The "official" /vst/ Troubleshooter tournament is over.
We couldn't play the last match due to severe timezone differences and overall schedule problems, but it wasn't a game that decided any potential outcomes, so I guess it's okay to wrap it up at this point.
The overall board at the end looks like this (sorted by number of wins):
Sneed'sFeed'nSeed: 4 victories, 0 losses
Depression: 2 victories, 2 losses
99str_1dex_1int: 2 victories, 2 losses
Troublescooter: 1 victory, 2 losses
Tongs: 0 victories, 3 losses
Overall, as the person that organized the whole thing initially, I feel somewhat displeased with the result. Scheduling issues, the lack of participants, steamrolls making the games unfun for certain players, etc. Some of which are definitely on me - deciding to roll with the tournament during the holiday season was probably not the best idea, since people probably prefer to spend time with their family instead of playing videogames; or giving people more time to prepare teams.Of course, my main goal was to generate interest in Troubleshooter's PVP - even if that interest is localized within /vst/. I hope I could succeed in that regard, at least.
I've recorded most of my games, but I don't think any moments stand out as particularly fun to be posted. I'll skim some more and maybe post some webms or something if i find anything worthy.
To anons that participated - please, share your opinions and feedback! I really want to hear what if other participants had fun while playing and ideas on what could be improved in the future if we decide to host another one
Last, but not least - with my newfound rights as the tournament's winner I pronounce Alisa as best girl.
Thanks to all anons who participated and a Happy New Year!

Why did Dandylion retweet that artwork on xitter?
>>
>>2317816
This is a niche game and PvP isn't the main focus so I think its neat that there was even a tournament to begin with. There's not really much that can be done about scheduling issues and small player pool unless someone here can somehow control timezones and make the game more popular.
I'll try to make it to the next tournament if there is one. I think it would be better if there was a longer time for people to schedule and play their matches, like have the whole tournament take place over the course of a month so people can pick a weekend to play. Better communication would help to, maybe people should post their timezone and what hours they can play instead of waiting next to Maximillion and Sam for someone else to log on.

Is there any way to edit a save from offline to online compatable?? I would have joined but I only had an offline save on my game.
>>
>>2318008
I don't think the game even stores online saves locally so I doubt it. I had an online file I just built up on the wrong server so I wasn't feeling up to doing another one.
>>
>>2318008
>Is there any way to edit a save from offline to online compatable?
There's no way any sensible game dev would allow that since it gives an easy means for people to slip in cheated savefiles or corrupted ones to deliberately bug the game out. It's just something that can't be allowed for multiplayer fairness or potentially security reasons.

>>2318009
>I had an online file I just built up on the wrong server so I wasn't feeling up to doing another one.
Several people in the tournament had PvP-ready saves on multiple servers so maybe there should've been a way to take advantage of that. With the format of the completed tournament, everyone had to have a save on the same server (EU) since everyone was supposed to have a round against each other, but if future tournaments have a different format then it might be possible to accommodate people who don't have saves on the "main" server.

This game having a lot of content to get through is nice but unfortunately it's a downside for when someone just wants to get a PvP-ready save on a server. I'm not even sure if the NG+ option that let you start with all your unlocked masteries (A Parallel World) even works across servers. If making cross-server saves was possible or just not difficult than I'm sure Dandylion would've implemented it already.

yeah it was pretty fun mate, that was the most pvp i've played since before crimson crow, i'm game to do it all again despite being the designated jobber this tournament
didn't record anything but favourite moment was a WK duel with Depression
can't do much about timezone bullshit
my feedback is to suggest an informal ban list of things that are unfun/tedious to play against for everyone ~
Taunt and Provoking Strike
Freeze
Immortality
capturing and reinforcements ofc
and suggest that strong pvp players also refrain from some of the more overpowered stuff ~
Pre-Heating
Tenacious Barbarian Warrior
Hide

While i was not participating. From what i gathered it was fine for what it is: Friendly multiplayer skirmishes for the sake of it. Obviously some of you have multiple thousands of hours in the game and others will be on a more casual levels. There are not enough Troubleshooters players in the world let alone in /vst/ to make a balanced tournament. I might join the next one to be another cannon fodder but i was burnt out by my c/c playthrough and the new PoE2 league sucked me in.
It would be cool if there was a 2v2 player mode so you could balance out the matches a bit via pairings.
>>
>>2317816
I've said as much to you in person, but pretty much the only complaint I had was how messy the scheduling was, especially between timezones.
I enjoyed seeing the teams and playstyles of multiple people in rapid succession. Everyone's teams felt very different to face, and especially how people microed their units varied radically from player to player. Special mention goes to Troublescooter who is far and away the most tactical player I faced.
I'm glad we unofficially banned a bunch of stuff though. Nobody used cancer Hellgate builds, Leton grenades or taunt grenades. Second Heart was uncommon, and I know at least one player did that deliberately despite none of us ruling against it "officially".
The other thing I thought was interesting was how tanky most people's builds are. Troubleshooter has a reputation of being bazooka tag, especially in the late game, but in the tournament we had multiple teams by different players minmaxed out the wazoo and it still took many attacks for a bunch of units to die.
>>
why do they always look so offended when you don't pick them for a joint drill?

