the pure class masteries aren't going to make up for anyone being able to get blast bones, scarab, streak or even the insane flat crit damage you can get from assassination and aedric spear passives. they ruined the game
>>
>>
>>2252461
a passive will not be be better than getting all the passives from assassination in addition to abilities such as merciless resolve, it won't happen. i don't think merciless resolve is overpowered either i think it's perfectly fine within nightblade. it's not perfectly fine with scarab and fucking streak, both of which abilities are fine on their own. all of these problems were created for no reason
>>
>>2252484
I don't think class masteries will be better than subclasses either, that's why I used the word 'competitive' in that post. If they're good enough, some people might prefer them over the hassle of leveling an entire skill line again.

Year 2041 Zenimax will annouce ESO end of service. At the same time, Zenimax will officially release the VRMMORPG ESO2. ESO2 will be virtual reality game like from the anime SAO.

This year is probably make or break, could be anywhere from just 2 to another 10. The DK refresh, overland difficulty and now class mastery are steps in the right direction, but the game could keep bleeding players anyway if the new content isn't good or is spread out too thinly.
There's another danger now too, the new Xbox head is some Indian AI exec with absolutely no game industry experience likely hand picked by Satya "NOOO DO NOT CALL AI SLOP" Nadella. ESO could go into a glorious renaissance and still get shut down because ZOS didn't use copilot to monitor the efficiency of employee bathroom breaks or something, or she could ruin the game herself with ridiculous demands.

It's true. ES related stuff that came out after skyrim and its dlcs:
>Skyrim and Oblivion re-releases
>A card game that already hit EOSwhile ToT still exists
>Mobile spin-offs, 2 of them
ESO is hard carrying the franchise on its back
>/tesg/
Who cares what that shithole thinks. My posts and screenshots about ES: Castles were ignored there and discussion about the oblivion remaster lasted less than a month. /tesg/ is a place for skyrim mods only.

It's reddit posts like these that confuse the fuck out of me. this one claims
>Solstice will be added to ESO Plus in March
https://www.reddit.com/r/elderscrollsonline/comments/1q8mm8k/update_49 _stream_summary_and_notes/
and it's the only source i can find. pretty much nowhere does it say so. i even watched this garbage and couldn't hear anything remotely like that. solstice is in the pts, sure, and that's about it.

Not at all if you look at the past. The game's always been on sale during spring sale. Why wouldn't it be this year, too? They're expecting new players for Update 49 and Season Zero. Why wouldn't they give them the best opportunity to buy existing content at a huge discount just before they start selling something else. What's their Steam store page going to say after Update 49? That they're currently only selling the main game for 2$ and nothing else until April?
Gold Road with all past chapters cost 17$. People have always been saying that it's the cheapest before a new chapter releases. Nothing's changed regarding their discount pattern for the current expansion nor is it unusual for them to demand money for the next content in April where they used to start selling pre-orders packages.
Also, it seems entiirely unrealistic to expect them to drop Solstice into ESO+ just like that when this only ever occured whenever a new chapter was already available.

Random group in DLC dungeon 80% of the time someone who doesn't know boss mechanic will active hard mode without telling the group.
Create a group in group finder wanting to do hard mode for DLC dungeon, 2 hours in can't get a full party.

never happened to me
>Create a group in group finder wanting to do hard mode for DLC dungeon, 2 hours in can't get a full party
the group finder is mostly for trials and to find a partner for the infinite archive. players generally don't use it for dungeons
you have a better chance at forming a HM group by announcing it on the zone chat

Hey /tesog/
Haven't played the game in 2ish years, wondering how's the state, worth getting back into?
Did the 'classless' rework make the game better build flexibility/combat balance/variety-wise and how was last year's new content out of curiosity?
And what's this about romances, is the flirting dialogue just flavor or did they actually add npc romance? And is this available in old content or just latest expansion (not romances, but the dialogue in general)
Anything else that I should know?
>>
>>2259811
They replaced the studio head who had prioretized making a different mmo (said mmo also got axed). There is a lot more communication from zos now too.
Right now I would say we are in restructuring when it comes to content. We are getting battle passes soon which would be the new paypig thing. Stuff like strories, dungeons and zones will be free. Existing dlc and chapter dlc will gradually become free, starting with Greymoor this summer(?).
Subclassing in my opinion was the greatest thing they have introduced to the game. You now have a ton more flexibility when it comes to making your character. Though now everything is fatecarver in pve and pvp is just a few of the strongets skill lines dominating with little to no variety.
Last year was fine, they introduced a new island south of black marsh where the worm cult have invaded.
There is one npc that is able to be romanced(i think), the rest iis just flavour and doesn't actually lead to anything. Old content stayed the same.
There is going to be an update in just under two weeks with tons of quality of life improvements and Dragon Knight class changes. Battle passes will come later and oh new harder(?) pve content in the form of the night market, but I believe I heard it got nerfed a bit, so idk.
>>
>>
>>2259811
subclasses made build varieties worse, everyone now uses the same skill lines. they are trying to fix this by doing reworks on every class and adding more passives for players that opt-out of subclasses.
>romances
there are some new dialog options to flirt with npcs and we just had an event centered on companions.
>Anything else that I should know?
this year is focused on QoL improvements with little new content

