fishbotting should be safe because I think the mini-game is played entirely on the client. The only way retards get caught is because they walk away from their PC for 10+ minutes and the GM happens to come by and check on them and they don't respond.

I got caught with a fishbot on Horizon despite being at my desk when it happened. The GM can read your inputs. When they spin you around your bot will usually just spazz out and spam /fish a hundred times because it doesnt understand you have been turned around. I switched mine off as soon as he span me but there was maybe 5 seconds or so where I realised what was happening on my small window having the game open. I assume on his window he could see /fish happening despite being spun. A 'normal' player probably wouldnt spam it even within a short time.

There are some options usually on the bot that disable fishing when you are moved but not spun. I got away with it for a month or so but eventually got caught at Knightswell fishing moat carp. I also had a mule I was /trading fish to so that I could stock up on more before running back to San'd'Oria and then banned that mule at the same time too. Which meant they had been monitoring my character and the trades for a while (my mule was running on a separate internet connection, so a different IP)

tl'dr Horizon GMs are ruthless.
