I miss when the lore of Rotom used to be "this creepy one-time encounter poltergeist in a haunted mansion that inhabits inanimate objects to fight against you."
How the fuck did it turn into quirky chungus funny guy who for whatever reason is ubiquitously added to every single person's smart phone and now hoverboard I guess. Like there's just a fucking Pokemon equivalent to Samsung and Apple and they just fucking mass breed Rotom to stuff in their devices or something, and nobody bats a fucking eye. They could at the very least give it new BATTLe forms every now and then if they wanna butcher my poor boy so poorly. Or hell, fucking include it in the regional dex for every fucking game they force it into. You're telling me everyone and their mother walks around with a Rotom in their fucking pocket but you can't find a single one in the wild? Fuck off.
Yokai Watch may have died, but the effect they've had on Pokemon is still felt to this fucking day.

Tangentally related, but the death of the Pokedex as a cool futuristic digital accessory into LOL IT'S A SMARTPHONE SHAPED LIKE ROTOM NOW XD makes me livid as well. We used to have thought put into these designs, now they're all fucking bland. But I guess art reflects reality because we also stopped being creative with gadget designs irl as well since we've optimized to RECTANGLE WITH SCREEN as the penultimate formfactor...
God I miss BUTTONS.

This is sadly the result of a handful of kids (like extremely small amount) getting fucking seizures during the episode Porygon aired in. They were forced to memoryhole Porygon similarly to how Jinx can never ever get a spotlight again. They're still okay with giving them merch and including them in the games, but they can never ever get the spotlight and have mascot level status because of their past controversies. And the topping on the cake was that it wasn't even fucking Porygon that gave kids seizures. IT WAS PIKACHU. PIKACHU WAS THE ONE WHO USED GIGAWATT SEIZURE AND MADE THE SCREEN FLASH RED AND BLUE IN QUICK SUCCESSON. PORYGON HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. THE EPISODE JUST FEATURED PORYGON AND THE POOR GUY TOOK THE FUCKING BLAME FOR PIKACHU.
>YOU DID IT, PIKACHU! ;D

It would have made much more sense lore-wise for Porygon to be retrofitted into every device. One has to wonder why Sliph-Co just gave up after Porygon-2. Were they scared off by the Z glitch and thought the project should be shelved? An artificially made Pokemon is such a cool concept.

I mean, the older Pokedexes got lazier and lazier designs as time went on.
Gen 1 was like book + Game Boy and from there they were always sort of based on the current Nintendo handheld, but we we went from the original Gen 3 Hoenn Dex having a vaguely GBAish shape with a lid, to ORAS literally a GBA with greebles.
And whatever the fuck the Unova dex was supposed to be, always struck me as smartphone-esque.

The smartphone is simply the logical conclusion of the handheld encyclopedic device. Technology caught up with science fiction in other words. The only believable improvement on it would be something like VR goggles or literal brainchips.

rotom has always been a shitty mon. It was designed like a legendary encounter but it's not technically a legendary, but you still can't fucking use it in any of the games themselves because fuck you I guess, we here at gamefreak HATE letting you have a variety of pokemon to take with you on your journey, you'll use the starter, early route bird, designated shillmon, box legendary, lucario, and pikachu every game, and that's fucking it, retard.

the smartphone isn't even the most effective use of its own design principles, it's literally just that we're so used to it. I mean think about how much screen real estate is taken up by the touch interface, how you're almost constantly covering parts of the screen, how it's fiddly to do anything with precision, how tip-tapping away at the keyboard covers parts of the screen and is so inaccurate they have to have two separate layers of autocorrect, one that you can disable and one that they keep in the on-device kb software that you can't actually disable. It's retarded. We'll jump form factors again in the future, and it won't be directly to some silly scifi holograms or brainchips, don't be deceived.

Porygon has the personality of a cardboard, it's failed experiment, only good for neckbeards having fun torturing it by irreversibly glitching it the fuck out

It became Ishihara's favorite Pokemon, that's how. And his vision of Rotom vastly differed from everyone else's.

At least Porygon actually gets used for this in Masters

Blame the changes in a way how Japs interact with electronics.
The way how technology is portrayed in Pokemon always was kinda mirroring how Japan was using technology at the time. This is why in the 90s and early 00s you had all these funky gizmos doing just one thing, computer terminals connected to servers operated by one guy living in a cottage in the middle of nowhere, CRT TVs were everywhere etc.
Nowadays technology is lame and fucking gay because everything is consolidated to handful of devices that look and operate nearly the same. Just few boxes of different size running the same Android OS.
Rotom is literally just Android OS of Pokemon World.

Did you even read what I said? Here I'll trim it down for you:
>how you're almost constantly covering parts of the screen
>how it's fiddly to do anything with precision
>how tip-tapping away at the keyboard covers parts of the screen
this should make it a little easier to understand. If you still struggle with comprehension I'm sure your tard wrangler can read it out loud a few times for you.

I think you're genuinely brain damaged if you think the slight inconvenience of the device needing to pull up a keyboard to type makes it a worse form factor.
Just say you're nostalgic for y2k era tech and futurism and move on.

I hate it so much. It has such weird fucking implications and it doesn't even really make sense. If there's anything good about Masters it's that they use porygon which is basically tailor made for that kind of thing if they MUST use a pokemon to sell as a phone.
I just headcanon it out like some other things

To this day I hate Pokemon that have bizarre lore implications
>Rotom phones probably have to stare at their owners watching Youtube on their phones while taking a shit
>Did Cinderace evolve to play soccer, or did people observe Cinderace playing something like soccer and make the game?
>If Rotom works well as a phone OS, then why does Porygon exist?
>Is Jynx's dress part of its body?
>Why does the Rotom dex in Alola never shut the fuck up?
I'm sure I could think of more

Every source I’ve seen says exeggutor is his favorite. Was there a more recent interview that says otherwise?

Couldn't stand how Rotom is constantly begging for your attention, gives horny reactions when you interact with it, and pouts when you ignore it. Like a literal child that is trying to distract you constantly from what you'd rather be doing. What a garbage feature.
