Discuss all things Div Div
How are you supposed to kill bosses in this game? I'm lvl 30 fighting Moriendor to get the Stone Axe for the Dwarves and he's just stomping me in 2-3 hits as a warrior. I can delay my death by pausing and using health potions, but his hell spikes are ultimately just too much. I was able to kill Josephine with some pausing and being precise, but it seems like I would need to be lvl 50 or so before I would even be viable for Moriendor. I don't have a problem with that, but I understand the game soft caps around 45 just from running out of stuff to kill and quests to do. I had no problem killing the Dwarves on the way, but the boss is just in another league. Is this intended or did something just go wrong with the balancing during development? I love the world, the story, atmosphere, gameplay etc... so far but the bosses are just derailing the game.

Not strictly DivDiv related but why didn't isometric ARPGs ever take off? I'm not talking about loot progression games like Diablo, but actual RPGs with a handcrafted world, plot and quests.
Apart from DD and Sacred, what even is there? Exiled Kingdoms maybe but that's a very basic and clunky phone game.

That was a really funny scene. I love how much stuff there is like that in the game, like the skeletons talking about being skeletons with each other lol.
I guess it depends how strictly you're using the term "isometric" but I think they were relatively popular in the late 90s and the 2000s (although the RTS gold rush was hogging a lot of PC time in that decade). I think of Diablo 1, Diablo LoD, Dungeon Siege 1 and 2, Fate, and Div Div. I played all of these in childhood, except Fate and Div Div, but I'm sure there are others as well. I'm sure with 3D graphics being big and exciting, things like Morrowind, Gothic, and emerging MMOs like Ever Quest were stealing the spot light, too. Maybe some saw isometric as being outdated at that point.

Just remember Prince of Qin as well, but I think that was a pretty niche title. I really liked that one. It's slower than something like D2, but I might try to dig up my old retail CDs to play it once I finish Div Div

Both Balrum and Eschalon are turn based.

Nox
Dungeon Siege
Kult: Heretic Kingdoms
Prince of Qin
Lionheart
Inquisitor
These were somewhat popular back in the 2000's because the publishers were reluctant to greenlight turn-based games. Diablo was so big, many suits genuinely believed turn-based was "too outdated" and frantic clickers were the future lmao, how the tables have turned

i beat that game on hard and it can get quite ridiculous. The best way i found to get stronger is to try and obtain items with 4-5 charm slots, then go to ars magicana in rivertown or to the charm shop in verdistis. then i would quicksave before talking to them, and look at inventory. If they have silver or better vitality( the most important) or stat charm. then i would buy it, go to sleep for like a week or sumthing( might be 3 days im not sure anymore) and repeat till i was fully decked out. 400-500 extra hp per slot makes a gigantic difrence, and extra stats aren't bad either. from what i remeber there was a spell that litearly made items out of thin air so you shouldnt have any money poblems if you get that.

No it's a cute sad alt-styled biological female that I wish I could have as a girlfriend or at least regular sexual partner
But I see she has a "manly" face, which could be simply because of the angle, natural circumstances or, what I wish would be truth in a girl for myself that looks like that, is slightly autistic and thus we would get eachother.
Man I'm lonely.

My last save file, this happened. Is there any way to fix it? I've already set up voodoo2 beforehand, tried verify integrity, tried various resolutions, ran a program that made it a 4GB RAM executable so it can use more memory, but nothing helped. When I run the older save files, it works, but the latest one doesn't.

melee builds are hard mode until you get the stuns skill AND a randomly generated froze-enchanted weapon.
otherwise just get the trap skill and find Scorpion Traps ASAP. those are strong enough to kill early game bosses if you're patient enough.

>are they any good? what I'm in for?
it is basically belgium Diablo 2 with worse optimisation and playtesting. but less randomly generated dungeons. less classes. and the classes don't really matter after early game 'cause all classes can learn all skills/spells.

Yeah. Playing Divine Divinity now and it is junky as fuck.
>Monsters dying but their animation staying stuck and not dropping loot.
>Huge variance in loot stats that tempts savescumming too much.
>The ridiculous idea that monster XP goes down with level but quest XP goes up with level, which kind of makes you want to first kill everything and then return and do all the quests.
>you are extremely likely to kill a dog or cat by accident and then they attack you everywhere
That one is the cherry on top.
Not that it's unplayable, I got kinda hooked, but yeah, weird balancing, jank and polish issues as expected from newbies.

Brehs, help me with DOS2. How do I build a Necromancer?
I'm running Fane in my party but it's very underwhelming. Feels like my whole squad is just 3.5 members because he fails to carry his weight.
He currently has two wands. The mosquito swarm and the sleeping grenade thing are useful to break armor and magic barrier respectively, but when they're on cooldown I just use him to auto attack and it's very weak.
I'm thinking of respeccing him (just started ACT 2) as an unkillable melee fighter instead I guess?
My full party is
>Me as Lohse (Pyro)
>Red Prince (Two handed melee tank)
>Ifan (ranged crossbow)
>Fane (yeahhh).
Also, I'm trying to branch out my pyro build so I wouldn't be as dependent on flame spells. I'm thinking of Hydro just so we have a reliable healer in the team, but I think the water spells like rain will clash with my flame AOE spells. Maybe Aero or Geo?

that is the way to minmax.

no you whack them too for free XP!

I indeed fell for the temptation but it probably fucks up the overall feel of the game. Also I forgot to clean out sewers before the forest so when I returned I didn't get XP from spiders there.
Well, you can farm XP (and even loot) by resurrecting monsters, so it turns out that autism was not necessary.

>forgot to clean out sewers before the forest so when I returned I didn't get XP from spiders there.
2bad. but XP probably not that important unless you play as a mage/archer-mage and need all the skill/spell levels you can get. once you're strong enough to survive the elf forest, you're probably good enough to make it to endgame.
more important to loot all the containers to find the best weapons/armor and orbs. i think someone else already mentioned that with the right orbs you can increase your HP by a high margin; enough to tank all fights. but playing as an actual archer or melee warrior, you should also need some orbs for STR/DEX. even after you found a froze-effect sword or bow. you still need fairly high DEX to hit stuff with your weapon of choice IF you didn't decide to fight like a mage.
>>
Well, for most of the game you don't find the actually important orbs/charms, they only drop from endgame monsters.
I found I only get the gold charms from the "elite orc" monsters that are in the bottom right corner orc camp. I didn't want to extensively savescum every one to drop them so I used the ressurect exploit and keeping a supply alive there.
I intended to put mana, vitality, STR, DEX charm in each piece of gear and use the fifth slot for resistances. I guess putting vitality charms in every slot would make you nigh unkillable, but feels a bit weird.

Suckingly, the 3D at that time was still super ass. Pointy triangular Lara tits and so on, so prerendered sprite-based graphics would provide for much nice games if it was not stuck to 640x480 and tiny figures model.
