Why are the stories in CRPGs usually so fucking trash? I know people meme on the whole "kill god" ending but they 100% go in WAY more interesting directions with their stories and worlds.
CRPGs, while having some quality writing, have just straight up fucking awful stories in the grand scheme of things.
Now I get a lot of them give you the freedom and its basically your story, but even with that argument shouldn't the outcomes of that story you shape actually be you know fucking good and not bottom of the barrel dogshit?

So in CRPGs usually what I hate is they do give a lot of depth and attention to I things making sense and there being history, I would say yes things as a whole are more logical than say the usual JRPG world.
The issue is it feels like there is never proper depth, satisfying character arcs and moments that actually stick with you properly like think of it like this: if I ask you to name iconic moments from a set of JRPGs then CRPGs, you would legit struggle with CRPGs because a lot of it is honestly a fucking blur and just not that interesting.

As a rule, most games have mediocre writing and stories. The more they focus on the writing and story, the shittier they get, with a few notable exceptions. Also your picrel has Anachronox which is a
JRPG. There’s a few other games on there I wouldn’t call really CRPGs either

People don't realise the Japanese are a very emotional people (when you get to know them). That's why their stories often have a somber note too them. Meanwhile the west was built on Catholicism + Greek Philosophy and we had a shit tonne of wars with each other so our stories are more stoic and epic.

I find a lot of Japanese-created stories naive and superficial in a somewhat cringy way.
OTOH, I really don't like how way too many Western RPG stories fall into a similar trope. Only that, instead of "kill god", it's "save da werld". Very few Western RPG stories present your character(s) as some random niggachu(s) just trying to keep on keeping on. One of the rare examples is Dark Sun. Sure, you beat the shit out of Tectuktitlay's army, but that makes 0 difference. Athas is still a slowly dying dustball, the sorcerer kings still are way stronger than your band of randos, all you manage to do is carve out a small corner for yourself.

You don't have to look further than the target demographic. Transgender people are inherently soulless golems, OP.
Its like that chart from when they surveyed a bit ago the demographics of CRPGs, literally 80% are trans so of course the stories and characters will be empty.

Martin Septim's death
Irenicus kidnapping Imoen and you having to go through his madmen asylum to rescue her
Anders blowing up the city for his terrorist manifesto

idk Marius' monologues live as rent-free in my head as Elidibus' lines in 5.3. I feel like Japanese games do tend to do a better job of delivering on emotional highpoints that western games on average, but western stories often play around with more interesting ideas. Morrowind is a good example, the setting and politics are engrossing, though they illicit little emotion from me. Then you have the odd case of a game like Cyberpunk 2077 which manage to do both these things well, but is mediocre in terms of actual gameplay.

Not really. Off the top of my head:
Darth Revan revelation.
Realizing that your pre-amnesia incarnation was a double agent for both Orakur and Erebor.
Deducing who Koveras is before it's spelled out for you.
Finding out who the Dark Savant was all along.
Confronting Dagoth Ur and Almalexia.
Failing to save your mother from "the butcher of Kirkwall". Anderson blowing up the chantry.
Speaking of Dragon Age, both Grey Warden initiations in Origins. As well as learning why Dark Spawn kidnap women.
Varnhold's Vanishing crow paranoia.
Firkraag and Demogorgon fights.
Being forced to murder Horrendus who acted as your ally on other characters.

Heart of stone
On a serious note, I like the transformation from nwah to nerevarine, depending on roleplay. Leaving the settled cities for the ashlands can be something else too.

I have serious doubts about the veracity of that chart, but assuming it is true: Trannies will attach to anything that lets them disconnect themselves from reality, which CRPGs are great at because of their world-building, they don't care about what's actually inside. It's not about soul vs soulless, it's about general preferences.
