Playing as the Normandie adventurer. Seems like they’ve nerfed the more explicitly broken adventurer stuff from what I can tell. Doing the criminal stuff first because it seems to be the most lucrative now, plus it synergizes with me stealing the best artifacts from around the world. Being a huge Eu4 fan... I'm super dissapointed by Eu5. Sure at launch was fun-ish with new unknown mechanics. I decided to wait to see if they fixed the game to make it more "fun". But honestly i almost wish this was eu4 at its current state with all DLC but with a new engine better performance (more provinces and smoother game play) and good multipayer support... Instead we got this nightmare which I havent been able to even put more then 2 attempts in to a campaign after literally thousands of hours on eu4. You want to play 10s of hours and hundreds of ingame years to look slightly larger?

There is too much to do in this game. Why add features if players are just gonna automate them anyway? Playing wide in this game is a nightmare not only because it takes 10 years to integrate a single province, but also because there are too many small countries. Like seriosly, if I want to unite Japan I HAVE TO BUILD UP 20 SPY NETWORK AND FABRICATE A CLAIM IN OVER 100 PROVINCES. HOW IS THIS FUN!?

There is a difference between adding fun features and just adding slop that does not add anything of value to the game. Honestly EU4 is more fun.

I love grand strategy games and have WAY too many hours in this series and the CK series. I really wanted to love it, but it feels slow and not thought out. I'll come back in a couple of years, but really disappointed. I know Paradox has had a history of poor initially releases, but feel like this is unplayable just for the time commitment. You can play 100 years in CK3 or EUIV in a matter of a few hours. I spent nearly 10 hours playing to move less than 40 years. It's like they thought people wanted more micro tedium instead of choices that really matter in the long run.

The glimpse of hope I see is the auto-government buttons, but even then do I really want to spend the vast majority of the game building roads? How tedious! I feel like they tried to make combat and fighting less of a factor/main focus, but just failed miserably.

This isn't even getting into the hardware aspects of the game, its a map painter in its most simplistic form, why does it tax my gpu more than Boulders Gate 3? That's nuts, no one really cares about seeing each mini avatar or the grass/trees that blow in the wind... not to mention the clamoring of people that needed the waves in the ocean to move.

I would give this game a thumb up if it wasnt called EU5. This is not a EU4 successor.. Imagine you make next Batman movie and make it a comedy - sure it also has Batman in it(character) but it isn't what you would expect, is it?

It does not feel anywhere close to a complete game. They stripped everything that made EU4 enjoyable and added endless layers of complexity that are not needed and do not work. Bring back mission trees. If I wanted to play an economy simulator I would play Victoria

I have 7800 hours in eu4 (aka "a sampler"), and I tried so damn hard to like this game. There are a lot of small improvements, all outweighed by the bugs and the lack of purpose. I tried playing Korea, and ended up getting autocalled into Korean rebel wars in other countries, breaking truces every year and making stability impossible. Played the ottomans, took the Balkans and Levant, got bored, wandered off. Played castile, formed Spain, colonized, got bored, wandered off. The game is meaningless.

I will consider coming back if they add back in mission trees - at least that gave a sense of achievement and purpose. As it is, this is a boring downgrade. Paradox made it more complex and sophisticated, sure, but complexity does not equal fun and sophistication does not equal entertainment.

The game is very hard. You have to automate many things. That both reduces the enjoyment, and when you automate them, the AI plays poorly. EU4 was more enjoyable. I couldn’t really get the same level of enjoyment from this one. It makes more sense to go back to EU4.

does trade actually flow? does anyone know?
is it just between different market nodes?
or if you have a empire spanning a large area, will the raw resources from your colonies flow between nodes to your heartlands? i can never get a clear answer if one at all
does it work on a proper principle of supply and demand over long ranges?

got an event of a general asking for a war with a random armenian province and since I was low on stab I accepted, but I forgot I had mil access with them, so it lowered my stab to 0, which triggered the collapse events (starts when you have less than 25 stab and ends when you get 30 stab)
it started with a revolt from some other general that took the entirety of Sakia region (this kilich tag), and while I defeated it very easily, it costed more than 100 war score to take back all of it and got me like 100 agressive expansion (so no stab)
Then I got 200 slave revolts in persia since my genius ass decided to make macedonians slaves
Was forced to release my indian lands and Uzboia as client kingdoms via events to get stab and the collapse stopped
Rhamana is my client kingdom also, so its fine

I set up this colony to ship beeswax to my capital but despite owning the production I still have to buy the goods first
it's still cheaper than importing from anywhere else but I don't know if that's because I have first preference or just because I boosted production
as far as I can tell the goods go into the local market where they're priced according to supply and demand, then the buyer with the highest trade advantage gets to buy first, then it gets shipped to whatever market using the buyer's trade maintenance fees, then it goes into the importer's market where the importer's buildings can buy them
there's also a trade barrier and tariff mechanic but I still have no idea how that works

i set up a colony on the american west coast hoping i could unload my stuff relatively close

the market hub is in pueblo territory which means it's closer to texas than california
which means all my stuff unloaded on the coast has to be routed inland through the blank part of the map marked with dragons and fish women with tits before it gets to me (it won't because it runs out of range before it ever gets there)
but there is a way around this: create a new market hub that you and only you control, then you can direct all your goods there directly