It's alright as a piece of music, but its construction is kind of weird for a character theme. The first minute and a half being so different in mood to the rest of the track is going to be strange in cutscenes.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback on the tournament.
Once again, apologies for the messy organization - I hope to do a better job next time, if the interest in this kind of thing holds and new anons decide to participate in further tournaments.
Now, for some interesting stats of the tournament: if my understanding of each match and the teams used in them is correct, then the most used classes were:
>Hunter
>White Knight
>Rogue
All used by 4 out of 5 players. The least used classes were:
>Witch (only used in 1 single matchup in the tournament on Anne)
>Magic Knight
>Alchemist
>Sniper
>Engineer
>Sweeper
>Barbarian Warrior
>Ninja (all of these were used by 1 participant each)
Martial Artist Leton and Battle Mage Irene were also used in a single team each, but these classes altogether, if we include other characters, were more frequent.
The rest are inbetween, showing up in 2-3 teams out of 5.
Overall the most used characters were Giselle, Alisa and Misty - showing up on every single team in any of their classes. The least used character was Bianca, showing up on the team of only 1 participating anon as a Black Mage.
Unfortunately, I can't entirely estimate match lengths correctly outside of my own. The average length based on my own games, was around 30 minutes per match. I don't think any given game extended to over an hour long, though the precedent was there outside of the tournament. The shortest matches that ended up being one-sided sweeps took no longer than 15 minutes.
Also, unrelated, but here's a 400 speed barrier break, finally. I ran a black mask with it, since an anon mentioned it last thread, just to check the numbers - at this speed, you can reliably lower Jiaozhi's (tested on 50V) block to 0.

I think it's interesting how one of Alisa's class is great for solo play but shit for PvP and the other is vice versa. The difference between fighting a bunch of weaker mobs versus fighting a few peer enemies at play. PvP really does add to the game and I'm sad that it's probably not going to be in the sequel.
I was one of the players who wouldn't make it to this tournament but for the next one I hope to use a ninja build that will probably either throw or sweep.

>here's a 400 speed barrier break, finally
she's a fast girl

>>2320480
>>2320483
>i don't remember seeing any drones summoned
>2 players did use drones
That's probably why there weren't many engineers, but hacker Kylie has better AP/AT economy so it's probably just better in PvP regardless. Again, if there's another tournament, I'll try to make use of drones myself, everything recently "clicked" for me when it comes to making drones so I'll be able to bring some good ones out to the field.
>>
>>2320491
It's especially funny to me, since I was the only person to run Barb on the tourney, but my build is a bit different than your usual barb Alisa - and she was my key character and essentially a nuclear option when all else failed. Unfortunately, I've swept through most of my matches and it almost never came down to me actually using her. I did get to test it out in training, so some players did get to see that, at least.
In regards to drones, the two players that ran them used them VERY differently. It's was really cool to see.
>>
>>2320462
>Overall the most used characters were Giselle, Alisa and Misty
Mistybros our wife is so powerful
I'm kinda suprised she was used so much as a rogue. I figured ninja one shot was the pvp meta and rogue would get fucked because player builds have way more accuracy than enemy builds in pve.
>>
>>2320494
>In regards to drones, the two players that ran them used them VERY differently
that makes sense, drones are supposed to be specialized, even moreso than human or animal team members

>>2320497
Misty has a really useful niche as a rogue and the ninja abilities themselves aren't real superb unless you build around specific ones, like you have to build her to be a mage basically if you want to make use of water release.
>>
>>2320252
>I can tell from looking at the character designs for the sequel that it's going to be a big flop.
To be fair to Dandylion, they struck gold with the Abandoned Children character designs. I don't blame them for being unable to come up with ones that are better than what we have now. The main girl is very cute though. I can see the returning characters in BC being more popular than the main cast though.
>It's a shame. Troubleshooter was an enjoyable game.
It still is, no reason why you can't keep playing the first one after the sequel comes out if you don't like it.

