasn’t cheap and I bought ten gallons. Anyway, I poured it down the water well. I’m sure that’s safe enough. It’s not like there are any horses down in the city water, right? That would be dumb, haha. Oh, well, I’m glad nothing more will come of it. Lesson learned, I guess, and it’s a fine day with you around.

Hate to say it but I think the soulsfags are right about some things, in particular that flask mod. I don't like some parts of it but it's undeniably an improvement over having 30 slightly different magnitude healing potions that you have to constantly re-favorite and hotkey.
You could probably achieve a similar effect without the whole flask mechanic by limiting the amount of healing potion types to like 3. A basic healing potion you use regularly, an improved one for alchemy users, and a rare ultimate potion like the divine blessings in dark souls.

why not just use the potion from the favorites menu, where are you getting all these hotkeys from
if you're using default drops instead of customs then you just have to iterate every few levels once you get to vigorous and whatever
if you're making them yourself the supply numbers are on you
if anything there isn't ENOUGH variety in the types of healing potions around, with extra effects added. also they should all be HoT so NPCs can use them without being as obnoxious

I tried installing the Prisma flask mod but didn't like the regenerating charge system. I would prefer it if you had to brew or otherwise acquire more restore potions to replenish the flask, and the regen was replaced by cooldown. I should probably give it another go all the same. I use https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/42402 instead which only uses vanilla potions, but it can get confused if you have potions with mixed effects that include restore.

that's still slow and clunky, I prefer not to use the favorites menu because opening up a menu every few seconds mid combat is just about the clumsiest gameplay you could imagine.

ok, like what? the extra effect thing doesn't work in practice. It ends up as stat stacking which is just annoying busywork. this is part of the fundamental problem with TES potions, they are doing too much with them.

that should not accomplish anything if you are using pgpatcher correctly i.e. pgpatchers output is overwriting bodyslide. if running bodyslide does change your in game meshes it means you installed things wrong, user error as usual.

Make sure you carefully read the PGPatcher basic usage page on the github wiki. I hate how 99% of programmers seem to have crippling communication issues but have found Haka both made a really solid program that genuinely just works and is able to communicate clearly. He's very specific about the order that you need to run patching programs in, notably running Bodyslide, then Synthesis, then PGPatcher.

I dont remember exactly, but if I had to guess, I'd say at most like 8 hours across 3 days (2.5 hours a day after work) I remember the first day I just played with the sliders and ended up with this prototype here. Posted this (along with a bald version to better show the face) got some advice, then a few days later worked on her again, posted another WIP, got more advice, then a few days later finalized Annette's face. The advice I remember getting was to use photos of good looking women as basic refs, and that's what I ended up doing. I think at this point theres just small fine things to do that a matter of preference, but it was a good learning experience working on Annette.

Oh before I forgot, I posted this last thread, but got no replies. If anyone has an idea what could be causing this I'd greatly appreciate it!
>Out of the Palworld mines and into the Skyrim fires. Got an interesting problem /tesg/. I went to update SPID from 7.1.3 to 7.2, and both main game save and test save are crashing during the load. I can start a new save and the game starts and runs fine. I went back to 7.1.3 and dismissed my follower, fast travelled to an open area in the wilderness with no other NPCs, waited an ingame week, then save and quit. Switched to 7.2 and still getting a crash during load. Tried cleaning the save with ReSaver, but there wasnt anything to clean according to ReSaver. I'm not sure what else it could be, though thankfully it still stable on 7.1.3 so my main game isnt fucked. Any suggestions on what else to try before I give up on updating SPID?

I've learned that it's not worth it to update SPID at all because every time they fix something they break something else. Like for a while SPID would distribute clothing to everyone regardless of sex. So I updated it and now it mostly works except Erandur is still wearing a thong and Marcurio is just always naked even though I purposely excluded him from any SPID that would affect male spellcasters.

I do like the Old Orc encounter overhaul he did. But all it did was add a small backstory to the orc. Seems like that's the gist of most of his mods. Small backstories and such. Though afrer Ravengate eventually breaks I am gonna try these few:

Those ones seem really good and are, hopefully, more than just a neat little story with an NPC.

I did the Vigilant side of Blood and Snow. It's eh at best, but it's mostly radiant quests a bunch, get a special quest that advances the story and apparently two big ancient vampire clans are at war. I don't know if the vampire sides are better or not. I mostly have it installed as a easy way to get some levels early on.

