This game really is amazing despite its numerous flaws (partly overcome by patches & mods). Only real weakness is how it slows down around chapter 3. The expansion was worked in kinda poorly, you get so much content up to chapter three and then it's just the old vanilla game which feels pretty bare as it is. Chapter 4 is just killing the dragons and that's it, and chapter 5 is next to nothing.

Gothic 2 was perfect, then they fucked the balance up with the expansion pack because of a few raging turbo-retard autists complaining it wasn't hard enough, then it required cheat codes to be playable and fun.

The SOUL meme kinda sucks because you really can feel when devs cared beyond the results of their technical or artistic skill. Its fun playing "shitty games" and seeing creative ideas or obvious labors of love in them that never took off because they weren't critically acclaimed. Sometimes a 6/10 feels like a 10/10 when you take it for what it is.
