While the franchise itself is good and actually has potentials, they came out at the wrong time. Age, i would even say. The 2010s anime field is good but there's pretty much no way to generate money back then aside from selling BDs. If only they came out now, i'm 100% sure it will have its own hype wave, they can do both anime and run a proper gacha.
