I was told that the European version of FRLG in the eShop is 39 MB, while the American version is 40 MB. Why is there a difference? I suspected that the Game Corner might be censored in the European versions, but it's NOT.
So why is there a difference at all? Does anyone know?

You're welcome bro!
I just hope someone can answer the question in the OP. I'm literally considering buying the game AGAIN, but this time from the American eShop, if there's more content in the American FRLG version.

If we're talking about the Nugget Bridge glitch, then it's still in the English release, I farmed 25 of them last night for shits and giggles

I can confirm I did it on Japanese version

That's the one, burger english or bonglish? Just to confirm

Interesting.
So if we take that german at their word and they arent doing it wrong, we have a confirmed version difference.

>US sends telemetry to Nintendo
This is actually the best guess sofar in this thread. It explains why the US English ROM is 1 MB larger than the European English ROM.
But it still doesn't explain why the Spanish/French/German European version is 1 MB smaller than even the English European version.

Words, maybe
More or less words depending on the language
And the difference between US and EU may be something related to Game Corner
Seriously, did absolutely no one buy the EU version?

The Nugget Bridget glich is fixed in all EU version EXCEPT the english one because it's a straight port of the US version.

Are you SURE that the English European version is a straight port of the USA version? If this is true, and the USA version is still 1 MB larger than the European English version, then it really must be larger because of Telemetry, like another anon said here earlier.

Windows 10 and 11 don't allow you to opt out officially. All you can do without going out of your way is to select "Required data only". Minecraft has telemetry that you need mods for to disable. On top of the launcher's telemetry. None of that is explained to the player outside of the privacy policy before data is collected. Companies don't care about the GDPR and Nintendo is not known for consumer friendliness or playing by the law.

Not that anon, but what he said makes sense I think, because the American English version and the European English version are identical, yet the European English version is still 1 MB smaller (40 MB vs 39 MB). So, the lack of telemetry in the European English version because of EU laws could explain this?
I think this is the best guess in this thread. If it's not the telemetry, what else could this extra MB be, considering that the Game Corner is intact in all versions?

There is no difference. The US/JP releases were originally listed as 40MB, and the European releases were originally listed as 39MB. When they updated the eShop to re-add the "Home compatibility coming soon" line, they corrected the filesize as well to be 39MB on the US/JP eShops. All of them now list the game as being 39MB.
The speculation about the European eShop release having the Game Corner slots removed is also complete bullshit. The US English/Spanish/French releases are identical to the European English/Spanish/French releases.

It's account wide, idiot. You opt into or out of sharing your data when you create a Nintendo account. That said, even if you do opt out, the games still collect your data, they just don't send it.
>>58994866
Yes, but that was the only thing that was fixed in those versions. It works in the English and Japanese versions, because there was never an English or Japanese release that fixed the Nugget Bridge glitch. The 1.0 Switch Release is based on the most recent release for each version of the game.
>>58993771
Different languages take different amounts of text to say the same thing. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So the US/JP Switch versions being 40 MB was a mistake, and they're actually also 39 MB! Thank you so much for sharing this info. My OCD brain can finally take a break from overthinking that fake 1 MB difference LOL. Still, I wonder why they were originally listed as 40 MB, but it must've been an oversight I guess.
One more thing: did they fix all the same glitches in all versions? I imagine they probably just forgot to fix the Nugget Bridge Glitch in US/UK/JP versions then. I hope that's the only difference between games. My main concern is the Roar glitch.

>My main concern is the Roar glitch.
Roar glitch seems to be the only glitch that's fixed, at least as far as I've heard, and it's fixed in at least English, Japanese and German so I'd assume it's fixed in all languages.

>Sure, but it's still kinda crazy that they didn't fix it, when they DID fix it for Emerald. Your roaming Lati won't have shit stats in Emerald
Did Emerald even have this glitch to begin with? Maybe it was never a glitch in Emerald so they didn't need to fix anything

Do people really give a shit about the telemetry thing? I really couldn't give a shit if Game Freak knows Im using Hitmonchan on my console I use for gaming and only gaming.
>>58999423
Basically the bug is that they fucked up the way the data for roamers is saved for encounters so it only saves the first 4 or 8 bytes or whatever which is why attack is capped and everything after that is 0. It IS fixed in emerald, and obviously doesn't apply to the eon ticket Lati or colo beasts so normal stats for these mons were always possible and not relevant to simulator play.

It's only for the roaming ones. One of the Latis appears as a static encounter on Southern Island, that one can have any IVs as normal. Using ACE codes in Emerald you can respawn the Latis and re-trigger the selection event, moving the Lati you didn't catch to Southern Island to catch it as a static encounter to avoid the bug.

I hate to break it to you, but every single Nintendo published game since the 3DS has has telemetry in it. Including the VC releases of the Gen 1/2 Pokemon games. They don't use it to ban you, they use it to collect data on how you play the game, and if you opt out of it on an account level, they don't get to see shit.
Take your tin foil hat off, nigga.
