Depending on how you interpret them, they have a notable amount of ship teasing especially after GSC, it's just usually more subtle than Red/Yellow or Ruby/Sapphire which is shoved in your face. Gold/Crystal obviously not canon but has much more basis than crackships like Green/Blue. It's very popular too, they still get a lot of Twitter fanart on the JP side.