>>2320290
The way it sounds like to me is that the two different sections can loop on their own. Other games have done this in their soundtrack, like having a non-combat and combat portion in the same song and the game will just loop between different sections of the song depending on what is happening.
>>
>>2320252
tbf the current game also has some pretty meh visual design for its characters. I was put off by the weird punk rock x tumblr art style but it grew on me. It will probably be the same case in the sequel where everyone dislikes it at first but comes to like it later on.
>>
>>2320462
>at this speed, you can reliably lower Jiaozhi's (tested on 50V) block to 0
That's my girl. How would this work against Final Resistance?
>>
>>2320529
Final Resistance is always guaranteed block even against things like luck and front breakthrough, so it wouldn't do anything
>>
>>2320494
>In regards to drones, the two players that ran them used them VERY differently. It's was really cool to see.
How so? I never really got into making drones myself.
>>
>>2320497
>I figured ninja one shot was the pvp meta
That's probably too risky for most players since anyone can run Impulse Fields or Starlight Prayer on their vulnerable characters to avoid it. Rogue Misty's 4-hit-combo is a much more probable death sentence if you manage to get her into position.
'Hide' can also be dispelled too easily to be her sole gimmick, which is usually the case for one-shot Ninja builds.
>>
>>2320528
Nah the first game looks great
>>2320515
>It still is, no reason why you can't keep playing the first one after the sequel comes out if you don't like it.
I meant it's a shame in the sense that I want them to succeed financially with their next game, but it seems unlikely to me.
>>2320280
Perhaps. I certainly plan to play the next one, and it should be a great game if they've learned some lessons from making the first game.
>>
>>2320528
>>2320252
I really wonder what thr fuck happened between games.

Troubleshooters 1 looked like an urban battle seinen anime. That aesthetic is what made me care enough to give the gameplay a chance.

The sequel looks like reddit indie trash.
>>
>>2320582
The second game takes place shortly after the first, it's just in a backwater part of the world that borders Valhalla beyond the Iron Forest.
I agree that the urban fantasy aesthetic of the first game is cool though and I like that they somehow managed to make traditional fantasy roleplaying archetypes work well in a modern setting.
I'm going to withhold judgement until we see actual gameplay however. There should be a lot more varied environments to fight in which I'm looking forwards to and that's probably why Dandylion went with the change in setting for the sequel. They can have a lot more map variety if the game isn't limited to part of a city and the surrounding areas.
>>
>>2320535
Water Release hits twice so stuff like that isn't much of an issue. Ninja Misty can one shot whatever she wants, pretty much.
>>
>>2320497
Rogue built for dodge can reach seriously annoying high evasion that you need autohit active skills or Prior Planning to bring down to reasonable levels, but both me and 99str used our Rogues as phat tanks. Adrenaline Rush is +50 HP per common mastery which can be stacked up to reach pretty high amounts, and Break Fall reduces your critical damage taken by your dodge chance. My one is at about 380% critical damage reduction + 4600 HP + 108% dodge before SP. It makes her very difficult to hit for a lot of damage.
>>
>>2320593
>just in a backwater part of the world
Like Northwest/Alaskan shithole or medieval shit?
>>
>>2320689
>Like Northwest/Alaskan shithole
Precisely that, it's supposed to be a mountainous region ruled by tribes, some of the tribes have modern technology but one also just looks like vikings. Also spoonists and the clowns should be showing up, but in full military gear this time, so it should make for plenty of enemy variety between all the different factions. There will probably be a mix between semi-urban environments, small villages, and untouched nature in several different biomes for the actual levels.
There's an actual map showing the different biomes in the Kalter mountains but I can't find it at the moment, I think it was a post in the Steam forums and not on xitter or a dev diary.
I trust Dandylion to know what they're doing after all the feedback they've been given for Abandoned Children and they wouldn't just completely throw away the setting they've been designing for a decade.

I can't find it but I swear there was a forum post by Dandylion that mentioned the possibility of new SP types in Banished Children.
Maybe the reason why a lot of the guesses were wrong was because we were only thinking of the seven types in the first game.
Judging by some of the revealed monster designs, I could see them splitting poison and water into different types, it almost seemed like they were trying to do that in the first game with poison vs. jade crabmits and Cheche having poison abilities while Misty and Mash have water abilities despite all three technically being under the umbrella (heh) of water.

Where is this pic from? I wish the gang would stay together as the big shots of Valhalla but the story doesn't seem to move into that direction. I don't know if a single one of them will stay with Albus. Sion, Irene, Anne may or may not return after their field practice in another company. The Alley family stays if Albus' main mission will be going after Carter. Otherwise don't think so. Leton is a wild card either way. Giselle is on the warpath to hunt the clowns. Bianca and Alisa is playing Where on Earth is Yuri Leblanc? Since all of these can be found in the same direction in the wilderness there could be a possibility to keep working together. Misty goes back to her company. Kylie will probably leave due to Nine Dragon stuff.
>>
>>2321894
>Where is this pic from?
I found it from an older thread, but it's some unused CGs in the game that an anon extracted using the modding tool.

>I wish the gang would stay together as the big shots of Valhalla but the story doesn't seem to move into that direction
Yep, the art book seems to confirm that even Heixing is going on the expedition. Leton was confirmed to be going in the final Crimson Crow cutscene, pressured into it by Lily.
In my headcanon Irene and Sion get their field training together at Vermilion under Misty and Rion, Anne enjoys summer vacation with her family, and Ray gets back with Chaos Brush but I could see her going on the expedition too since her brothers and Giselle are going, and it could lead her to meeting Carter again.
I also have a theory that Kylie might be a returning playable character and Dandylion is keeping it a secret since none of the sequel characters seem like they could use drones. She would probably want to help Ryo and it would bring the total playable characters to 12, which is the same amount of characters that AC ended on. This is just wishful speculation though.

