Pretty decent game overall I'm glad I didn't listen to the haters and skip this.

That's a weird way to say that the game is full of obviously overpowered choices that break it wide open
Such as: "making literally anyone on your team a Beast Master or Shieldbearer at any point" and the few ways the game has to throw wrenches at the player are entirely unpredictable and don't make sense for the enemy that does them, like the Oracle asterisks dropping 4 Bomb Arm consumables on your team in one round.
And when they get blindsided, the player just goes back to the obviously unbalanced stuff like the aforementioned Shieldbearer instead of messing around with more novel set ups they find interesting.

Your level of straw manning and misrepresentation of the complains about the game and it's systems is making you sound like a FF8 defender right now.

Check out the steam reviews it's full of people bitching about the difficulty.

>bravely default

What does this combination of words even mean?

Making the risky choice to be conventional. In game it means sticking to your first plan even though it seems illogical and references the gameplay system where you store turns by defending (called defaulting) as brave points which you can spend to take multiple turns at once.
Meta it means square was taking a risk and making a standard snes style jrpg, albeit a very meta one.

To allow for Braev Lee's subtle punny name.

when bosses list all of their counters ONCE at the start of the fight and there is no way to check them, it's not good game design

I thought it was okay