I liked it because I hadn't played anything vampire in awhile and it sent you on radiant goose chases like 5 at a time which gave me reason to explore and do things. It doesn't blend well with Dawnguard on the vampire side, but the Stendarr side is right next to Fort Dawnguard so you can do them together. The spells and items are okay.
All its patches were nuked from nexus but it's pretty compatible in most ways

I am pretty sure anything you do in Dawnguard will not effect BaS. BaS is pretty self contained in it's own little story. Though you will get random locations for radiants. Like the first time I did a Vigilant sent me to fucking Trainwiz's WoL dungeons.

the dialogue for deciding to be the guildmaster or not at the end might be affected by Dawnguard
It can also populate its radiants with its own progression locked locations, so for example I had to progress Malaellie(?)'s quests to get into a solitude location for another member's kill quest

The captchas in question are just "which shape doesn't match" and it's two circles and a square (unless you're phone posting)
The only annoying part is that there's a really long delay on the captcha actually loading after I press the button but that could just be something on my end.
Either way suffering through shitposting and the occasional puggerspost if you're up late is better than the alternative of being banned from 46 subreddits because you committed a wrong think (the wrong think was misgendering a fictional NPC)

I really don't get the inclination to do that, it's pretty obvious to me that the intended gameplay is to make a character build out of a variety of skills, not invest everything into one skill. you can see how that concept inevitably falls on its face with skills like the armors and crafting, how exactly are you going to be a light armor main? It could not be more obvious that certain skills are intended to be supplementary, trying beef them out into free standing skills doesn't work.

So what’s the point of using Ordinator at all? These turrets are the only thing that sets Ordinator’s smithing tree apart from Vokri’s. The same could be said of all the other skills. These overdesigned, shitty perks are the only thing Ordinator has over Vokri.

It’s not about scaling, it’s about most of the character attributes being completely useless. Let’s just think about Mechanist character using Enai mods. They could be of any race, as race has no effect on turrets, they could be of any faith, as faith has no effect on turrets, and their other skills are irrelevant, as they simply do not interact with turrets. As a result the entire character is defined by a single perk.

Ok, I can't explain how they work from a developers standpoint but a practical summary is as follows. I'm probably getting some or all of this wrong so if someone else wants to correct me

I'm not confident enough to give a concrete answer sorry. Looking at SAM ingame OBody's body morphs are listed in there so maybe they're the same. When I made the body of the character in webm related I did it via SAM.

As the other guy mentioned the bandaids were discussed a couple of hours ago if you scroll up. The /tesg/ guides are pretty good starting points. One thing to be aware of is Nexus has no QC for AI generated .dlls so don't go downloading everything in sight. One issue with Nexus mod packs is that I believe they are pinned to specific versions of a mod. I have never used Wabbajack so I can't comment on it but in general would say it's better to learn how to fish rather than buying one.
If you're going for vanilla plus it probably doesn't interest you, but one of the biggest changes since 2022 or whatever is the introduction of Precision and MCO which allows you to completely change how combat works, such as bounding the hitbox of weapons tightly to their model, download or create your own attack animations etc.

Alright I'm convinced. ReLight's author claims that data and edits you make are stored only in a json file and this indeed seems to be the case. The interface seems a bit buggy however as clicking the refresh lights button sometimes causes the light template to be unloaded and the light to disappear, and stays unloaded even when loading a save.

I know we talk shit about Bethesda and rightfully so mostly but balancing this kind of game is MUCH harder than people think. When you have a "go anywhere any time" kind of game it's a proper pain in the ass. You either have level scaling or leveled linear regions/progression, nobody has solved this yet. Or make everything static but hard as fuck so it doesn't really get too easy when you level up and get stronger. i think non-party solo rpgs in this perspective are just kind of fucked. the more you play, the more avenues for character growth open up which obviously leads to the problem you speak of. ideally imo you'd want enemies to become stronger not out of just pure stat scaling but by giving them more tools (spells, attacks etc.) to work with, justifying your own increasing array of abilities so it becomes a game where difficulty involves using the right tool for the right job instead of just stat sticks ramming into each other. incredibly basic concepts found in japanese shit like elemental weakness exploitation, defensive abilities to anticipate powerful enemy moves etc.. but how do you make multiple encounters not feel clumsy or exhausting in a beth game? a more intuitive UI or control scheme would probably be the first step

One thing they sort of started doing with skyrim that really helps is enemy tiers, basically a common bandit not being the same as a monster or a giant etc, no matter the level. Oblivion is by far the worst example of not doing this, every enemy from bandit to badass monster feels exactly the same to fight, tanky as fuck, just the worst kind of scaling. At the end of dungeons there is supposed to be a stronger "boss" enemy, I didn't even know that.

Is there a theoretical limit to how far you could expand the Morrowind map with mods or could it go on forever? Because unlike Shivering Isles, Dragonborn and most "new lands" most in Oblivion/Skyrim that kind of had to be new maps, the official Bloodmoon and unofficial Project Tamriel expansions of Morrowind actually do expand the map to include new lands. Granted, it's insane to try and go to Solstheim without transport but you can do it.
Because I think it would kinda cool if not only could you go to every official Tamrielic province in Morrowind, but also places like Akavir, Yokuda, Atmora and Aldmeris, then to all the fanfic continents beyond that, and further fanfic bullshit beyond even that! Imagine, playing Morrowind forever and ever and never ever again running out of stuff to do or places to visit? Wouldn't that be a dream come true?