Albus being alone again is a perfect start for his foreshadowed villain arc, which is why I think the story is moving in that direction. Maybe he gets promoted to that classification rank he wanted after stopping Pascal, and with everyone else gone he decides it's the perfect time to read the classified files on the incident and finds out the truth.

There's a good amount of incentive to convert it to Wind with some of the sets but then its damage is really lackluster, stacks can solve it but by the time they do the map's usually close to over. It's unfortunate.

>>
>>2322198
>>2322201
You don't need that much attack power to make his slash do respectable damage, especially if you're converting it. Magic Knight's a critgod class already, wind SP gives him even more insane crit damage, and converting his slash to wind allows it take advantage of enemies' pitiful resistance stat and benefit from Magic Acceleration and other ESP damage effects.
>>
>>2320528
your pic is missing a girl
the green lipstick has grown on me ngl

I've noticed that some of the character designs are wearing things that would fit in the gear slots similar to how it is in the first game e.g. Irene has wrist guards, Heixing wears a coat and dress shoes, and Misty has a ring.
If Banished Children is using the same gear system then we might be able to judge which items they'll equip, it looks like Claudia has a bracelet and Hannah has a wrist guard for example. Sneakers are a weird choice for a ranged character if they're anything like they are in AC, makes me wonder if Ari maybe has some melee abilities.

>>2322426
Unfortunately a lot of the late-game enemies that wouldn't die in one hit anyways usually have high block, crit damage reduction, or both. Not that that really matters when ESP Albus can just "gentle" gust everything to death.
>>
>>2322470
>Unfortunately a lot of the late-game enemies that wouldn't die in one hit anyways usually have high block, crit damage reduction, or both
Albus has access to Sen no Sen and Retaliation for guaranteed crits, and high crit classes are affected the least by critical damage reduction. Magic Knight and GS also both have several ways of reducing flat block. Pretty much the only thing that really messes him up is Final Resistance, and he still has mega ESP damage to punch through that.

It's honestly really uncanny because, as a girl, i can tell you no way in hell you would put it unless you are cosplaying or you are at an halloween party. Especially if you are blonde and with that dress. Even if you had green blight eyes, that's now how you pick lipstick color. She looks like a clown, a litteral clown like circus. The old art was sooooo much better.
>>
>>2322493
I believe it was in a chinese post, but Dandylion have said they're still not settled on the lipstick colour so it might change.
>>
>>2322501
I really hope so. I have no particular beef with any design but that one really gets me off because the first one was really good and then they decided "make it blonde and with a clown makeup". Why? That's really strange considering all troubleshooters designs are beautiful.

>now if only Fresh Breeze actually did any damage
It really is such a shitty ability. Mid base damage (125) with terrible ESP scaling (50%) and its SP scaling doesn't do much. The lack of damage would be forgivable if it didn't have a fucking cooldown of 2 turns.
Compare that to Ray's basic attack which has the same AoE radius but 150 base damage with 100% attack or 50%/50% attack/ESP scaling, and no cooldown or cast delay and a longer range! It's just straight up worse in nearly every way. The main advantage it has is being a fall type and being able to clear smoke, and I think that's the intended use for it early game when smoke can actually be a problem.

Meanwhile Gentle Gust has no cooldown, a shorter cast delay, longer range, better ESP scaling, and has knockback and 60 AT suppression on top of that. Albus can infinitely suppress one or even multiple targets with just spamming Gentle Gust, it's an easy way to cheese Ryo in the dockyard mission. Unless you're lucky enough to get 3+ targets hit with Fresh Breeze, you're better off just using Gentle Gust for everything.

Argonaut actually seems really fucking good on Albus. The +100 SP benefits the SP scaling on all his attacks and he can make good use of the +200% crit damage bonus with the 14% chance for luck each turn. I never bothered looking in to SP/overcharge-focused builds before but there's some big damage potential here, Bianca could take advantage of this too.
>>
>>2323062
Argonaut is good on pretty much every character, but it particularly shines when it comes to beasts since you don't have to deal with their slow Rage build-up.
Summoning a beast with Inrush Training and Argonaut on Giselle's turn gives you an immense amount of tactical possibilities.
>>
>>2323062
>someone else is discovering the joys of SP stacking
It's really great. You can also combine it with Escape Death for a really scummy build, because Luck and Overcharge are shared between them so you just need Lightning Reflexes and Cheating Death.
Speaking of Bibi leBi, I also really like Skilled Military Strategist on her. You can stick on the Wind mastery that makes all her attacks inflict knockbacks, and then you can feed everyone in a 4 tile radius 20 AT whenever she shoots someone next to a wall and the feeling is orgasmic. If Albus' Support slots weren't so dire I'd run it on him too.
>>
>>2323062
feels overkill to me. Albus already mulches shit so the bonus crit damage will just go to waste. And unlike SP stacking Sion you lose all of that damage against blockstacking enemies.

