Kek, it's the version of the image with the retard watermark nearly removed.
>Would you like the next PMD game to feature a guild, or be more like Rescue Team where you're on your own?
A guild of sorts should be feature, easy way to add side characters with a degree of involvement on the plot. If they take after Super instead of Explores and have more than half of the cast not be fucking worthless, all the better.
>What Pokemon do you think should run the bank and dojo in a future game?
Gimmighoul/Gholdengo would be no brainers for the bank, but I hate those fuckers, I'd rather have the deposit box over them. As for the dojo, Sirfetch'd coul be fun, have him be an instructor to pararel how Farfetch'd is a teacher in Super.
>Have you ever used the dojo in the games? If not, what would they have to offer reward or gameplay-wise in order to peak your interest?
In red/blue rescue team and explorers, just did them to check them of the list, with no intent to grind exp. I enjoyed the dojo minigame in DX, and used it to time to time. Didn't bother with the move training dojos in Gates.
>What is your opinion on PMD having "unique" variants of pokemon as major characters, such as shiny celebi? Do you think PMD should use them more often?
Emo Dialga recolor can stay in 2007 for all I care. There isn't much need to have special variants when you have a huge pool of mons you can cast into whatever roll best fits it.

I never believed the post-apocalypse theory. If the world used to be populated by humans, why don’t we see ruins all over the place?
>inb4 those 2 friend areas from RT
2 places isn’t enough. Also, it’s easy to say those places were only included because PMD canon wasn’t fully solidified yet.
They’re so weird and out of place, I personally imagine they were somehow teleported into the PMD world from the human world, just like how humans keep getting teleported into the PMD world.

eldegoss for bank, crabrawler for dojo

i used it once but i don't remember playing it after that. needs to be a little more comprehensive about the mechanics. also, it's pique.
>>What is your opinion on PMD having "unique" variants of pokemon as major characters, such as shiny celebi? Do you think PMD should use them more often?
i don't have an opinion, i think shinies should be allowed to be characters. just be sparse with them and you're good

Agree with this. Explorers makes some backwards retarded decitions in terms of gameplay that I absolutely hate. IQ was made more powerfull, about as grindy and the IQ skills are split across diferent groups. Some don't get any good IQ skills, and some get to know the map layout and general map direction permanently. Same with exclusive items, some pokemon have worthless effects, others are broken. For elemental gems some types get permanent 2x speed if the weather is right, and those that need clear weather work if you just equip a weather band. Pokemon are better or worse in part through arbitrary stuff like IQ groups and exclusive items. Also most legendaries are just met in random dungeons if you have a Secret Slab up your ass.
Rescue Team also has problems like that (party members being dismissed at the end of each day, final stage evos being unrecruitable...), but they're moreso misguided decition due to it being the first entry on the side series, more understandable imo.
Reasons as to why it's an unpopular opinion I'd say is because the issues explorers have don't really affect the main game. By the time the postgame comes, your average retard is only thinkin of "The ending is so sad, I crwied" and Grovyle (or worse, GrovyleXDusknoir) shit to notice the flaws.
Rescue Team on the contrary has a great postage, it gives each legendary a distinct encounter, for once, and tries some cool shit, like meteor cave and the wish at the end of wish cave. When Explorers tries to do something funky like that, you get Aegis Cave.

Unpopular Opinions? Mine is that I don't like themeta elementsin Gates, specifically the whole"MC is (You) travelling between the PMD and real worlds"part. But I also don't like it in other games like the Bravely Default series, so it is not just a Gates thing.
It is a somewhat novel idea but it just doesn't sit right with me for some reason.
>>
>>
>>58965293
Got it, I'll just:
>Add all IQ skills to all IQ groups, disregarding thatenemies also get IQ, So I'd also have to set enemie IQ to 0 for every floor of every dungeon.
>Increase IQ yield from gummies
>Set the odds for all pokemon (male and female) to drop boxes containing exclusive items to 0.
>Remove Croagunk's shop
>Add dungeons and cutscenes for encountering and defeating all legendaries that are dumped in dunngeons, as well as bossfights.
>Remove Aegis Cave.
While I'm at it I might aswell remove Spinda's Cafe and Sky Peak/Make it into not 10 beach caves in a row, make hero/partner evolve after graduation...
Now I can finaly enjoy Explorers!!! Pass me the GrovyleXDusknoir art!(Don't you fucking dare)

Explorers of Alpha is the only one worth a fuck. Though it adds so many changes that it's significantly different from vanila, you should experience it first before then checking alpha.
Don't bother with any other balance hack, the QoL they add can be for the most part eassily patched from SkyTemple in a manner of minutes, and they kinna just add the most average furmons alwell as muh shinies of a handful of mons.
>>
>>
>>58965599
Have you played Rescue Team? I'd play that first, and for your first playthrough of explorers just play through it vanilla. The game doesn't really need any major QoL stuff, unless you REALLY want the ability to use any move by holding down L like the later games.

