Yeah, that was intentional, because the whole point of THAT arc was to take you to space to fight Deoxys. Can't retard-filter the kiddies, when you're relying on them CATCHING the critter to progress the storyline. BDSP's were all set to default 3 (where 255 is the highest and guaranteed catch). Which is also beside the point that the anime's catch rules ALWAYS operated under whether the pokénmon accepted the trainer trying to catch it (that whiscash in Hoenn that ate a Master Ball, because it dunked on the faggot trying to catch him, Poipole and Solgaleo willingly joining Ash, with Poipole even returning as a Nagaganadel to battle under Ash) and even without comming to the comments in-thread, I had assumed Fug had accepted Roy, which is why he was able to (finally) catch it.

Yes, there always have canonically been multiple instances of every Legendary hanging around the world, to keep it in order. Just because the games limit you to one as game mechanics doesn't mean in-universe or lore, there's not more chilling. That's also why there's shiny Legendaries around, there CAN be multiple, thus there can be the chance of a shiny one appearing. All goes back to the Game Freak games where you can sit resetting until you get a shone.

There are multiple, but this one is connected to a different legend.

Hundreds of years ago there were three "ancient adventurers", Lucius, Gibeon, and Rystal. Each possessed a legendary Pokemon as their partner; Lucius owned the shiny Rayquaza, Gibeon owned a shiny Zygarde, and Rystal owned a Terapagos. Over the course of their adventurers they encountered an oasis of Pokemon, high in the mountainous highlands, and named it Rakua. Investigating deep within the paradise, they found massive amounts of mysterious pink crystals that seemed to have life-altering properties, and deemed this "Rakurium". Lucius and Rystal realized this was dangerous, but Gibeon thought he hit the jackpot, and wanted to use the Rakurium to change the world. Lucius fought Gibeon and repelled him out, and to keep the Rakurium from corrupting the world released his Pokemon and asked Rystal's Terapagos to create a barrier to seal in the Rakurium forever. Lucius chose to be sealed too, to keep an eye on it. The effort caused Terapagos to expend all its energy, and it returned to its dormant state as a crystal pendant.

Meanwhile Gibeon, who had taken some Rakurium before he fled, used it to extend his life. He still sought the mothercrystal deep within Rakua, but needed Terapagos to undo the seal to get it. He founded an organization called the Explorers to seek out and recover Terapagos, and had a child with some girl, who then had a kid named Amethio. Gibeon raised Amethio to be his successor.

Rystal, who was pregnant with Lucius' kid, passed down Terapagos' pendant form as a birthright. Her lineage eventually resulted in Liko, one of the main protagonists. Liko awoke Terapagos and caught it, adding it to her active team. Lucius's lost Pokemon returned to their Pokeballs and were scattered throughout the world, and one washed ashore on an island off the coast of Kanto, found by a local boy, Roy. When Roy met Liko, he showed her the mysterious Pokeball he found, and in a battle with Amethio and the Explorers, the ball opened up, releasing Lucius' Rayquaza. Roy declared that he would one day grow strong enough to catch that Rayquaza.

Over the course of their adventures they obtained Tera Orbs, Roy obtained a Mega Ring, and they fought their way back to Rakua. They fought Gibeon and his Zygarde until Zgyarde had enough of Gibeon's shit and abandoned him, and after Terapagos destroyed the mothercrystal for good, Lucius and Gibeon finally died and departed for the afterlife. Amethio was left to gather Zygarde's cells and inherit his grandfather's legacy.

And now Roy finally succeeded. He grew strong enough, defeated, and caught Lucius' Rayquaza.

Just finished watching the episode and I'm actually fucking mad. It's not because of the obvious "inclusivity" spectrum "the nigger get something" type of shit.. it's because Ult deserves it more. It pisses me off even more they didn't give Rayquaza to him because he's not main character+ he got the debuted mega d.nite.
I really do hope later on we discover ult father was part of the Lucius team in the past and got a legendary of his own, like a groudon or sum shi' similar due to him being a ground expert.

I do feel really bad for Ult fan's,in this episode he got cucked real fucking hard, because not only he did sacrificed himself for Roy,but the nigger also got the nerve to catch it,when he could leave it alone and have a fair fight against Ult before deciding who's gonna own it.