true, but it probably lets Albus make use of other masteries if he's getting all the damage he needs from 1 set

People are definitely overstating the difficulty of DLC2 if I somehow beat the game on hard with this shit my first time around. You don't need to minmax at all. Having a couple hundred extra hours in the game definitely helps when it comes to making good builds though, it feels weird to look back on my own old builds and instantly see that they're shit and which masteries I would swap out for others.

>it feels weird to look back on my own old builds and instantly see that they're shit and which masteries I would swap out for others.
That feeling never goes away. Even after nearly 3300 hours and 14+ companies I still feel like that about any company more than one playthrough ago, despite them having been made back when I "only" had 3000 hours. This game's build diversity is far more insane than can be appreciated in just a few playthroughs, and I don't think it's humanly possible to minmax a character so hard that there's nothing you'd ever want to change about them.

Played the game for an hour again without running a single map. Just fiddling with masteries/items/crafting. I hadn't realised how outdated a bunch of my units' equipment slots were. Level 60 Giselle using a level 25 bracelet with nothing but 8% block on it. Heixing's still using a level 25 machine pistol that I badly need to replace but haven't been able to find anything with suitable affixes.
>>
>>2327166
that's unironically part of the reason why I love this game
You can spend just as much time tinkering with shit and coming up with build ideas as you can spend actually clearing maps.

If you need high quality equipment you can just craft it or run PvE joint drills with HR/HR on. If you're short on crafting materials you can just buy some on Shooter Street since there's not really anything else to spend all your money on, and it's cheapest to just buy the lowest tier of materials in bulk and let auto-crafting combine everything for you.
If you're using Giselle correctly you shouldn't need much defensive stats on her anyways since she can outrange pretty much everything. I only use bracelets for vigor on her.

This game punishes zoomers who keep restarting without finishing something. The back half of the game is a lot more fun than the front half.
>>
>>2329124
What keeps you from finishing your playthroughs? Is it just how slow the game progresses (especially at the beginning), the sheer length of it, or are you getting filtered by the difficulty spike in the DLCs?

>>2329132
I'm not even a zoomer. My first console was an SNES.
>>2329140
It's the fucking yapping. I know you can just skip cutscenes but I don't want to miss what few actually good story moments this game has. I'm a gameplay purist but I still do enjoy having some story to my games. What I don't like is hours and hours of poorly translating yapping.
Also a lot of it is just kinda poorly presented. I know this was at one point meant to be a multiplayer experience and you can still feel the lingering effects of that. At its core I do think it's a really fun game but also suffers from a severe lack of polish in some critical areas. But even despite that I want to finish it and experience the kino supposedly unlocked further within.
>>
>>2329181
Well if you've already played through the first part of the game multiple times then there's no reason not to skip through that part. The good moments don't start coming until near the end of the base game. When I first played I didn't care about the story or characters until I was halfway through the first DLC.
>Also a lot of it is just kinda poorly presented
I think that's kind of intended. Instead of putting everything in exposition dumps, you're supposed to connect the dots yourself. Everything makes a lot more sense in repeat playthroughs. Like you'll notice certain characters in the backgrounds of CGs that you didn't see before.

The game still has a lot of appeal even if you just ignore the story. Build autism and PvP is hundreds of more hours of gameplay after you get through most of the main story and you can always do repeat playthroughs with the extra difficulty options and self-imposed limitations.

>How many characters are in this game?
9 base game, +2 from DLC1 for 11, +1 from DLC2 for 12 total. DLC1 is free btw. If you count tamed beasts and drones that's +2 or +3 additional "characters".
There are a few more characters that aren't in the plaza mission that will join your team later, like a blue-haired hacker/engineer girl. It took a while for some of the characters to grow on me too, but the story does have quite a few character moments that might change your opinion on them.
If it's the character gameplay that doesn't appeal to you, keep in mind that all characters have 2 advanced classes that each unlock more abilities for them along with the hundreds of masteries you can equip to make them suit your tastes.

The early game is pretty slow unfortunately so you have to have the patience to get through it before you can really see what the game has to offer.

I fucking love this game so I'm too biased to give a fair opinion on whether you should keep going or not, but opinions on each character will probably change when the story starts to focus on them more. Most of the party members get a lot of flashbacks so you know where they're coming from, and I found it a lot easier to connect with characters like Ray who I'd originally written off on sight.

