Which Civ has the best scenarios and more important, does anyone even plays them?

Civ2 alien invasion is pretty fun, but only if you play as one of the three humans
Age of Discovery is pretty neat too.
I need to play the jules verne one some more, it had a lot of events and seemed kind of interesting..

>Flat out mods
Pretty sure some of them actually are mods. At the very least Fall from Heaven and Rhye's and Fall of Civilizations. Final Frontier might be too. Not the first time fan content was featured in expansion as you can see from civ 2. Quite cool that they got included like that, although so might say it's cheap for the devs.

Civ 6 gets a F for multiplayer-only scenarios. Why is this even a thing? Did the devs couldn't bother with scripting specific AI for them or something?

I've only played Civ 5's scenarios and I really like them.
They do suffer from most of them being for the vanilla game, which is a much lesser experience. But they are still typically fun.
The worst by far is "Rise of the Mongols" pre G&K combat was fucking terrible, and having to do an aggressive conquest with limited units with that 10 hit points system was just God awful.
"Paradise Found" is really lame, not much there. But it's kinda relaxing. So eh.
Maybe I'll review all of them itt

Alright I'm going to review all of the Civ 5 scenarios.
>Rise of the Mongols
F Tier
Civ 5's combat greatly favors the defense, and this is a vanilla Civ 5 scenario, so your units only have 10 hit points and sometimes an attack may do anywhere from 1 to 4 HP seemingly at random, making combat horrible.
You need to conquer multiple civs wholesale with a small army. It sucks. Plus there's nothing unique, no new mechanics or anything.
>Conquest of the New World (original)
C Tier
Fun enough. Some unique mechanics, pretty fast paced. Have the highest score in 100 turns. It's simple, but effective. Still a vanilla scenario, but fortunately conquest isn't as big of a deal
>Conquest of the New World Deluxe
S Tier
Tons of new mechanics, unique victory conditions (still score, but the method for getting score has changed) I love the tipi improvement for the Shoshone. It's the best way to play the scenario. More civs, as well.
The only downsides are that with 150 turns and more civs, it is a lot longer. And since the new civs don't have achievements for winning as them, I'd stick with the OG scenario for achievement hunting.
>Paradise Found
D Tier, maybe low C.
This is an incredibly bare bones scenario. Be the first to take all social policies. Not fun on higher difficulties.
There is some unique stuff with units and definitely the map. It can be relaxing, and there is something cool about settling Polynesia. But overall it feels half-baked.

Firstly, looking at some of the rest of these, Paradise Found in definitely C tier.
>1066: Year of Viking Destiny
B Tier
One of the only scenarios properly balanced on all difficulties, (including Deity) I think this is a pretty solid scenario. Especially for a combat-focused one. The different civs have unique campaigns despite the lack of special rules, which is nice. The map is very well made, the city states are interesting and it's just a solid scenario
>The Samurai Invasion of Korea
A Tier (as Korea)
The best part of Civ 5 is being able to use tactics to play defense and destroy a numerically superior foe. As Korea you get the best of this. The only vanilla scenario I routinely go back to for this reason. The other civs aren't as fun, but aren't terrible. Though I don't know why the Manchu are even in this scenario.
>Wonders of the Ancient World
D Tier
The vanilla Civ 5 combat mechanics really stand out here as you get flooded by barbarians who can destroy your scouts in just 1 attack. Horrifically unbalanced on higher difficulties, and not really featuring any new mechanics except how wonders are unlocked. There's not a lot to this one, it's just playing regular Vanilla Civ

>Into the Renaissance
A Tier (soft)
This is a scenario which should be amazing, but is only good instead. The vast amount of civs, the AI's ridiculous boosts to city and unit spamming, and the 200 turn length make this frequently quite a slog to get through. The HRE 'mechanic' is as bad as it is barely present, but the map of Europe and the setting does make it a fun experience if you want more context and like early modern history.
Wouldn't recommend this one on higher difficulties
>Fall of Rome
A Tier
This is a really fun one. The way the Romans' social policy tree gives malices rather than bonuses, and you get culture for losing cities is funny and really a creative use of the game mechanics. The various other civs are all fun and give wildly different experiences. It's a very replayable scenario and not too long either.
As for why it isn't an S tier, eh, I'm not a big fan of solely war focused scenarios, and being on the offense in Civ 5 isn't fun.
>Empires of the Smokey Skies
? Tier
I played this once probably like 11 years ago and never touched it since.
I can't remember if it's good. But I do remember that it had a prototype of the World Congress mechanic from BNW, which is interesting.
This is the biggest transformation mod out of all of them. And thus a big part of whether or not you'll like it is if you care for steampunk aesthetics. I don't.
>American Civil War
S Tier
The best war-focused scenario bar-none. The usage of the Kris Swordsman' gimmick for the infantry is really fun, getting to read these unique buffs or nerfs and the civil war generals they're based on.
The scenario is a bit short, and often ends quicker. So some of the features seem superfluous. Like who uses the military engineers or the ironclads? They come in so late you should already have won even on Deity.
And I wish the Union's changing of main generals was reflected in the scenario.
The events are really fun.

>Scramble for Africa
S Tier
The best saved for last. Not only is this a topic that no Civ game will ever touch again, but it's superbly done.
A nice, large roster of civs, multiple different play styles with the different types of civ you can play as, actual exploration. Unique foreign policies and units.
One of the most replayable scenarios, and one of the best in general

Hmm, nevermind. It's not as great as I remember it from 10 years ago, which was the last time I heard it.

I'd have to go with Pocatello's theme instead.

It has to be Mesomerica from civ 3, Sengoku from civ 3, Rise of Rome from civ 3, and Napoleon's conquest from civ 3.
The alien and fantasy ones from civ 2 are good.
There would be more if I played the the test of time more. I played the gold edition and should probably pay the scenarios again sometimes, I wish they'd release it on steam or openciv2 on steam.
I honestly can't judge civ 4 scenarios fairly since they are split between different expansions for some crazy reason and I don't remember civ 5's or civ 6's
