So what exactly is the point of this? The "Video Game History Foundation" still isn't actually preserving the game, and that guy is probably going to find another way to copyright troll. Also why glaze over the fact he literally had the source code?

>Brandon White is linked to a """""Company""""" called Graceware
>Graceware has been using another company that is part of a UK group to protect the rights of small companies to more or less mass-DMCA Cookie's Bustle on Brandon's behalf (the company does this to fight piracy/mass leaks).
>Brandon/Graceware only has copyright trademarks (which are essentially useless as they have not been approved without a product that's been put out); He has been bullshitting copyright registrations by using a dubious, fully automated website (the article likens it to mailing yourself a copy of Super Mario Bros and then using the envelope to say that you own the copyright to it).
>Said mass DMCAs are sent to the service providers and platforms
>VGHF went to their lawyers and got the company that Brandon/Graceware was using to drop him/them because, when forced to provide evidence that they owned the rights to Cookie's Bustle, they had jackshit.
TL;DR: This entire thing proves how much of a clown show automated DMCAs are

I still say he wanted to dox Classics of Game or some shit, going after everything else was just a bonus
Most others just claim he's an ass mad collector or something, but you gotta have an oddly specific sperg out to do that shit

He won't get very far. This article pinpoints precisely how be was abusing the DMCA system and informs how to identify bullshit DMCA claims and what to do to fight back, and the writer of the article implies that VGHF will escalate into a fullblown lawsuit against Brandon and his representing parties for violating fair use rights if he doesn't fuck off. That's basically what they were going to do against the jeet company that was sending DMCA's in Brandon's behalf if they weren't able to prove they were the legal owners and still continued to file false DMCA claims so they took the easy way out by dumping Brandon and his shell company instead of risking a lawsuit from Frank Cifaldi. If he does the same thing again using another Jeet company it will come under legal scrutiny much faster and they'll be forced to either risk a lawsuit or tell Brandon to take a hike.

Honestly? I don't think he actually gives a shit about Cookie's Bustle. It's more likely he just picked some random abandonware game nobody gave a shit about and decided to see how much information about it he could get taken off the internet. I don't think the game he picked really mattered.
I also think he probably got bored of it at some point and decided to make "has anyone heard of this game? why isn't on the internet anywhere? :(" posts to call attention to what he did, since nobody would have noticed otherwise.

>Web Capio offers “real-time” IP protection services as a frontline defense against piracy and data leaks. By “real-time,” what they mean is that they scrape the web for potentially infringing content and, according to their marketing materials, send out “automated takedown notices.”
>Notably, they have bragged that compared to other takedown services, they do not require the majority of their takedowns to be verified by a human.
1. They're the only major service that could serve massive DMCA takedown requests without requiring sources. Without their services, it's either much more limited, or actual evidence needs to be provided.
2. They are a reputable source that can declare that Brandon White has failed to provide actual evidence proving ownership when requested to provide it. DMCA takedown notices are only valid if issued by the copyright holder, or someone with authorisation.

>this is all automated
Yes, anon. That's why they specifically took the case to the automated service he was using and had them take his entry out of the database. Now he's going to have a much harder time finding another service that will blindly accept his claim. (and these guys are ready to make another formal action if he does)

Yeah, that's odd. The VGHF may not own Tomb Raider III, but it's plausible for them to end up with the source code because of what they do.
Who the hell provided the source code for an obscure Japanese PC game to White?
>>
>>12426065
As the VGHF writers state they don't know but they don't care either because possessing the source code doesn't mean he owns the IP, and they called his bluff by legally challenging the shell company he was using to mass DMCA others online. He failed to provide legal proof of ownership so he was forcibly removed from their database and he's gonna have to get a lot more creative and possibly expose his true identity if he wants to continue his war against coverage of the game. He's a coward and a fraud so I don't count on that happening personally.

Is the game itself even good?

"Brandon White" is a schizophrenic Bulgarian pedophile named Yusup Dalmaz living in Russia because he's wanted in his own country. He's spent the majority of his life vandalizing wikis trying to add fanfiction about how he was responsible for various Japanese games he obviously had nothing to do with including arguing with and threatening the actual creators on social media when they didn't play along with him. In his brain damages fantasy he created Cookie's Bustle and thinks he owns it. Here's a reupload of an expose he falsely reported.

Copyright system is just fucked when it comes to the internet, I remember people finding out you could take down literally any youtube video you didn't like by making a false claim, it got so bad that you'd have a youtube video in your recommended, click on it, only for it to say "Taken down because of Copyright claim by Peter Griffin". Shit was why youtube had been borderline unusable for most serious content creation and also why many people uploaded such things to blip instead.

It's not odd at all. The copyright system is designed to be abused, because ultimately a million false DMCA claims are a small price to pay if it stops even one cent being taken out of the pocket of some rich Jew.
