Currently trying to get Pokemon to go to the island with the gym on it. I have a trade counter, multiple habitats and houses, and an about 7 or 8 Pokemon currently living on it. Finally got Misdreavus to go to the trade counter today, then asked it to take me to their house. They took the lift connecting it and the Silph Co island. Then floated over to the lift connecting next to Tinkaton’s original home and the main island. There is a lift connecting Silph and the Poké Center with road all the way to it. Why are they so dumb?

I had a community box that didn't really have the fire types making bricks even though I had it right in front of their house. I took the community box away since it wasn't working and put it next to the Litter and Gather mons, and now the fire types decide it's the perfect time to be on the clock and making me bricks when I need squishy clay.

You put things inside like clay or small logs and supposedly if a Pokemon with an ability that matches the goods inside like Chop for logs or Burn for clay, they will process it like bricks and lumber. It has to be placed in their habitat which you can check with clicking the right stick. If a Pokemon with Gather has the community box by their habitat they'll pick stuff up around the area they roam and put it in box.

the closest you can get is replacing blocks with osmething like sand or ash, then rolling them up as graveler. If you're doing that, though, then you're better off making a single potato hamburg steak and a bunch of normal ones.
As long as your yellow stamina bar doesn't run out, you can top it up with lesser food and it'll keep the full power of the high-tier food that you originally ate.

I had porygon on the roof and it never left its home. I cant remember if Alakazam is on the roof or 4th floor but he manages to fly down to the pkmn center all the time to sell his wares. Not really interacting though since he'll go back to the tower right after.

If a pokedex entry doesn't specify whether that pokemon likes light or darkness does that mean they don't have a preference or do pokemon prefer some light by default?

I know this ceases to really matter after completing your Pokedex, but I hope in an update/dlc/sequel they make it so that if you right click in an empty habitat it actually opens the habitat dex entry for it so you can see what all you're missing and double check if you need a specific time/weather for things. Feels awkward to sift through the menu looking for it when I can't remember if I got everything for that habitat type or not.

If a pokemon already appeared in a habitat, will that habitat be less likely to generate a new encounter? I feel like I’ll have a rare spawn super fast sometimes but the second, more common spawn takes forever after I’ve moved the furst out. Feels like I would be better off building a copy of the same habitat instead of trying to keep my areas compact.

Have you fed each pokemon a cooked meal in their favourite flavour?

Fly around as magnemite looking for the glowing rocks, preferably at night. You can also bring a flying pokemon with search and a dowsing machine, but I find it to be unnecessary. It might just be anecdotal, but it seems to be much harder to find them after the first couple slates each day so I stopped trying to farm them and instead just dig up 2 each day and then stop
>>
>>59126938
Feed Snorlax bitter food (potato is the lowest level version, bitter hamburg steak is the highest level version), grab a flying pokemon with search, grab some food they like because they're little bitches that give up at least once a map, and use the dowsing machine on every map until it gives up. There's a bunch of glowing blocks that are hidden below the surface so searching is actually necessary to speed up the process.
Repeat every day until you get all the slates.

So you have multiple ways to pick up their traces and make them spawn. Also the easier habitats tend to be shared with many other pokemon. So there are more specific ones to summon just them in case you want them specifically

Thoughts on building the bird altars at the spots where you pick them up, just leveling each area until it's flat enough to build? It does make sense in its own way. You're choosing an island based around what map's resources you need more of.
>Eevee doll
Wasteland resources
>Pikachu doll
Beach resources
>Clefairy doll
Ridges resources (ash and copper)
>Arcanine doll
Ridges resources (iron, gold, glowing stone)
>Dragonite doll
Skylands resources
>Ditto and Substitute dolls
Random island pulled from the types you've visited previously (so you won't get a Dragonite island until you go there once properly)
When I do large projects or mass landscaping, I go to a dream island and mine out a bunch of dirt and stone for the relevant map.
>>59129250
She's a story-mon, so you only need to build her habitat if you want her on a cloud island

I haven't been using the pre-built block structures simply because I don't like that they all have steps and that the door is on the second level of blocks, but yesterday it ocurred to me that you can dig out one block level below the surrounding terrain, complete the build in that spot, then remove the stairs and fill in that spot to get the door at ground level. Probably was really obvious to everyone else.