I did some digging into the game files, and those versions of Turk and Ryung Lee are developmentally pretty messy.
The one that looks like Turk has 2 entries with identical alpha-tier graphics: SteelheadRed, and Steelhead_TurkPang. The dialogue info for Steelhead_Red calls him 스틸헤드 싸움꾼, which seems to translate to Steelhead Brawler. Neither of those two actually appear in the game because his real object definition is called Gangster_SpoonBat_Turk (pretty much all Human enemies are prefixed with Gangster)
Ryung Lee is similar: SteelheadBlue, Steelhead_RyungLi and Gangster_Ryung_Li. His SteelheadBlue dialogue info is named 스틸헤드 속도광 which I'm having difficulty translating other than the Steelhead prefix.
The guy next to them is SteelheadBlack, who has no object data but his dialogue info is named 스틸헤드 시위꾼 which seems to translate to "Steelhead Protestors".
The 4th guy on that row is Zechariah who has no useful descriptive things in his files whatsoever. He's a swordsman with no defined SP type, but that's about it.
Also, the guy in the bottom left who looks like Houcheng is internally called Leeming, which is the same as Ming Lee in Misty's joining map. That's a Gold Dragon shirt, too.

Fuck I really wish levels/exp would carry over between beast evolutions and drone reinforcement

With Faithful Supporter + Beast Trainer I can get all 15 class level ups with just clearing the first ordinary case on challenge mode but I have to do that 4 times for each Call of X mastery, and it's extremely mind numbing especially after running that stage several times for unique masteries from other legendary beasts.
This is also after getting all the masteries from PvE joint drills to minimize how many beasts I have to level.

>>
>>2332941
Giselle and it's not even a race. Those gigantic milkers are top tier.
>>
>>2332941
>>2332971
Thinking about this wonderful question scientifically, the only things that are confirmed to affect the taste of breast milk are diet and medication intake, none of which should be a problem for Troubleshooter girls. Another thing that *might* be important is general stress levels and the amount of released cortisol, but there's no direct correlation, though some neonatologists say there is, and that relaxed mothers perform better in breastfeeding.

Even if we're talking volume, breast size matters little, since they mostly consist of fat with glandular tissue sprinkled around within. So even itty bitty titty gremlins like Irene can produce decent amounts of milk. Ideally (in theory) a woman with lower body fat % AND massive breasts would have a higher ratio of glandular tissue to fat, making for a massive milk factory.
TLDR - can be anyone depending on how you spin it
>>
>>2333040
True but i still want to be breastfeded by giselle.
>>
>>2333040
To offer an alternate perspective, I would propose, based on this anon's >>2333206 contribution to the dialogue, that the experience of "taste" is not merely a matter of breast milk content. Rather, it is a sum of the experience yielded by drinking the breast milk. Milk from a glass or a puddle on the ground may taste the same, but I hypothesize that subjects surveyed would rate the former milk as "tasting better".

Therefore, I believe we must consider the non-milk factors that could influence the breastmilk-drinking experience. I think it unlikely that Bianca could gracefully breastfeed our taste-testers, for example. Irene may have the spirit, but her stature makes the act physically inconvenient. On the other hand, Giselle has a fine temperament and mature body well-suited to this, as anecdotal testimony has already revealed.

I hold that an objective milk factory ranking can exist, but it could only reveal itself through extensive testing.
>>
>>2333234
I don't think an objective assessment is possible, given that our brave professional testers would most likely vote for their waifu regardless of the experiment's conditions.
>>
Consider: ESP influences the taste.

The healing might take him out of Final Resistance range which could make him easier to kill, but Third Heart revives him to full anyways which also means he'll also get the benefit from Best Condition, the AT reduction might also clear his revived status quicker so he could make use of the double revive. Is there any advantage to using the mutant over the regular venom yasha? The only thing worth using it for seems to be the web throwing ability, past that you're missing out on the bonus stats from the epic rank. I don't think any of that matters for getting the highest dodge, though.

Ranks don't give stats to player-owned units, but it does mean I can't use The Eye of the King for evasion against lower rank enemies, so I kind of regret investing in this instead of a proper Venom Yasha.

Rogues with hide don't suffer too much from having low hit chance if they can actually use an attack before hide wears off. White knight isn't a bad class and in some situations it's better than barbarian, it's just that barbarian is just generally broken. Most classes wouldn't be able to solo late-game violent cases without very specific builds and/or cheese.

Anyways in the sequel I don't think there are any characters that have both WK and barbarian as their advanced classes. Ryo has WK and "swordmaster" as his t2 calsses. It seems like classes have been reworked in general with a bunch of different t1 ones for the new weapon types. "Warrior" is an t2 class now, for example, while "axeman" (which is probably reworked marauder) is one of its base classes.