Outside of Explorers of Alpha or just changing what you want in Skytemple, there's also Project Orion which is a QoL hack with changes and rebalances. It has a document with a list of changes.
https://mega.nz/file/AQ9hFJ4K#tqwRB4ZNIKZcqZuNPmNTif248YHpomKsC4WgtL9Q qDU
It does change the starters, but if you don't like them it should be trivial to use Skytemple to switch to the ones you want.

> If you save at the Kangaskhan Rock in Spinda's Cafe and then turn off the game/go to Top Menu, when you reload you'll be in the guild bedroom. Likely a failsafe of the game itself and not a real concern.
You need to add the Spinda Café map to the case in coro EVENT_DIVIDE_RESUME: Open unionall, search for coro EVENT_DIVIDE_RESUME, and inside the big list with loads of case X:, add one of your own with main_EnterGround(LEVEL_P01P04A, 30); inside it. case 227: is the ID for Spinda’s Café btw. Then in the enter00 file for Spinda’s Café, you’d need to add a check for $SCENARIO_MAIN_BIT_FLAG[7] that spanws you by the statue, and not at the entrance of the café (you can look at the enter00 script in G01P07A aka the guild bedroom for reference).

>If your partner faints in a dungeon when you have no Reviver Seeds, you can still continue on. However, they will not be in your party after the dungeon and cannot be added back in via the Assembly. To remedy this, hit R on the overworld. This is a failsafe I added that will force your party into the Protag/Partner composition.
You could add a check to the in unionall to see if you have the hero and partner on your team, and if not, then you set it to hero and partner with no involvement from the player.
In coro GETOUT_SCENARIO_DUNGEON (in essesnce, where the game sends you if you beat a dungeon during your first go in the story), you’d have to manually add the check inside of the case that corresponds to a main story dungeon.
Also in coro GETOUT_SCENARIO_DUNGEON, by the debug_Print('DUNGEON_GETOUT_DEAD');you should add the check there, within an additional check to see if scn($SCENARIO_MAIN) <= [29, 4], which should determine if you are haven't graduation or you're in postgame propper.
In coro GETOUT_REQUEST_DUNGEON (essentially where the game sends you if you revisit a dungeon), you can do the same check for hero and partner + check for story progress used in debug_Print('DUNGEON_GETOUT_DEAD');. Putting it all at the start of the coroutine shouldn’t cause trouble.
The downside of this is that your recruits get dismissed, so in a handful of places, like in your first far Amp Plains clear, before the boss fight, I’d advice against using it. I haven’t tested it, you might come across an issue where the changes to your team members (moves/exp) get reset to those you had upon starting the dungeon, I dobt that’d be the case, but keep an eye out for that.

>Attempting to use the Lower Guild hole warp in TwilightMenu freezes the game in Bidoof's Wish. Performing this action on emulator spawns a dummy 2nd partymember behind you, like a totem pole or Spoink, but does not crash the game and leaving to the east and reloading the area fixes it.
This is because you didn’t add the special episode check that all other transition points in treasure town use, as such, when taking that warp, the game defaults to the station that contains PLAYER and ATTENDANT_1. Since there’s no partner in the special episodes, that’s the cause of the crash.
You need to copy what the other map transitions do. Create a new sector (X) in G01P04A that only contains PLAYER_BIPPA and place him by the hole. Do the same for another sector (Y), but with PLAYER_KIMAWARI. In the enter00 script, add a check like the one in the image. Same goes for going from the guild hole to Treasure Town
On the topic of the hole, you could make a hole object and place it somewhere in Treasure Town where there’s room, then you place the warp on top of it, kinna like the totem poles.

