Now tell me guys, just how much have you invested since you started collecting Pokémon cards? I only begun my collection at the end of 2024, and at this point I assume I have bought the equivalent to $4000 in cards, mainly sealed products. My binder is currently at $5000, but after all these months I only have like 20 SIR cards and around 70 IR ones. Should I buy more singles instead of sealed boxes? There's still a ton of cards I want, but I don't trust online websites nor craiglist like vendors. Please give advice!

How the fuck do you get into collecting any cards? My cousin has talked me round to it, not thought about pokemon in over 2 decades but no store near my (UK) has any cards, just empty shelves and theres nothing online. Its easier to just buy singles you want, if you really want packs you'll need to be patient or pay scalpers, you could also look into buying foreign sets online (japanese/chinese/korean) idk if foreign sets have etbs but they certainly have booster boxes.

Got fucked on a card I wasn't even planning on buying today. Guy had this at MP and I just trusted him without looking. Asked another vendor and they told me it was HP. Guy didn't want to redo the deal and acted like kite when I asked him if he would just give me $25 back and I move on. Eventually he said yes to $20 but I still overpaid I think.

TCGplayer is one thing but anytime I go to a show sellers always pull up random websites that have these conveniently high prices when I can get the legit same card for less than half or even a third of the price on ebay.