I appreciate the response.
Yeah I wasn't expecting ponchos or capes, so I am not disappointed that there aren't anything similar.
What is the best way to check clothes and armor in ESO? Is it possible in game? I don't mind if there are only third party ways to do so, but it would be cool if I can just check out stuff while inside the game

>Existing dlc and chapter dlc will gradually become free,
They never said that! Greymoor is becoming free because of something it introduces to the entire game, I don't recall the name, archeology? Whether they make every old content free eventually is something they NEVER clarified. That's OUR interpretation.

I mean it is not just greymoor but the year one dlc as well and march of sacrifies and moon hunter keep dungeons. Also by the logic of greymoor becoming free because it adds something to the entire, other chapters should become free too. High Isle for ToT and Summerset for jewelry crafting, etc.
Yeah I guess it's just our interpretation though I believe they did say all future content that aren't battle pass related will be free. Not sure where I got that past dlc will be free as well, but why why would zos just stop at making a few of the dlc free?

They should make the DLC pledge dungeon of the day free to play. Just give generic RND rewards instead of DLC sets. But god damn base game dungeons get bland and I'm not about to get ESO+ for dungeons due to queue times.

Didn't play for a while, heard about the overland difficultyupdate and that the subclassing has been in for a while. Read the thread and apart from what >>2259918 and >>2260023 answered to the other dude
What is the state of the game in terms of playerbase health? Is it dramatically decreased or still alive and kicking? Does it look like the game has a long life ahead or does it seem like EOS is not too distant (in the next 5 years)

I am talking about PC because consoles are irrelevant
>Server population decreased considerably, specially after the writing wall event. In 2021 you had up to 20k average players per day on Steam, now it's down to 9k.
>PVP is dead, only the sweatlords keep playing
>PVE random groups are dead, less people willing to teach noobs and less veterans around
>It takes ages to get into a random dungeon
>Random groups for trials (raids) are now extremely rare to find, you'd have to be in a guild and still the group would struggle to fill
>Markets are slow
>Plenty of people used to help you do stuff, now it's only asocial zoomers who are afraid of even using /whisper
This year is the point in which the game is reborn or dies, the devs and decision makers did not treat the player base kindly over the years
TL;DR: It's playable due to all the content but you'll get bored or frustrated easily if you seek group content

Add full on romancable companions with LOOOOOONG and varied romance quest chains and activities and keep upating them with new content. They will get easy money from lonely people who get to date waifus in a mmo.

They could fix the queues for group content and provide an incentive to play with people if its a player pop issue.
personally, none of my friends from back in the day still play, but I logged on recently because the game was on my mind.
I go to queue for dungeons -> 2.5 hr + queue because no premade, give up before it pops.
ok no problem, i'm a big boy I can make new friends, time to get new guild so I can get new premades.
apply to guilds on the guild finder, fill out applications like it's a mfing job whatever I have a pretty high champion point level and vet trial clears from back in the day and I can restrain myself from dropping slurs in the application field so no biggie, I'll come back in a few days. wrong, every dude checking the guild apps walked into the woods ten years ago to suck off bigfoot and exactly 0 out of the dozens I applied to accept me.
at this stage I've been online for 5ish hours over multiple days and done absolutely nothing including an astounding 0 minutes and 0 seconds in group content, and doing literally anything else with my life is looking like a more and more appealing prospect every second.

Bikini. I'm not buying the countless dogshit outfits they've put into the game. I got that argonian breeder outfit when it released and nothing else. Prudish bastards keep wondering why ESO keeps losing to Black Desert, Final Fantasy XIV or Guild Wars 2 and the shitty fashion is the biggest reason why actual TES enjoyers prefer other mmos.

A new class that streamlines support roles. They're tedious to play so no one does, resulting in hour-long dungeon queues for DDs and trial groups sitting around waiting for a tank.
The battlepass stuff looks promising. They're catering to the MMO cosmetic hoarders without ruining my morrowboomer tourist experience. They should throw crates in with crown store or subscription purchases to engage light spenders.
Other than that there should simply be novel content. Assets reused more creatively. Let players run dungeons and trials from finish to start, prop hunt, mount karting, instanced cities under invasion, an 8 player boss rush version of the IA. Interns could code this shit within a couple of months. I have no idea why the big event of the month is always "grind these dailies from 2016" or "delve bosses drop event loot".

Sorc, NB, and Templar have the best passives for it, but that's very subject to change as we know nothing about the WW rework yet. Base class could stop mattering at all, or matter more than ever, or passives could get changed up as the other reworks roll out.