Definitely saving these for sure, much appreciated. Next time I work on the hack, I know what I'm doing. It should be pretty obvious by now that i knew fuckall about coding when i started Orion. I still don't know much about coding for what it's worth, but being able to fix the glaring issue of a crash in Bidoof/Sunflora's special episodes is pretty big
I remember I tried to edit the map to make the fireplace actually look like a hole, but I couldn't figure out a way to actually do it without killing all map animations.
Making a hole object that warps when touched definitely sounds like a cleaner solution, though I still gotta figure out some ways to plug it up in case of weirdness like triggering the same cutscene multiple times if you go in it at strange times.
>>58968467
Honestly i think there's probably some line of code somewhere to ban it. I'm told the code that enables leaderswap is activated upon graduation, but the original devs never actually allowed leaderswap inside of any dungeon at all.

Rescue Team DX reached exactly 2 million copies sold 5 years after release. Triying my hand at it rn. The leader switch restriction only seems to apply if the postgame dungeon is not in the request list. It's not a clean solution, but this gives me an idea for a workaround:
The main idea is that, in the script right before you enter the dungeon, you add it to the request list (dungeon_mode(X) = DMODE_REQUEST;). That means that after clearing the dungeon, you'll be sent to coro GETOUT_REQUEST_DUNGEON though, so in the case X: of the dungeon you just beated, you have to check for all values of SCENARIO_MAIN you may have at that point of the story (for Spacial Rift, that'd be [29, 81], [29, 82], [29, 83], [29, 84] and [29, 85]). Inside the check, you get the dungeon out of the request list, and jump to the case X: you would end up in coro GETOUT_SCENARIO_DUNGEON.
Now for diying, you want to take the same SCENARIO_MAIN check from before, and place under the debug_Print('DUNGEON_GETOUT_DEAD');in coro GETOUT_SCENARIO_DUNGEON (You'll most likely have to add the case X: yourself). You still remove the dungeon from the request list, but now you jump to coro EVENT_DIVIDE_AFTER
>>
Only tested it for Spacial Rift so far. Will examine Dark Crater, since request mode likely won't play nice with Cresselia tagging along, and also verify that no missions get generated for Mt. Travail if you faint in it.

Wait a second, scratch all of that. List > Guest Pokemon. The dungeons from the Darkrai ark have HLR (hidden land restriction) when not cleared. If you uncheck it, it lets you swap leaders lol. Pretty sure all these dungeons already have checks in place to only let you enter them with the hero and partner, so there's likely no issue with doing so.

Would be a neat mechanic to see in the next PMD, maybe a super rare version of the reviver seed or something that buffs you at the cost of not being able to use any more reviver seeds for the rest of the dungeon.

What makes PMD so special to you?
How did you get into this spinoff serie?
What's the fondest memory you have from PMD?
What your personal canon hero/partner pairing?

>What makes PMD so special to you?
The gameplay is a big factor. I like how involved it is (Navigation, positioning, resurce management), at leats compared to mainline. Combat may be simplistic, but it's role is to be a backdrop for the other elements at play. The world is also a big plus. A society run by pokemon is muche more interesting than pokemon simply being things that humans own.
>How did you get into this spinoff serie?
Had explorers of Darkness in an r4 card as a kid. I was an idiot who dind't knwo ho to use moves, so I always got stuck at Mt. Bristle. Time later I came back to it and manage to get through most of the game with plenty of save scuming, til I got stuck at Hidden Land. Around there the r4 stoped working (I think it was one of those where the firmware stops working once the Ds' clock reaches a certain date).
>What's the fondest memory you have from PMD?
Beating Purity Forest in DX. I was using Flygon, and even with dragon dance, buldoze and the more generous item pool, I was having a hard time, that's until I learned earthquake at around floor 80, it was really cathartic destroying what was left of the dungeon with that + dragon dance (even if I had to forego party members). The attempt took easilly half the day, and it was at around the start of summer, so the sun stayed up for quite long. That and the GTI medly is what make the run stick in my memory.
>What your personal canon hero/partner pairing?
Not a fan of canon parings, I much preffer to see variety. I guess I preffer depictions of the explorers hero/partner to use starters not found in rescue team since they have some overlap.
>What's one thing you would change about PMD?
I guess the over representation of starter pokemon as playeble options (specially in Super) has to go, since many end up playing quite similar. Give us some more niche options like in Rescue Team (Unlikely, sice at this point, starters are used as sleeper agent marketing).

