It's honestly extremely cool; reminds me of OG Runescape's development. I wish they added more endgame content not that I ever did any of that shit back in the day as a literal child just coming from PoE uber bosses just seem so paltry in comparison.
>>3925843
You still need a BNet account for steam so people are buttmad.
>>3925815
It isn't necessarily vandilization. I think just the concept an ancient fucking game can get updates in the modern day and kept alive is extremely cool. Like the Age of Empires II developers still adding new nations and the like and did so respectfully to the original so even the oldschool fans still like it. Blizzard is an extremely gay company (not sexually for once) so I don't doubt they'll add some cosmetic microtransaction things to this game which to me is totally fine. I think an alternate universe where we still get Diablo 2 content in 2026 and beyond and it becomes a mainstream competitor to PoE sounds so fucking funny man, but I doubt Blizzard is going to actually put in the effort to do leagues and major content drops and so on without killing the game for no reason. Boomers will bitch about it either way so who cares.

Blue hair fag, lel.
Dislike the dlc
>too expensive for qol patch
>op class, magic damage, wtf
>no new act or repaired act 4 or more quests in act 1-5
>no new story
>new items and runes aren't needed
>collect all runes to have a golden town portal, the grind started
>>3925724
Hell is already in d2/r, comes after nightmare.

>I can't believe that they fucked with their color and board to insert some trendy, edgy zoomlock into their near 30 year old game and totally ruin the vibe of it. The warlock class has a purple color scheme does this.

The class seems very generic in aesthetic, no matter what they have equipped they are always in the same pose with a floating weapon and all of their armor options just look like one robe with shoulder pads.
This is like taking the necro and draining him of his charm and cool bone aesthetic before slapping on a sprinkling of the sorceress/sorcerer.
Naturally the class will be overpowered at launch to encourage purchases:
>Oops, we need time to balance it! We only had 25 years!
I would have preferred if they fleshed out Act 4 or done anything to add new content in where your character goes and who they fight. Instead they are going with the super popular China insect method where they just add bigger numbers to existing content.
I'm just not gonna buy it.
>But they won't make more content if you don't buy it!
I hope they stop. I've been enjoying this game for 25 years the way it was, I don't want them to Reforge it down the shitter, I don't want them to make new Diablo games and I don't want them to stay in business.
Pozzed expansion for a cucked new generation of paypigs.

It's atrocious that they didn't use the chance to fix act 4, add one quest per act, and a new final act. Most of the stuff they are adding neither fits d2/r, nor is it fun, just addicting number go up. Lame.

I guess you can't really ruin diablo 2, but I'd prefer it if they didn't mess with old games.
Terrifying precedence for adding wc3 and sc1 expansions.
Part of me would hope for Blizzard to cease to be, but then someone else would pick up the IP and just do the same thing.

Second anon is correct. The thing you guys needs to stop to realize is that games take way longer to produce today than they did before. Think for a minute about how many lines of code there are. Think about all of the moving parts. They take years to produce, sometimes almost a decade for tripe A games.
Businesses have to survive to bring you new content so in the interim they field projects like this to other staff, probably junior developers, interns, new recruits or what have you in order to help get their feet wet in the industry.
They know there is a fanbase craving more content and so what they do it pitch ideas for awhile, see what people talk about wanting more/less of, changes, additions, and then go forward on a project. They don't always hit the mark and that's normal. They do the best they can with the information they have. It's not feasible to expect them to add whole new acts, but little touches like this keep the players sated for the moment and let them test things, possibly things they will utilize in later games.
I like that they also brought Diablo II to Steam, easier to find people to play with. It's a steep price for now ($40) so I will wait for a sale most likely, but I wouldn't mind trying out the Warlock class and doing another run or two, especially if I can get someone to do it with me.

Yeah because they're overly bloated pieces of shit that rely on hyper advanced graphics that makes your PC scream instead of more modest projects that have good art direction.