I keep thinking about my hair-brained scheme to make skyrim feel bigger by scaling down people/buildings/creatures/etc. Picture if you will the whole of Whiterun but scaled down to about 75% to half its size while all the landscape around it remains the same. Perfect for adding onto towns.
But that is also therein one of the problems. Nothing would be compatible with it and you've got all this nice extra space for town expansions you've got to make.

If I remember correvtly the reason Beyond Skyrim and other new lands mods opted for separate world spaces instead of bigger landmass was not for the floatspace bugs but because Havok starts fucking up in really dumb ways that break the whole game if you have a worldspace that is about 30% bigger than Vanilla Skyrim and you go beyond that 30% bigger point
That's why the Cyrodiil, Elsweyr, Valenwood landmass in BS is the biggest possible landmass you can achieve with the current Havok bug

I did try more Female bandits and foresworn (more enemies), but it fills every fort/ruing with a million high-level enemies with good gear. Impossible to play.

they really don't do anything. the more convoluted ones change the buying and selling rates for different locations, trying to simulate a supply and demand thing, but that kind of mechanic is completely pointless. in effect it just amounts to busywork for the player, forcing you to travel to locations with better rates sitting through even more loading screens. attempting to simulate real economic forces in a singleplayer game where the only economic force seen by the player is what he can get for the loot picked up from dungeons is a gigantic waste of time.
the game already suffers from constant selling off of garbage because of low gold limits on vendors, making that situation even worse is literally worse than vanilla.

If you are going to completely ignore the primary mechanic of the mod you might as well not install it in the first place. If you sell your loot at the nearest vendor as you would in vanilla, then the mod is functionally identical to a random modifier on prices, the attempt at simulating economy is completely wasted.
I think you are the one failing to roleplay here if you install a mod for roleplaying then completely ignore what it's attempting to roleplay. My point is that trying to roleplay that function is tiresome and pointless, no different than attempting to simulate realistic toenail clipping and hair trimming mechanics.

The solution is to add dialogues where you can inquire about local demands and oversupplies with merchants or townsfolk, or just by observing the prices firsthand in shops, and then if over say a three month period you visit your steward/spouse in that hold and give them money and ask them to buy x amount of a trade good (only certain things would apply, like various wines and alcohol, types of cheese, types of ore) and the amount you have to give them in the dialogue in order to purchase the amount you want to also includes the cost for a trade cart to make trips to the hold you want to send the trade cart to, which has to be one you also have a spouse/steward in. The dialogue options for how much to purchase are limited to how much that hold has available to sell, and if you purchase the max it can spare, the price will also go up as you're purchasing it, factored into the amount your spouse/steward asks for that quantity as well.
You can also one dialogue later pay them more for basic or specialized guards for the cart, otherwise it's just a merchant cart.
Based on the guards you buy or not buying any there is a chance (small with any guards, somewhat larger with no guards, very small with specialized guards) that the cart never arrives and you get a note by courier from the spouse/steward that they expected it by now and don't know what may have happened.
This generates a miscellaneous radiant objective to any available spots along the road the cart would take between those two points, or possibly it's a radiant with no marker at all and you have to go travel that road yourself until you come upon the merchant/guards running to you for help, or in hiding, or enter the POI with the broken ransacked cart next to it, etc, and you can usually get back some or all of the supplies and have to repair the cart, load them in, get the merchant and guards back to it (or drive it yourself in events where they died/die in the meantime) to go to the destination.

And then at the end of the three month trade time window, or a few days after the cart event if there is one, you get word by courier if you don't already go talk to the destination spouse/steward that the cart arrived and the inventory was sold. The price would go down as they were selling it depending on the volume sent and the volume of demand the destination has, so though it will all always sell, sometimes it won't be profitable at larger volumes and sending carts from larger holds to smaller holds. You pick up your full proceeds from the destination steward/spouse and then can reinvest. Maybe you can even do multiple of these at once, up to the number of stewards you have, each can only send a cart to a single other destination at once, or maybe even once each per market period be it three months or whatever, to keep the scripting simpler.

the idea of putting some management sim/tycoon game system into skyrim is just dumb. literally nothing about the game is set up to fit that, you play an individual adventurer doing quests and clearing dungeons in first person. at that point you are just trying to graft a different game into skyrim.
for some reason it has never been a problem when shops in legend of zelda games all sell at the same prices clearly existing in service of the core adventuring gameplay rather than trying to become its own independent gameplay system.
the possibility of modding really causes people to lose the plot. the jeff goldblum rule applies, just because you could doesn't mean you should.

That's for the player to decide. Your character could be a cyborg sent from the future, or maybe they were infused with alien DNA during childhood that gave them superpowers. Either way your build shouldn't be placed at a disadvantage because of a simple cosmetic choice; the system is designed to herd tanks towards Orcs, mages towards Elves/Bretons, and fighters towards the other human races.

Should be balanced more reasonably than they are in the games. Spell tomes that make certain perks/bonuses redundant should be exceedingly rare, maybe even locked behind certain harsh requirements like cannibalizing a baby or torturing a hobo.