I never made it that deep into the game, but I don't think so. The idea behind the fanart is that Ampharos and Mawile basically did what you do in RT/Explorers and wished for Jirachi to come explore with them.
>>
>>
>>58985778
>What makes PMD so special to you?
I like how much of a focus it puts on the Pokemon themselves, since in mainline they rarely get to show off any personality
>How did you get into this spinoff serie?
I was too young to remember how I found out about it, but the prospect of being the Pokemon and hanging out with other Pokemon was very exciting to me
>What's the fondest memory you have from PMD?
The fugitives arc from RT was the exact moment I became a preteen. Something about the mild edginess of a Pokemon lynch mob shook me out of proper childhood.
>What your personal canon hero/partner pairing?
Espeon/Marowak, which I think was my original team back in RRT.

It actually focuses on the Pokemon and does more with them than the mindless Thunderbolt machines you get in mainline. Plus, getting to use whatever you want without realizing your favorite pokemon is unevolved and thus unusable.

>What your personal canon hero/partner pairing?
Pic related
>What's one thing you would change about PMD?
I wish the games had more "stories of the week" in them, since I prefer that kind of writing over the typical "world is ending" stuff. The post-grad bit of Explorers has it for a little while with Blizzard Island, the whole Manaphy bit, and even Aegis Cave as bad as the gimmick is there. Then it goes right back to gloom and doom with some guy that comes from nowhere and goes "um aktually i did it all" and it really sours the feel the post-dialga stuff had up to that point.

Simple but emotional stories involving animals have always been something I like, but I think what really sets PMD apart is this along with the soundtrack. The music really elevates the story moments and I'm pretty sure that if it were not for it, fans wouldn't feel as strongly as they do for scenes like the endings.
>How did you get into this spinoff serie?
I had previously played both Chocobo's Dungeon 2 and FF Fables Chocobo's Dungeon for the Wii, and I really liked them.
In the summer of 2009 I was browsing for DS/GBA games to play and that was when I learned about the existence of PMD, though I don't remember if that was in the "/v/'s Recommended Games" wiki or some random recommended games list on the internet.
I saw that the gameplay was very similar to Chocobo's so I immediately downloaded Red Rescue team, then Explorers of Time after finishing it (Sky wasn't out yet).
>What's the fondest memory you have from PMD?
Experiencing Explorers of Time as a whole. I was very obsessed with the series after playing it, eagerly scouring the internet for fanart, remixes, and so on while constantly listening to the soundtrack. And that lasted quite a while too since it was only after finishing Time that I learned Sky existed and was on its way for an international release, further fueling my obsession.
2009 was the shittiest year of my life and the memories of playing and obsessing over Rescue and especially Explorers are the only fond memories I have from that disaster of a year, which makes those memories that much more special to me.
>What's one thing you would change about PMD?
Dungeons could use more interesting traps and some interactive props like in Chocobo's 2. And maybe dungeon-specific mechanics to make each dungeon more unique, even at the cost of having less dungeons.

Want to do a 100% run of PMD DX and I can't decide what starter I'll use.I kinda want to be extra autistic and self insert
I can't choose between Meowth, Mudkip, Squirtle, Bulbasaur and Treecko.
I like meowth because he looks a little clueless and he's a cool pokemon. He also looks better than his evo.
I like mudkip as I remember watching rescue team video on youtube as a kid and the guy I loved to watch played a mudkip and 100% the game. Not one of my favorites but to me mudkip fits the pmd vibe so much.
Squirtle is a pokemon I like and fits the rescue team vibe for me.
Bulbasaur was my first ever starter and was also the pokemon I used as a kid to beat red rescue team.
Treecko is a pokemon I like, mostly because of explorer. It's also the pokemon I used in my most memorable run with my fennekin partner on PMD Super.
Please help me choose

>Mesprit yapping about Time Gears and how she protects them
>Notices that Shinx has a disgusting grin and calls him out
>Riolu partner notices the face too and asks him what's going on
Last thought bubble says something along the lines of "Why can I only think of bad stuff when I look at this child?". Unsure if that is what Riolu/Mesprit is thinking about Shinx's face, or what Shinx is thinking about Mesprit.

Personally I went Meowth/Torchic on a replay, and my first team had Pika/Mudkip. Be warned that Mudkip's moveset without evolving is notoriously bad, but it DOES get Blizzard, and the TM's in DX are a whole lot stronger than in base RT.
