Even if you discount the Russia glazing as the "every country believes they're the good guys" thing TFR has going on, you can still tell it was written by Russians. They're always trying to wax poetic for some reason, every single one of them thinks they're Tolstoy

I decided not to play TFR again until the American Experiment comes out. A lot of stuff feels hollow, especially playing as the NSM. Almost no events and the focuses don't even have descriptions.

Not trying to start shit, but american education level is currently so bad american teens and young adults are 1/4 illiterate, and most of the remaining ones have difficulty with "difficult words".

Criticize Russia all you want but their people are still obligated to learn to read and they have some good historical authors, like Tolstoy who you mentioned, that inspire them to love literature in general.

This is probably what bothers you, americans don't have any motivation to learn or write anything, no good authors or books other than moby dick yadda yadda. To hate Russian writers because they make an effort to learn to write and read out of love for literature is not an own, it feeds into america's ignorant view of the world.

How are their 200+ division fully supplied with their entire supply network bombed to oblivion? There is no way local supply can support 10+ divisions per tile on the alpine mountains in the winter.

After 1000 hours of Kaisershiite I have Kaiserfatigue.
Man I'm fucking bored of KX and KR.
I played basically every country, every path.
Everything plays exactly the same every time.
Any country that isn't specifically Germany, Russia, France, Canada, UK or the US is flavorless.
The multi country civil war garbage is boring in every region.
The Balkans and Eastern Europe are horrible with long focuses and no content.
Majors predictably expand their factions and rarely get any outliers to join the fray.
Australasia is the worst country in either mod.
Sandfrance is pathetic.
Mittelafrika is a joke.
The AI never works together so you just see capitulations that in theory should not happen given the total troop counts.
In both mods, the Caucasus and Steppe/Cossack countries are severely buggy and underpowered.
In Kaiserredux the break-away countries with little content like Arizona, Wales, Scotland, anything in the Baltic, stand 0 chance against the countries that surround them.
No content (and sometimes no unique content) after you win civil wars and unite regions with underpowered countries.
There is no way to leave a faction or take it over manually as the player without the console so you are 99% of the time stuck playing second fiddle to the AI when you join one.
Subjects are a handicap but the forced "Conquest" Events require you to release them or suffer major Stab and War support hits.
The sad thing is, these 2 mods are basically the best and most complete experiences we have outside of vanilla. No, I'm not going to play ponyshit, tranny new order, red colored world mod #137, or schizo communist world overhaul mod #153, that shit is gay.
I would play TFR or OWB instead but those mods havent changed in several years.
I wish HOI5 would just release already so I don't have to keep playing this gay shit.

It's the most "vanilla" like. It's babby's first mod that doesn't change any mechanics, doesn't do any overhauls and doesn't turn people off with a weird setting or premise.

I'm not sure how many branching paths are in the demo, or what happens if you decide to refrain from putting Breen in charge of Black Mesa, but if you follow the standard canon events you have from January 2000 until May 2001 to prepare for the Resonance Cascade. As the Xen Infestation spreads, and the USA is bogged down trying to contain Black Mesa, various wars pop off like a Second Korean War. You have about a year to try and contain Xen until the Combine show up and the shit really hits the fan. Putin joined NATO while I wasn't looking which is pretty funny.

Is there a mod where the white Russians wins the civil war but leads warlord states?
>>
>>2366995
That actually sounds really fun, anyways I loaded up UC and am playing USA. Is there seriously no way to win?
>>
>>2367032
>Is there seriously no way to win?
There probably is, I'm just not very well acquainted with hoi4 in general. There's a lot of systems that produce additional units like activating the National Guard, which I should have been faster to jump on, and Black Market Mercenaries. Don't bother with naval tech you won't need it. You'll be too busy juggling Xen Infestations, Necrotics, and insurrectionist movements to worry about anything off the mainland United States.
>>
>>2367032
>>2367038
Also if you start having problems consider rolling back to version 1.17.3. The new updates don't play nice with the mod.
>>
christ the xen invasion is gigantic.
>>
Fuck. I really want to like UC but its genuinely straining trying to understand what's going on.
I nuked several portals and xen just showed up in the same places right after.
The 7 hour war micro is ridiculous.
I can't see half of the game because it's so dark. For some stupid reason the devs chose to use black colored text in some events as well so you can't read them.

