They've handled Master Duel very well. The F2P is generous and they don't do anything too greedy for monetization. Updates have made the game better and better over time with many QoL updates added.

Star Leap is making all of the story characters free to recruit, and you won't need any gacha characters to get through the story, so that's a good start at the very least.

I WANT to be hype for it because like >>1803577 I've been a fan of this series since the original first released. Suikoden 2 is my favorite PS1 RPG and Suikoden 5 is -probably- my favorite PS2 RPG.
However, it's a Japanese gacha. Based on an existing IP. This makes things bode incredibly poorly. The likelihood of this being a cheap cash-grab with horrible rates, pitiful income, and going EoS within the first year is much higher than it going on to be a huge success, because that's just how Japanese salarymen make their gachas these days.
But I'll definitely give it a try. I really dig the character art because it has that classic JRPG look to it, and even the gameplay seems fun.

Regarding the game, they showed off a lot of new characters, minigames and facilities. I'd say it's getting close to a playable state, but no release date yet.
They did say there will be a playable demo over at TGS though, I hope theres footage of it.

I was enjoying the cameos throughout the trailer and then I went nuts with excitement when 'lil Viki appeared. Previously what convinced me that this game might actually be fun as a Suikoden game was the reveal of Viki being present and now it's revealed that 'lil Viki will be there too.

I saw some people online making a fuzz about it when it's no big deal. They made it clear that the game heroes do not have a canonical name so every adaptation is free to choose one. We got used to Tir and Riou from the novels, but they're going with Rean for the stage and Riulu for the anime. All these names are official but only valid in their own source. Your hero is whatever you name it.

Which sucks because the longer this takes to come the greater chance it has of sinking in the vast ocean of gachas that are already flooding the market.
Like sure, people like me who are long-time fans of the series are going to try it regardless. But nostalgia can only carry things so far when there's so much competition out there vying for your time.
