how is checking which attack has the best dps before spamming whatever button combination causes it "difficult"? it's just busywork. it's like if the game flashed 5 numbers on screen before each attack and you were tasked to pick the highest one, the decision is obvious the first time and automatic every subsequent time. even the devs know this is a waste of everyone's time and so they let you automate it with one checkbox

It reads like ragebait but I'll still reply:
Skyrim is dumbed down compared to Morrowind because statistics have less of impact in your experience. Sure, you may only be able to attack in Morrowind but the difference between Axe 100 and Axe 10 is way more than between attacking and blocking in Skyrim. You need to specialize in order to do any meaningful amount of damage (or damage at all) to an enemy, not to mention how crafting spells gives you a big set of options to explore and fight compared to Skyrim's basic-ass magic system.