Man this mod really drives the point home that there was no possible way for Earth to win after the resonance cascade.
>>
>>2367110
Glad you enjoyed it too. I'm going to play through Black Mesa again and then try the Combine demo next. It allegedly has a little bit of Post-War content too but I wouldn't expect much. The gap between HL and HL2 is rife with potential so I have high hopes for what they do with it in the future. A Vortigaunt campaign would be neat. Maybe these ugly bastards will show up too.
>>
>>2367114
I think I didn't like it as much as I thought I would. A lot is going on at the same time.
I was just vibing completing the first focus tree and it was ripped away from me. The other thing was, half the focuses don't seem to matter if you get them or not.
>The election mechanics are just a PP and micro sink, you basically don't need to engage with it at all.
>The game gives you State Refugee Units in the war and I think I missed what you're supposed to do with them but they're useless in combat.
>The NORAD nuclear explanation is a 5 page info dump that was too dense for me to understand without a visual example.
I can tell there is supposed to be a way for the US to win I just don't get it.
I'm going to play Combine some other time since they look like the easier faction.
>>
>>2367117
Yeah I thought it was weird that some of Clinton's shit just auto-completes. I feel like it shouldn't even be part of the focus tree, but rather just on-going events. The military side is important to fill out, and the Black Market that the Black Mesa tree gives you access to basically prints PP and can massively increase some military research.

I also couldn't figure out what to do with refugees. The Florida ones said something about Jacksonville but I don't think sending them there did anything. They may just be an equipment sink, some events may be bugged, or they might just be a placeholder.
>>
>>2367117
I've heard it's possible for US to win by taking out xen and separatists early and spamming CAS and subs to deal with combine
>>
>>2367233
Ok but how the fuck do you take out the Xen early when they debuff you for 60 days minimum AND have +500% Surrender Limit?

I don't think I've ever made carrier CAS before. What niche do they fill? Assisting in naval invasions?
>>
>>2367540
They are really good at providing Ground Attack for naval invasions in the Pacific or otherwise low coverage air zones no where near air bases.
>>
>>2367540
>>2367599
They are typically not better than naval bombers, just more versatile.

>>
>>2367646
One of the focus tree nodes puts three units of special forces with unique HEV models on three of those areas. I didn't figure out how to supply them properly or evacuate them.
>>
Well I got caught up in the planning phase and realized a few things:
>The "Normal Invasion" Size is highway robbery as the PP points are the same but the troop counts are lower.
>The invasion locations are NOT where they say they are.
>The Xen made this invasion incredibly easy and the AI cannot battle plan against Xen
The micro is unbelievably time consuming as well since I'm moving 30 different fronts.

>>2367698
That's pretty cool, I'll have to check that out after I finish Black Mesa.
>>
>>2367705
The very bottom of the tree is unfinished and a lot of the focuses are 35 day debuff reductions.
Small resistance uprisings happen that you need to periodically fight off and continue fighting against the Xen.
>>
kaiserreich should be the most popular hoi4 mod
it's significantly better than slop like road to 56 or millennium dawn
>>
>>2368151
Update:
I played Combine until late 2011 completing focuses.
I completed the tech tree basically, only a couple techs off.
The game crashes pretty much 100% of the time crossing a certain date.
Seems to me like the Resistance will never organically make another uprising and the focuses I was waiting to complete were going to war with the Russian and American Resistance. There is no path for my troops to take in order to beat the American Resistance and the Russian resistance is a total joke that is basically 3 cities and no troops.

The post war of UC is not good nor finished.

One of the many mods where due to a gorillion different ideologies you are unable to get proper factions that deviate from the railroad.

>road to 56
Actually pretty decent mod contentwise but it is completely broken and unbalanced.

>millenium dawn
Probably the worst full conversion mod. Old millenium dawn was peak but the new one is endlessly bloated. You spend more time reading events and trying to understand focus chains instead of having actual gameplay. Make a single mistake and you are locked out of half the focus tree for some reason. Even 2017 modern day mod was better.
>Want to annex neighbours
>You need the right focuses for that
>Focuses locked due to political party
>To get right political party in power you need decisions which unlock via other focuses
>No political power because of nu total war style dilemma events
>Want to build factories but you have no civs because of the retarded energy system
>Can't get factories from focuses because they require specific conditions that take years to complete
>Pointless modifers that just fuck you over
>Focuses on the far left of the tree require completely different focuses on the far right of the tree
>>

>american education level is currently so bad american teens and young adults are 1/4 illiterate, and most of the remaining ones have difficulty with "difficult words".
That's because, rather than being educated, they were indoctrinated. Public schools under the Department of Education have become NPC programming centers and "education majors" from universities that do the same thing are the culprits. American children are not taught, they are assigned code. It was bad enough when I was a kid, when our teachers told us jack fucking shit about the Civil War outside of "slavery is the worst and most evil thing ever" and "the confederacy were all traitors despite none of them ever being convicted of treason" so I can only imagine what it's like now. The only historical event that received an equally reductionist and ignorant education for was World War 2 and I don't even want to get into that because I'll start throwing salutes I shouldn't.

Why are there so many fucking events before the American civil war kicks off? You unironically spend more time paused to read the events than having the game run.
There also being 2 decision tabs that can not be open at the same time which need to be juggled is also retarded.
I just stare at events and click a decision once a while for 2 hours. Other countries were pretty enjoyable so far and I hope the actual civil war is fun to play but quite a lot of these events aren't needed or could be half the text easily.