If anyone is curious, the responsive attack dodge from draki's perfect scale doesn't count for stuff like swift footwork or street fighter for stuff from lightning reflexes. I just tested it.
I don't know how to test if it counts for escape death but I assume it doesn't.
>>
>>2337460
It doesn't. All the stuff that triggers off Lightning Reflexes only happens when Lightning Reflexes itself activates, which you can see with the text popup.
Furious Lightning Gale, High Speed Hovering, Auto-Dodging Response, Draki's Perfect Scale, Dorori Echolocation, and Subconscious are all separate things internally.
Darkness Hunter + Escape Death is one of my favourite cheeses, though.
>>
>>2337019
>running max damage reduction shenanigans or rolling Optimism gacha or what?
It's mostly Bloodbath doing the work, but Optimism + Subconscious and Phys Res 3 are also indispensable in this scenario. I used to run OSOK for 46V, but here it just doesn't cut it, killing enemies in several hits is more beneficial for healing on demand anyway. You could drop Vocation from this for something else, but I like my speeds and it wasn't uncommon for my speedy wife to get 36 AT consecutive turns on the regular, which really, really helped with Subconscious setups.
Bicrons and Destrons are easy to deal with post-nerf, even if I lack damage due to mostly speccing in survivability. Bleed immunity on gear + Water Res 3 to remove poison from ranger enemies (much thanks to the anon that told me about it) and some luck can carry you to victory. Could even be possible w/o Limit Break, if you ditch some of the difficulty modifiers like HRHR.
>>
>>2337527
I love how such a minmaxed build capable of soloing a lategame violent case on Cruel + all modifiers "looks" weirdly mediocre. It's not knocking the build itself - I know every mastery is there for a reason and the results speak for themselves, but metafags would go into conniptions over how many of the usual guidelines it breaks, and I fucking love it.

alchemist, now, that filters me to this day. i guess side effect potions is the name of the game there
>>
>>2338676
Alchemist is just annoying to use because a lot of its damage comes from unstable chemical concoction and upgraded shaking shot, which is annoying because if Ray gets attacked a lot in between turns, even if she dodges them all, she's going to blow up and probably get stunned. It has a lot of inconsistent damage and requires set up for big damage, compared to to grenadier which does a lot of decent damage without any fuckery required, alchemist is also more support-focused, somewhat like MA Leton vs. SS Leton. It's a "high skill" or gamba class.
I haven't really noticed a lot of benefit from potionmaxxing on alchemist Ray, but maybe I'm just not using them correctly. Having a guaranteed full heal from regeneration potions is nice though. There's also the potential for crazy stat bonuses from earnest researcher by having equal TP points in multiple categories.

I just had a dream where Dandylion released a playable demo for Banished Children and it had a couple of tutorial levels, one where you played as Sion with some VHPD units, and another where you played as Ryo and Jason who were clearing out a group of Spoonists that were hiding in a cave, but Jason was a jobber as usual who kept dying to the spoonists and would make you fail the mission if you didn't keep both him and Ryo alive. The new 3d artstyle looked nice but it ended up making the game look way too colorful and high-fantasy like WoW or Genshin Impact.

How does cast delay work exactly? I can't seem to find any information on it. For the hundreds of hours I've played this game I'm just now wondering if the level 50 weapons that give -15% cast delay give significantly less AT than the level 55/60 weapons that give +10 speed (assuming you don't already have a lot of speed).

Is the cast delay a flat value added after the speed/AT calculation, or does the AT from cast delay get reduced by speed?
>>
>>2339873
It's a flat amount added to your final AT, so -15% cast delay is worth between about 2 to 9 AT when you use skills with cast delay. Speed doesn't affect it at all.
Also, there's a cap of 200 AT from cast delay during your own turn, which is why sometimes you'll see skills not delay by their full value in the turn order. It's easy to see with Restore Vigor when you're at 100+ AT.
>>
>>2339889
I see
So using some of that lower level equipment that gives cast delay reduction might not be worth it unless the character has no other access to cast delay masteries or AT reduction
>>
>>2339921
All depends on the board. If you have easy access to AT refunds before the end of your turn then you can skimp on cast delay and Speed. In general hitting the 36 AT turn minimum consistently is powerful, that's mostly what I have in mind when looking at AT-related stats like cast delay, refunds and Speed.

I somewhat wish there were SP potions in the game. It could possibly be overpowered, giving the same effect as recharge/awaken but at the opportunity cost of using other potions instead of mastery slots, but having that on-demand SP for just an action point and potion use would be a huge boon for several builds or characters. I'm aware excitement potions can put characters in overcharge as its side-effect but that's way too inconsistent to rely on.

In general I hope consumables are better in Banished Children. It's boring that using gear items is almost always a better use of that item slot instead of grenades outside of specific builds. The early game feels a lot more tactical in terms of item usage because you don't have access to any of the strong gear items along with having limited healing options so it really makes me consider when to use healing potions and which grenades to bring along. Consumables are completely forgettable come DLC stages where my entire team is decked out in greater major healing potions but never think about using them because my units are either in proximity to someone with a healing ability or in a situation where a healing potion isn't going to do much. It would also be nice if the actual consumable item wasn't consumed when you used them and you just got a limited number of uses per stage to save the hassle of having to buy/craft or stockpile a bunch of whatever consumables you're going to use.