Genuinely retarded corporate apologist retard. Diablo 1 was made on less than 1 mil, I believe they got a $300k budget from Blizz after they greenlit the game from Concord.
With 300k they were able to produce 5 tilesets (including the town), around 16 enemies, 3 classes, etc.
But you need several million dollars to put another act in Diablo 2, where these things are made in an identical workflow (rendering 3d models by script into sprite sheets at a defined palette) where the numbers and behavior of new monsters is so trivial even modders can do it solo for free.
>B-but high fidelity remaster assets
Retarded they couldn't even be bothered to render him into classic sprites.
>THEY CANT PUT HIM IN CLASSIC BECAUSE OF THE PURPLE THERES NO PURPLE!!!
Picrel there has always been purple do remaster fags even play videogames or just suck circumcized cock

>"Expansion"
Recession indicator.
Not dropping $30 to unlock Cashgrab Faglock
Few people would.
They'll try it out, "neat", then go back to LOD so they can find games.

I'm honestly kinda torn on it. I don't think the class in a vacuum is badly designed, but it feels like it was designed in a vacuum with no input from how the rest of the game exists mechanically. Like why is my lvl 1 summon better than basically anything the necro can summon prior to a jacked up iron golem? Why does he just get free lower requirements on weapons without that being a magic affinity like everyone else has? Those are 2 of many things that just baffle me. This class would be OP in D3, let alone D2.

>>3927651
I feel like there's a much obvious answer that I don't know why they aren't saying it: makes sprites and making 3d models are very different artistic skillsets and it's not like Blizz North simply took the original models, through them in 3D Studio Max, then called it a day, they did work on them after. You'd probably have to hire someone who specifically knows how to make late 90s sprites to do it, which is pretty much just the guys at Beamdog these days.

You don't understand how well documented and easy the process is.
Phil Shenk, art director for d2, has explained in enormous detail their workflow.
Try it. This same workflow has been used to add pretty convincing sprites to mods, done by people for free in their spare time rather than paid professionals working on it every day.
There was very little "pixel over" or touch up works on D2, you're thinking of D1 or other prerendered games like AoE. The sprites do have the palette applied after rendering, but nobody was hand painting these chopped up compartmented frames.

Games shouldn't take longer.
More expensive, sure, inflation's a bitch, some of the new technology is more expensive at a baseline, and this work should be paid more than it is. But not take longer. If anything, it should take less time, because the tech exists to make bar-filling activities like file transfers ect take a few minutes instead of overnight, and the existence of group chats means meetings no longer need the 10 minutes on either side for people to move and get situated.
What makes it take longer is a thousand middle men all needing their balls tickled before an idea can move, pointless graphical bloat nobody asked for, and shitcode enforced upon the industry by people selling a worse product as a necessity.
MAYBE spend an extra year if you want to make something graphically impressive. Do not fucking spend 4 months modeling 1200 types of bush, nobody gives a shit.

Face it the world of warcraft tranny edition people just added a class to diablo 2 to milk addiction through requiring specialized gear for a new character while messing up the careful balance of a 25 year old classic.
Just like in wow they will remove all the charm over time. Easter eggs, attire, pronouns, quest dialog, sexuality unless its the tranny or butt kind. All trashed because the woke tranny might take offense to anything normal 20 years ago.
Just like warcraft 3 they will reforge it into something worse nobody wants and prevent ever enjoying the original again through a blizzard launcher only letting you install the garbage. Or overwatch replaced by overwatch 2 renamed to overwatch erasing the existence of original overwatch.
Then in typical fashion take strong legal action against anyone trying to create a method of enjoying the original.
You must accept what you liked is gone or LAWSUIT!
Just distance yourself from Blizzard if you don't want heartbreak. Anything they ever do you like will become only an inaccessible memory.

I remember there used to be a D1 and D2 kinda-general in >>>/vr/ years ago, but it seems to have died.
Kinda sad desu.
There was >>11706481 too, a general for classic Blizzard games.
There's no way the last iteration of it was made in 2025, right? It's just Warosu being shitty... right?
>>
The game is easy and dumb even on p8. And thats with a Sorceress. I don't remember it being that way in 2000. The Warlock is even-easier-mode.
Even the boss in Act 1 was just a fight of attrition with potions.
I think I hate this game.
