Every time I want to play Animal Crossing again, I am reminded that my entire island got nuked because I didn't use the transfer tool thinking that the cloud save option would kick in on the Switch when I moved from my Switch to my Switch OLED. It immediately kills my motivation to stick to a new island/town for more than a week.

Huh. I don't really remember that incident. On 4chan, at least. I do remember there was a female avatar named "Beans" who was autistic about Axel. Then there was another Anon who was super autistic and hated Beans, and kept spamming the thread with in-game screenshots of her avatar wearing shirts with poop on them, and wearing the poop hat.

New Horizons was ultimately disappointing, but I did have a ton of fun with it for a few months when it came out and everyone in the world was playing it.

Yeah, but a lot of the interactivity is gone and you won't be able to get the fruits of other places unless you make a second save. I actually like it because there's less to do and its more chill than NH. Just log on, wander around, do what you need to do, log off.
