I've been trying to enjoy EU5 but it's been pissing me off, for various reasons, so I've gone back to a game I bought ages ago but barely played and never see discussed. It's similar in many ways to EU style games but has a little bit of a total war feel to it to.
Things I like
>kingdom management is pretty good, lots of ways to build up towns
>random map reasources means you get variety (though this can be annoying)
>play quickly your not meant to spend dozens of hours on a single playthough and can win a campaign fairly quickly
>mods it has mods to correct the more annoying points
>diplomacy is pretty good
>you can set the world up in different ways so it's not just the same old major powers
Things I don't like
>the tactical battles are fucking awful and really let the game down
>having such a limited number of slots for knights fucks you so hard, you need a mod for it
>annoying voice overs and sounds
>feels and looks cheap and small compared to its bigger rival titles
Overall 6/10 but I'll give it a 7/10 with mods. If your looking for a break from Europa Universalis or want a gentle way to ease yourself into that sort of game and are coming from total war its worth checking out.

2nd game is literally 1st on a new, shitty engine. You get 2 (read: two) buttons of QoL improvement and slightly refurbished skill tree, but you also gain unstable game engine, significantly dumber AI and extremely bloated price for what is effectively a (subpar) remaster of the original.
You could just play the original and get unironically better experience, simply because AI can actually play it.

Which is my point.

And also, different anon, but there is literally nothing to discuss here. The shortcomings of KoH2 were covered extensively during the first year, when the game came out, and nothing much changed in it since then, so there is nothing to discuss. Everyone knows already it's a shitty remaster/remake.

I didn't see those discussions, excuse me for trying to talk about strategy games on the strategy game board. Old games get talked about all the time here, are you going to comment in the AOE general that it's a 20+ year old game and there's nothing to discuss?

>Still not getting it
It's shit game that has been talked to death, you dumb twat. There is literally NOTHING to discuss with it, because everything was already said. It has no MP, it has zero lasting power and it has no new content, so there is nothing new to add.
How fucking hard it is to grasp, you moron?

In that case why is EU5 still getting multiple threads, according to this board its a shit game that's fundamentally flawed and will never be good. Why is Rise of Nations getting threads when it's a dead series.
Maybe you don't represent the whole board and someone else wants to talk about it, maybe people don't live on this board and saw the discussions years ago

>EU5
Because it came out 3 months ago, so it's a new game that is both fresh and still in a post-release patching phase.
>RoN
Because it still has a very active MP with strong, dedicated playerbase
Meanwhile you are trying to have a thread about genuinely bad game from 4 years ago, that is a remake of a mediocre game from 20 years ago. All while being overpriced, if it wasn't flawed already, so even less incentive for it to have staying power.
Seriously nigga, how can you be this dumb? Because you clearly aren't pretending, this is all genuine stupidity. Just because you came late for the show doesn't mean you are allowed to be this fucking dense.

>I want to talk strategy games
>Except I only want to talk this one specific game
>That everyone but me moved from years ago
>And they did so, because it's shit
>But I want to discuss it anyway
What you want to discuss, hm? What specific aspect of this game you find worthy of discussion? Is it how the archers are useless (after they were OP as fuck)? Is it how brain-dead and suicidal AI is manual combat? Is it the broken economic model, where you simply need to keep restarting the game until you get optimal resources? Or how awful Unity is and how badly the Bulgarians implemented it into their game? Or how the MP is ghost town, since nobody is willing to play a broken game that runs like shit?
Or you have no idea what you want to even discuss yourself, but got all huffy after being called a dumb fucking zoomer and then proving everyone that it was a very on-point description?

I've played a few rounds a few weeks ago. That's all you can do in this game as it gets repetitive super quick.
It's fun though. An arcade-style EU5 for retards like me where you can do 7 Kingdoms style spy shenanigans. Everyone here should get it on a discount for the occasional shitposting game.

not op, i know this may come as a huge shock to a terminally online retard that doesnt actually play games and just sits on vst all day shitposting, but not everyone does that and some people may have missed a thread about games that aren't very popular and...get this may want to actually talk to other people about them...fucking mental i know

I have noticed there's definitely an optimal way to play and it does make games samey. I do like that you can easily make a scattered world start though and edit how big or small you start off. It's obviously not as deep as EU but at the same time you feel like your actually playing a game and not just managing spreadsheet data values.

1:1 same gameplay loop as the first game.
A bit more fleshed out vassal skill system.
Cooler looking campaign map.
3D battles not as impressive when compared to total war titles, probably should have stuck to 2d, it had it's charm.
"Your kingdom advantages, sire!"
Epic new music.
Easy to mod.
Feels like it was made for fans of the first game, doesn't have much to pull in new players.
