I don't mean "serial murders" like you have ten characters and one or two of them are secretly the murderer and at the 20% point they kill one and at the 50% they kill another and so on, and then at the end of the story you figure out how they did it. I mean "serial murder mysteries" like you have fifteen characters and then one of them kills another, and you solve that mystery, then out of the remaining thirteen you have another one kill another, and you solve that mystery, etc. So in the course of one game you get to solve multiple mysteries and whodunits, but keep the same cast unlike an episodic mystery story.

Can honestly say I don't care much for Muramasa.
Protagonist is very interesting at first but soon turns out to be a mostly one-note righteous superhero type, endlessly self-prostrating in self-condemnation, a man who really only wants to do good and not much else.
Heroines are something the writer does not appear to be very interested in. None of them are particularly developed. Ichijou quickly just settles into admiring Kageaki without doing much until later on. Little interesting dynamic or depth between them.
Comedy has excellent moments of dry character humor but also tons of shrill generic anime moments that often create a tonally dissonant atmosphere.
Storytelling can be a bit pedestrian, like that early reveal about the teacher seemed half-baked or the entire episodic approach of "going to new location, meeting new characters/villains who then disappear, next location" structure. Mysteries don't seem that mysterious, Ginseigo isn't that compelling.
It's unfortunate because it does a lot of other things really well (like that very first prologue battle was really well-written) but if I just don't really care much about anything that happens something went wrong I think or I'm not the intended audience. Also haven't finished so maybe it will get super good later on.

Did we read the same novel? In what capacity is kageaki one note? He wrestles with his burden to take down ginseigo and his path to get there constantly and his guilt is very valid. He accepts the curse of committing objectively evil acts to stop a greater evil. And towards the end with the help of sorimachi you realize kageaki was just lying to himself this entire time. He never once refers to himself or carries himself as a hero. This is especially emphasized in ichijous route which leads me to my next point.

I read like the first 1-2 hours. The prologue was written with skill, whether one likes it or not, I think there were some echoes from Subahibi. The rest seemed like a self-aware ""deconstruction"" of the dating sim genre and ""satire"" of eroge tropes with a protagonist teacher ""preying"" on his students and this being pointed out by the creator. Generally left a distasteful impression overall due to self-aware "look, I'm satirizing dating sims" tone and schizophrenic "I don't really mean what I'm presenting in a literal sense, it's ironic and self-aware and I, the creator, am distancing myself from the content and dating mechanics and the protagonist's lustful intentions while also making fun of it in a subversive way". Basically classic problems of metafiction and satire.