I saw people saying japanese bulbasaur talks like a gal so I've been playing the game in japanese, just to see how they all speak.
Now I'm curious about the localization, is it the typical american obsession with being gender neutral or can you tell the gender when characters speak? Because you can most of tne time in japanese. Like, is there any indication in english that the greedent chef is a girl? Or that the slowking is also female? Because they talk like women in game.
>>
>>59130247
The first stage starters are gender neutral which is why the gyaru bulbasaur is a japanese thing, but characters like greedent, venusaur and slowking all do things like call you sweetie and honey and basically do talk like an older auntie type, so it's not hard to see them as female.

There's only 300 Pokemon, so 75 per map if distributed evenly. There's plenty of space for homes for all of them as long as you
A) put some Pokemon in dens/huts
B) aren't picky about building homes underground/in weird out of the way spots
C) build vertically
or some combination of the three
>>
Yeah so after 80 hours I can safely rate this game a 8/10, down from the 9 I thought it was in the first hours.
>Pokémon don't do much of anything
They mostly go around - and in some maps, it's hard to even see them go around. The last story map is a clusterfuck and believe me, I really cleaned all roads and built the lifts where they were supposed to go, and Pokémon simply stay close to their house and never go around. Also, too little Pokémon spawn in the actual map, and in Palette Town this really sucks.
>Building... Is not great.
Building is weird as many pieces are RNG, including some to repair the actual story maps (foundation blocks make no sense, they should have been a environmental level reward). And when you have the blocks, painting them is another pain in the ass, so after a while you simply get fed up and don't paint at all (which is required for some story maps). Lack of blueprints hurts building at scale.
>Making good houses is pointless
Raising environmental levels is too easy, there's not much incentive to build great homes for all Pokémon.
I would love to make multiple train stations in Palette Town, but
1) Pokémon would not use rails effectively
2) Lack of blueprints and the hassle of painting really slows any project down
QoL wise, they can still do much more, and perhaps through patches they will. Gameplay wise, they should have leaned into the town management aspect more, probably. Or improve the relationship aspect with Pokémon, for example rewarding the player with a project when you max out the friendship with a Pokémon + they live in an awesome house.
The game needs more game meat to it. It's sad because you can see that the bones are there, nostalgia hits, but it's not quite enough to make this an excellent game.

you should do the dens and huts anyways, littermon don't need to be loaded in to do their job, and a lot of mon like bulldoze and build, you don't need wandering around the overworld.
putting them in dens keeps them from taking up load in slots because they'll be in their separate load zone house a lot of the time.

The last two areas are more fun imo.

Nothing. It's completely random. I did about two months worth of date skipping and still haven't seen the Pokemon that appears here.

Did you build it in Palette?
Spent tonight building a rail system for Skylands, with stations on each of the main three islands, and with in five minutes of placing the last crossing while in the map I had two Pokémon use it. Pretty sure at this point the AI just hates the lifts.

Is it standard to build an underlayer so it doesn't look like it's just floating on water? It's kind of a pain not being able to freely work underwater.

The best solution I've found to placing blocks underwater is to:
>place 2 or 3 blocks (with skill you can do 3)
>transform into lapras while SPAMMING 'B' to return to normal before you float up
>repeat
Once you get the timing down, it's fine. It's not perfect, but it's what works.
The only other thing is that you can use mgnemite and 'ZL' targeting to lower the blocks as low as possible, placing the 3x3 blocks while dipping underwater and then resurfacing before moving three blocks over.

pichu is a peakychu quest unlock. pikachu is palette only.

bleak beach is definitely the low point.

put them in a prefab.

I've noticed sometimes it helps to destroy the habitat and re-place it.

Man. I just went to check a dream island I went to before via pokovisit and found it destroyed, it pained my soul. Someone dug out the area and walled off the pokemon center, pouring water everywhere. I tried to fix what I could but it was truly a nightmare. I don't know if I'll ever open mine up after that. What kind of soulless bastard do you need to be to do such a thing?

do most ghosts want it to be dark? i thought it would be cool to put all the ghost pokemon in that section of the skylands that has all the ruined buildings and leave it mostly untouched, but probably not gonna work if most of them want to be inside
>>
>have no sense of design
>can only make ugly square houses
>can't even align houses properly so cities look like unplanned messes
>house deco is just random shit thrown all over with no thought
It's a curse to enjoy this game and know you're shit at it

I doubt I'll be doing better than that once I get to building. If you enjoy the game then you already won.

I take a lot of inspiration from random creators on tiktok and the like. And by that I mean I copy their creations directly and try to recreate the style for neighboring buildings. As long as there is one really good one and they look vaguely similar the whole area looks a lot better.
