Owning a Saturn as your only console in the mid 90s probably would've been brutal. The genres are fairly limited, and there are so many jap-only games that you wouldn't have had access to, or even know about. Meanwhile you'd be seeing all these absolute classics coming out on ps1/n64.
But it's also one of those consoles that shines in retrospect because it has so much unique stuff most people probably never played before, so it's fun to go back and discover it in a way that someone getting into something like n64 never can

Say what you will about the ridiculous architecture, but the physical build quality of the Saturn was peak. The system is built like a fucking tank. I've never seen a Saturn have any disc reading issues, unlike all the duds I see when it comes to the ps1, ps2, the goddamn Dreamcast, gamecube, etc. And unlike the ps1 and dc, the laser assembly on the Saturn is also quiet. Ps1 constantly sounds like iis wobbling, and that horrible grinding scraping sound the Dreamcast makes is terrible

Sega should of cancelled the Saturn along with all of the retarded add ons.
Getting a gimped dreamcast by 1996 would of been good enough.
I love halo but Xbox was the worst thing to happen to gaming and we should all be celebrating their exit.

The Saturn was successful early on in Japan, thanks to its superior software.
