This never really gets “epic” like the first game.
What do you think?

I think it's very gay in a homosexual way. Even more than you, Dave.

Basic by-the-numbers Noir, and the gameplay was just a repeat of the first game. 6/10.

I never had a thought: “Wouldn’t it be great to replay MP2?” or “Even though I've just finished that level, I’ll go through it again right now.”

This sums up Remedy’s overall catalog for me. I liked Control and Alan Wake II okay, but I doubt I’ll ever have the desire to replay them.

I found the plot vastly less intriguing

however, "Late Goodbye" is legendary

I dug the ragdoll physics at the time

It's not Dave.

It's some bitch. I never make threads.

I agree with you fake Dave. You bastard.
The first one felt epic.

But I’ve replayed MP1 several times (the last one was three years ago), and I kept redoing some levels again and again.

My Dave wouldn’t phonepost…

This game fucking sucks
Retarded dudebro franchise, just like Halo

heeeeeey Daaaaaaaaaaave

Never heard of anyone calling MP dudebro but now that I think about it Marky Mark was Max on the silver screen....

I've gone back and replayed both games a number of times, they're not very long. I don't get the hateboner this board has for the second game.

Just none of the atmosphere the first has. The apartments in the first game have gags in every room making it have constant things to engage and surprise you. This one was just shallow.

Does that really count when Ludacris was Bravura as well.
>>
>>12427095
I'll have to disagree with you there, I think both of them have plenty of atmosphere.

Cuz it's not a new storyline and just feels like an epilogue to the first one. It's just the survivors on another adventure. The threat level doesn't feel like there's elevation since you begin the game killing cleaners and end the game killing cleaners. They also removed "boss fights".

The story of the first game was more relatable.

the only real problem I have with 2 is the implementation of bullet time, having max sprint around at super speed to the point where he can run right up into the faces of goons and blast them just looks and feels stupid, mechanic jumped the shark which is a serious problem because you use it constantly.
otherwise the supporting story stuff I like fine, the mona storyline is classic noir and they earn it with the brutality of the ending. as far as the gripe about the returning side characters becoming main characters feeling hokey I only really felt that was true of vinny, mona and vlad make sense to build a sequel around.

>max payne 2: fall of max payne
>you now realize they referring to max payne, the series

Max Payne 2's gameplay is a lot better than the first game, that alone makes it more replayable to me, and fun.

The fact I don't have to waste time walking thin line passages while a baby screams in my fucking ear multiple times per playthrough makes the 2nd game better for me. Every one of Max's dream/drug sequences in the 2nd game is far less annoying than those three in the first game.

Once again I must shill the mods for MP2. I don't know if it ever got a Kung-Fu mod like the first game, but there are two mods in particular that really make for fun times. The Punisher mod and the Gun-Kata mod. Not the finished Hall of Mirrors mod that recreates the final battle scene from Equilibrium, the incomplete Gun-Kata mod that just adds the Cleric guns to the game.
The Punisher mod modifies every single gun in the game to be more lethal, do more damage, shoot faster, etc. This increases the difficulty of the entire game on every difficulty level. I played the game to death and I still struggled to pull off a win on the hardest difficulty with this mod. The part where you have to protect Max as Mona required nearly perfect reflexes and memorization of where every enemy was going to come from. This works very well to counteract the bullet-time's neutering effect on the difficulty. For best results unlock the hardest difficulty first, then apply the mod. Play on hardest difficulty, and enjoy the wake-up call. Don't be surprised if you get torn up in the hospital.
The Gun-Kata mod just gives you dual full-auto pistols with 200-round magazines that sends enemies flying, infinite bullet-time, and changes the dodge button to a Gun-Kata button where you do a different Gun-Kata and shoot in different directions depending on which direction you press with it. Just a word of warning, you'll want to turn your sound off before playing. They put in the techno music from the Matrix on full blast whenever bullet-time is active, and it gets annoying fast. Still fun to see just how many enemies you can defeat with Gun-Kata's alone, since you are bulletproof when doing one.
