It's because Florian's design changed. In the early reveal trailers, his face looked a little different and he had that weird blush. He looked bad.
Also, we didn't know yet that he had that little cowlick underneath his hat, it makes his design a lot better. The hat looks terrible on male characters.

I just hope regardless of the base design, we get plenty of customizable options. Z-A was a nice step in the right direction, and I want to see GF expand on this aspect for Gen 10.

Personally I've always liked to assume all the protags are around the same age, with a 1-2 years difference at most. Some boys grow up and develop sooner than others despite being the same age, with some deceptively looking older or manlier. I prefer this headcanon than obsessing over who fits this or that category.

I'll have to see more of this new Pokeboy before I make up my mind on how I feel about him, but at the moment? I honestly would probably rank him on the lower end. Doesn't mean I don't like him; but I'd like to see what his clothing customization opens will look like before I settle on how I feel. I'm hoping we'll be able to swap out not just his top layer, but his wetsuit as well. I'd like to see different colors and designs. I'm worried though that some of the clothing customizations will be version exclusive (like apparently, the hats are) and I'm annoyed by that, honestly. Certain Pokemon will always be version exclusive; it's been like that since the beginning, but let's not make other things (like clothing) version exclusive too.

I'm using #ポケモン風波 on pixiv/Twitter for Winds Waves art and it's almost all art of the girl and the new Pokemon. Yes, plenty of AI art mixed in, especially if you include the R-18 stuff, but whether it gets factored in or not, there isn't much art of the boy (and even then, it's him with the girl generally). The boorus I'm using tags like pokemon_ww since the protagonists don't have names atm, but if you click on an art with the boy or girl, it show a tag on the side like "male protagonist (pokemon ww)" that will narrow it down. Still not much for the boy, either. One booru has 18 pieces of art of him (some of which are just his promotional art) but the girl has 78.
There's likely more out there, but every place I've checked so far, she's seriously dominating him. It's still early obviously, but it so far it doesn't seem like his design is resonating with artists.

Yep, my experience is the same. Pixiv tagging is horribly bad, and I find better artwork on twitter by doing nothing and waiting for untagged recommendations than by searching.
You can disable AI and R-18 art on pixiv btw.

Oh I'm aware of the toggles for AI art/R-18, but I leave both on because, and I know this is going to be an unpopular opinion, but I'll take what I can get. Pokeboy art can be hard enough to find as is. I never post the AI stuff that I save, because I know most people don't want to see it. I get it. But I'm not going to be that picky when it's already slim pickings. The AI stuff is typically "good enough" for me to enjoy.

And this is what saddens me. Anytime you find an artist who illustrates male-focused Pokeboy art, they are alwaaaaays a shotacon. Don't get me wrong: I'm a shotacon. I love shotas. But, man, I also like variety. Draw 'em as teens, draw 'em as young men, just... draw them as a body type other than shota or beefcakes. Even the actual teenaged Pokeboys get hit by the shota-beam more often than not.