Alchemist Ray also has the trance ability and overcharge spray making that redundant, I was aware of that set but didn't mention it for that reason. Same thing is several other potion side-effects like the full heal from regen potions; her healing spray heals to full no matter what and her healing mist gives the regen buff. Other potion side effects are either nothing special, very situational, or just downsides.

I wonder what's the highest possible single-hit damage.
A Bianca crit would probably be the most likely contender since I regularly see those reach five digit damage numbers even against late-game enemies, but Giselle can also do a lot of damage with crit headshots and Sion can get a lot of raw damage stats from flash. Some beast abilities also have some pretty strong damage multipliers like crabmit unburrows so there's some big damage potential there as well.

The highest I've done is about 141k with Sion. It's with the full Big Lightning Negoori set and a lightning-based Black Mage board. He's got that mastery that reduces enemy resistance by 4% (5% with the set) per lightning mastery, and you can get it to 100% resistance reduction. On top of that you have massive ESP damage, Flash and critical damage.
Apologies for potato quality.

The entire game now done as solo WK on CC with modifiers on
Now that I've carried my wife through the endgame solo on both classes, I can safely say that I wouldn't wish the 60V playthrough on my worst enemy (especially on WK and doubly so since my autism wouldn't allow me to end if I wasn't the one to finish off all bosses myself). It's hard to point out a single enemy type, most of the time you either double tap things to heal off of them or get crit and die. I'd say that human enemies are all easy, all beasts fall into the category of 'if you don't crit me, I win' and machines have been rendered into jokes for the most part by the recent nerfs. Probably the one enemy I had to actively play around and change my routes for the most was Skull mask - the usual strategy of overwhelming him with responsives didn't work, so I had to make a deliberate strategy of dealing with *him* specifically on that map. Other than that, you just pray for better luck.
The most fun maps were 52V and 58V.

Yes but there are some crucial differences from XCOM, like no custom/random characters and there's a story campaign instead of procedural missions.

>How scripted or replayable is it?
It's pretty scripted and linear but some anons in this thread do repeat playthroughs fairly often, the main appeal of this game is the build variety so people replay the campaign trying out different builds from scratch, there's also difficult endgame content and a somewhat active PvP scene if you aren't interested in replays.

>>
>>2349707
nah that anon is absolutely right, I have to ask if you're the one missing half the SP sets here. An overwhelming majority of them only use SP masteries and it's just a few beast sets (that I haven't bothered unlocking on this save) and that one shaman set that actually uses SP masteries mixed in with class/race ones.
It's kind of annoying because it makes it harder to make boards that are mixed SP and class/common/race masteries, you're either just grabbing a few SP masteries that are worth using outside of a set (like cauterize) or running a board that's at least half SP masteries so you can actually use their sets. Putting SP more masteries in sets with class and common masteries would help with making mixed builds.

>>
>>2349746
>Why they gave misty shaman instead of elementalist I will never understand
I don't think it makes that big of a difference. The Elementalist masteries only apply to ESP attack abilities specifically, of which Misty only has 2 regular and one 1 ult unless using Call of Water. Spirit Binding gives her plenty of ESP power stat when used with a Water SP-heavy board which works better with Unending Tide for the scaling bonus. Water has some pretty gnarly offensive masteries and sets anyways so not much is being missed out on from Elementalist offensive masteries.

>ESP misty is jank as fuck because all her power comes from water masteries.
Full Lightning and full Fire boards are both extremely common on Sion and Irene yet no one says anything about those being jank, Water also has pretty decent synergy with non-ESP abilities.

This build only works on maps where high ground exists but it can do some interesting things with that.
>>
Do you think we'll ever see her as an actual character instead of just background art?
>>
>>2351995
It's possible. One of the quest conversations mentions her by name. It's one of the ones from Bruna IIRC.

Defense Protocol is shit and i'm tired of pretending it isn't
>>
There exists an alternate timeline where heixing's melee skill can be used for responsive attacks and there is an extremely fun sweeper build that combines close suppressive fire, forestallment, counter attack, and berserker sets.

I know we got some short gameplay footage of the sequel but did it ever get confirmed if they were making the game in OGRE again?
>>
>>2353626
They're using UE5 for the sequel. It was one of the first things they said about it once things got going.
>>
>>2353657
On one hand UE5 is infinitely easier to mod than OGRE. On the other its UE5....

It's ogre.

when bibi said this in DLC1 I thought it was really odd but after finishing it I realize this scene adds a lot to her character.

Why is Alisa fondled by a goblin?

I would respect Alisa's bodily autonomy and only squeeze her bicep like she gave me permission to.

In the absence of fanart anons must learn to draw themselves
