I really like the experimental techno that developed alongside the EDM and House scenes. Moby started in Dance and kinda went to the other. Aphex Twin...some hate him.
but that shit is my jam.

looks not very cozy. you can tell the crowd is a bunch of rented BMW drivers and other egocentric people trying to pose for their homies or fuck rave-sluts. I don't get how they got lost on the way to the concert of some muslim rapper, but I would not stay near them much less take any drugs.

It seems the hardest thing on the planet unless maybe you download some sketchy do-it-all software. So here's how I have tried it:
>Use yt-dlp to download songs
>Try to choose the format with the lowest size and preferably mp4 or webm
>Pray, sometimes its below 4-6mb usually its much more.
>Mess around in Shotcut, kdenlive or ffmpeg
>None of the actions are consistent always a different result, dont really understand it after all
>Always requires a lot more work than I imagine
>Eventually say FUKIT and just give up
Here maybe not strictly techno but very, very hard
https://youtu.be/rJBVF-nrOjE
1:27:40 is my favorite but nearly the entire hour and half is filled with bangers

>yt-dlp -F ${yt vid url}
choose the one you want with the appropriate size, that vid i chose
>yt-dlp -f 251+242 https://www.youtube.com/watch\?v\=rJBVF-nrOjE
downloads the whole vid
load the vid in kdenlive
chose the moment you want, use keyboard shortcuts "I" and "O" to create the sequence you want
right click on the sequence and chose extract zone
post webm

I never trust those random programs but maybe its ok
>>6091403
Yes I use yt-dlp and kdenlive but with this method I will get the wildest file sizes. I havent got all those things installed now. How is this not a gamble for you. Often you have to mess with compression, resolution and whatever and its so annoying and complicated. I never find the motivation to really learn it all.

>I never trust those random programs but maybe its ok
I suppose I can't say "just trust me bro" as the developer, but it's a python script that makes calls to ffmpeg (and yt-dlp if necessary) and otherwise just uses math to figure out the webm parameters.
https://github.com/chameleon-ai/webm-for-4chan
If you don't trust the script, the readme has a link to a fairly comprehensive webm guide if you are interested in learning how to do it yourself.

the "-F" flag lists the different streams with their sizes
choose the stream id you want for the size you want
that example i chose id 251 and id 242
then the "-f" flag lets you download the specifc stream id you want. just use a "+" sign if you want audio+video stream
youtube already encodes in vp9 and opus, so i mostly chose those streams, no encode necessary in those cases, you just trim the vid with kdenlive.
vid related i grabbed the audio stream from the youtube vid, and encoded it with ffmpeg with a looped gif
had to encode it three times to get an acceptable size, more a gamble in this case

>had to encode it three times to get an acceptable size, more a gamble in this case
Are you using crf or something? When using 2 pass average bitrate, webm size is not a gamble, it's math and the exact size can be calculated.
>>
>>6091426
yeah i'm using crf, desu rarely encode so i haven't thought about 2 pass
ai says the math is bitrate (kbps)=(target size (MB)×8192−audio bitrate (kbps)×duration (s))/duration (s)
is that what i should be doing?
>>
>>6091435
Yes more or less.
Just remember that audio and video are specified in kilobits per second, and /wsg/ size limit is 6MiB which is a factor of 8 (bits -> bytes) and a difference in 1k = 1000 for ffmpeg and 6M = 6*1024*1024 for the purpose of the file size limit.
You can do it in one pass but 2-pass produces better video quality. Basically any webm encoder worth its salt is going to use 2-pass. handbrake for example. For music webms with a static image, video bitrate is basically negligible and you calculate max audio bitrate according to audio length and make sure you have a few KB to spare.

There was this one video posted here showing 2 girls from the late 90's or early 2000's dancing in some European TV show with a blue light background and there was this French act performing the song in the background. I think it had the word "sky" or "house" in it and I found it once but now I forgot the name of the band or the title. Does anyone remember it?

Alex Christensen (U96) probably used STSpeech (or a similar software) on an Atari ST computer for the voice samples. And I'm pretty sure the whole song was done using an Atari ST because of its MIDI features.
https://archive.org/details/stspeech.st
I just tested it with an Atari ST emulator and it almost sounds identical.
