So it’s been a while since this game was released, what do you think of it? Is it a good remake?

Would you recommend this version or WotL?

The PSX original. What is with all these dumb questions lately?
>>

The ivalice chronicles is fine enough version, wotl is good too but runs like ass when you use any spells. PS1 version is also alright.
Unfortunately there is no "definitive" version of the game, you just have to eye the traits of all of them and check which one excites you the most.

Unless you value voice acting at the point where you can't play without it, I would just play the PS1 version. For whatever small QoL changes the remake brings, it also changes things for the worse. Not that the versions are much different in any significant way.
Then there is the PSP version which has some extra content but it's nothing too good to pass. It's more fun as a replay version I think, with some mods to fix the slowdown issues.

Psx on pc is imho superior, plenty of mods and hacks, too

Everytime.
Are there any trpg coming out or do I have to play fell seal forever? Tried menace and it's not my cup of tea.

Are the sound effects fucked in this new release? I haven't checked.
>>
>>3933042
They aren't fucked but they still don't sound as good as the original.

Cut content bad. The Wotl phone version is the best since it gives you all the extra weapons without the multiplayer mode
>>
There is little reason to not play a modded PS1 version. Either a mod that adds WotL content or your own tweaked version.

>own tweaked version.
I doubt many players can hack fft
>>
>>3933377
There is an editor that's very easy to use to change around things involving numbers, chance % or enemy formations and equipment.
>>
>>3933430
Really? Even custom content (gear, characters, events). I know there are some new campaigns, but I haven't tried them, yet. Most seem rather gamey, like solid snake and link joining forces aso.
>>
>>3933443
No, not custom stuff, that's more involved. Things like assembly hacks and custom event scripting are hard. Anything adding new content is hard in general. But you can tweak things around with the editor. Changing a Knight's Linen Cloth into proper armor isn't hard to do, or changing stat growths, weapon stats and effects, item-find luck % etc etc.

Neat! Enough to justify a new playthrough. Maybe even a solo run without tedious leveling.

Like what?

The game assumes everyone will always play it voiced with no option other than a simple voice mute:
- No option to turn off the voices and keep the text scrolling sfx and non-moving portraits
- Removed ability quote text for generics

- Battle sfx still sound worse (even the camera sounds bad)
- Unit management UI removed options like unequipping everything from a unit
- New dialogue during battles ranges from nothing to actually terrible in the case of Agrias vs Gafgarion
- Males equipping ribbons takes away from Cloud's reference and makes female melee units obsolete

Those are some of the few I noticed just from following its release.

>Males equipping ribbons
What the fuck, really?
>>
>>3938524
Yeah everyone's end game team is just Cid and Beo with stacked with ribbons or chantage.
>>
>>3938524
That's in line with the rest of the series. Complaining about it is stupid.
>>
>>3938740
Yeah let's normalize what made FFT unique. I wish they completely cut gender stat differences and jobs too, it should just be a sprite change really. Retarded post, I'll complain about cool things being lost.

This is a deal breaker for me.

Making retarded changes no one asked for or wanted is the #1 reason to skip remasters like this. Shows a lack of respect for the source material, and usually a lack of critical thinking by the devs.
I fucking loved FFT when it came out and in a sane world this would’ve easily been a day one purchase for me at full price. Instead, fuck them and I’ll just emulate the PSX original if I ever feel like playing it again.

>retarded changes no one asked for or wanted
That applies to the original because it changed the precedent to begin with. Changing it to be in line with the rest of the series is good.
>>
>>3938842
>what made FFT unique
Nothing about FFT is unique though.
>>
>>3939144
No previous game in the series had generic units that could be either male or female, which is why there was never equipment that was restricted by sex.
>>
>>3939166
>there was never equipment that was restricted by sex
You might want to double check that.
>>
>>3939146
Then even less than nothing is in the remake. You're arguing nonsense as per usual.
