You can't deny this is fucking idiotic

I never got past it as a kid. I treated is as a physics puzzle. I didn't try to stand on it and press up or down. Garbage game design.

I'm a zoomer and got past this within 10 seconds, doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out. You can't go left or right, jumping on it doesn't give it enough momentum to go up or down, so you have only one option left.

Millienials had games far harder then the average modern release yet couldn't get past a simple barrel obstacle, pathetic.

*this underage shitpost is fucking idiotic

Yes I can. 4 year old me figured it out almost immediately. There is a dpad, a start button, and 3 buttons that all do the same thing. Jumping clearly doesn't work, and you can't go back, so just try things with the dpad.

>it's another "well, *I* do not share this collective childhood memory because *I'm* a genius and not like you!" thread
great, these are always interesting and fun...
>remember this nasty part of this game? haha man that really kicked our ass when we were kids, huh?
>NO IT WAS FINE YOU'RE FUCKING RETARDED SHUT THE FUCK UP

>Jumping clearly doesn't work
It goes low enough to almost barely let you through. And you have to do the up-down rhythm a few times before the barrel starts to move faster, meaning most people pressed down, saw a tiny reaction, pressed up, saw a tiny reaction, then continued timing their jumps which shows a big reaction and looks like it could work with perfect jump timing and landings.

You can tell the truth, anon. There's no need to lie for clout when nobody knows who you are.

Og sonic is gen X, not milenial

So what you're saying is that it doesn't work. So when I said it clearly doesn't work, you decided to confirm that it in fact, doesn't work.
What's your arguement again?
Furthermore, you run into a gimmick literally the level before that requires you to move a blue platform that you're attached to using the dpad to move left and right. The game has already taught you by the time you get to the barrel that platforms can be controlled with the dpad.

Sonic and Knuckles rearranged level elements from vanilla Sonic 3. Barrel was left entirely intact. Must not have been a problem based on feedback.

Sonic is from 1991, millenials are 1981 to 1996.
>>
>>12422284
It was only a problem for retards like the OP, the barrel is an IQ test that determines if you even deserve to keep playing one of the best sonic games ever made.

You're becoming hysterical.

Sonic 3 is a fine game, you don't need to defend its honor against the only true objective flaw. When you say something "clearly" doesn't work, you mean that it is obviously visibly not working when (as I explained) it very CLEARLY does look like it would work. That's the problem, you see, people kept jumping on it believing they just needed better timing because it CLEARLY gets within pixels of the needed distance downwards to let you pass.

If the barrel reacted to a jump the same way it did to pressing down or up once, people would've figured it out just like you so easily did.

Hysterical? Ok. Bye.
