If it's for phones, I'm gonna freak
>>

Nope. Console game. Bamco isn't even involved this time.
>To commemorate this milestone, we are pleased to announce the start of development for a completely new home console game titled **.hack//Z.E.R.O.**
>This title will be released as a self-published project, with CyberConnect2 handling everything from planning, development, to sales in-house.

I'm so happy rn
>>
>>3928663
i never even considered this possibility. that's cool.
>>
Hard to say, but it looks like they may be taking more inspiration from GU than the originals.
>>
>>3928663
ps2 era slop franchise comes back? ZzZzZzZ....

As long as I do not have to pass out pamphlets or do an arena questline 3 times.

Excited to see what CC2 comes up with on their own. Last Recode wasn't exactly great but Fuga renewed my faith that they still know how to make good games
>>
>>3928667
>Bamco isn't even involved
thank god for that, was skeptical at first especially during 20fps duel scene
don't want to see alphabets and brocolli haircuts in my mmo sim

>Brought back everyone who worked on the series
>All Manager positions
>Game Design Manager's only worked on background art for anime
Yeah nothing good's gonna' come out of this and it'll just end up hollow, missing the point on what made the older games special. Even the character design's shit mostly appealing to modern anime/fashion trends. All the old hats aren't doing any of the creative work themselves and are just making sure all the youngsters doing most of the legwork to put out a competent, finished product.
People are happy the series is "back", but that doesn't necessarily mean it'll be "good". Combat's likely going to play like all those shitty Naruto/Shounenshit arena fighters Banco keeps shitting out.

I wish they'd just remastered IMOQ with QoL features or even revamp the combat to play more like Xenoblade instead of whatever this reboot's gonna' be.
>>
>>3929034
Its hard to take your opinion seriously when you think Xenoblade has good combat.
>>
>>3929034
Dot hack was never meant to be your pathetic old loser escapism vehicle to pretend youre in middle school in 2003 forever. It was the opposite of that.

>Combat's likely going to play like all those shitty Naruto/Shounenshit arena fighters Banco keeps shitting out.
bamco isn't involved in the game. only cc2
>>

>play more like Xenoblade
>>
>>3928667
Holy shit, we might get a kino level .hack game since those punks aren't involved.
>>
glad the low semen meter is still filtering plebs on the vidya kiseki board.
>>
I just hope there will be automatic save because while playing G.U I forgot to save progress, and had to do the same level two times, it was so depressing I stopped playing the game. (I'm at part three of the game)
>>
Hope they go for the more eerie style of the originals and not fully shonen like GU.
>>
>>3929034
>>3928663
I hope that they manage to at least get the sovl of the vaguely middle eastern inspired 90/00's anime fantasy aethetic.
>>
>>3936536
It was celtic inspired, not middle eastern

Really?

I guess it's just because these two specifically always reminded me of the character designs in FF:T(A) which I've always associated with the middle east. More specifically the Mediterranean area around the Levant.

this kind of style?

It's too late. dothack was made in an era where the internet just inherently worked differently from how it does now, the only way it would work is to be intentionally anachronistic.
>>
>>3937125
No, its clearly going to be a critique of the current state of the internet
>>
>>3937127
Which would make it not be dothack anymore, that setting was drenched in the BBS-era internet culture.
>>
>>3936633
Yeah. Not exactly what I think of when I think Celtic. But maybe I'm wrong. idk. Kinda looks like Instanbul to me.

>>3937125
>the only way it would work is to be intentionally anachronistic.
I would be down.

I maintain the 90's and early 2000's is the best time period for any setting remotely modern.
>>
I'm gonna watch the signs anime and replay the quadrilogy
>>
>>3937128
The setting was and is our world 20 minutes in the future, not some magical place stuck in time. You are obviously too stupid even for such a simple story.
>>
>>3937152
well you said you wanted to know if theres middle east/orient inspiration, I showed you one
>>
>>3937286
Oh, no, I meant in the new game they're working on. I know it was a source of visual inspiration for the rest of the series. I'm just hoping it stays that way.
>>
is the original quadrilogy good
>>
>>3937793
No, nothing is good, just don't do anything.

It's got charm, but it definitely has not aged well in comparison to games today. If you have the mindset and look past, and maybe appreciate its age, then might be something of worth,
>>
I just finished Mutation and I'll be doing the dvd dungeon after watching the second episode of liminality, it really picked up at the end even if some things felt like a letdown in the middle like Phase 2 and Cubia. they just didn't have the same buildup as Skeith so it felt more like something that just kind of happened, the music didnt really stick with me either, Phase 3 also felt like it happened a bit too early but I'll blame that one on me ignoring a few side quests which I clearly shouldnt have done (no minimap sucks ass and I was overleveled for them)
I might farm a few more cores but I think im pretty much done with this disc. Not sure about grunties and trades because I don't want to burn myself out for doing too much side stuff.

Marlo is cool and Moonstone is a funny guy, but I didn't really care much for everyone else introduced here, I hope I don't start caring less and less about the new companions you meet in the other discs.

/end blog
>>
>>3937793
Its dogshit by nearly every metric. But I still like it.
>>
>>3937845
I'd suggest just looking up how many cores you have to farm, just to avoid having to do it later. It's a pain in the ass trying to get low level cores later
>>
>>3937793
She's mid but I like her. Hard to go back though after playing Fragment where you can hotkey skills and items and not have to pause every time. I only want a remaster of the original games to add that feature in.
>>
Apparently the .hack//Sign DVD cases had codes on the back that unlocked items in the games.
Anyone have those or know where I can get them?
>>
>>3937793
The actual gameplay was dated in its own time, but some of it is still kind of neat like the random dungeons. It's carried hard by the atmosphere and setting, and 4 games is a lot of time to be carried. Probably the best example of a game that could benefit from a remake/remaster I can think of.
>>3938305
Usually gamefaqs is a time capsule for that shit. Every once in a while searching for something like that will take me to one of those
old websites for "cheats" or whatever too.
Either way there's no chance it would be hard
to find.

Damn this sounds promising. I loved GU as a teen.

So I take it the codes in question are the area keywords on the back? I wonder if the items are really anything special or if they're just some nice gear.

>So I take it the codes in question are the area keywords on the back?
given how it was described, that seems to be the case
>I wonder if the items are really anything special or if they're just some nice gear.
I've heard it's exclusive items, no idea if they're any good
