The real reason for the downfall of 'real' ASMR isn't really thots, or simps, or women, or coomers, etc.
It's the fact that for years now ASMR has been irreversibly associated with sleep. The moment people started including it in their sleep routines the focus shifted from "Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response" to inducing sleep and relaxation, regardless of the original sensation it referred to. Most people now use it to be put at ease just before they go to bed (or while they're in bed), to fall asleep better and faster. Guess what put most non-deranged people at ease? In fact I think the whole issue would be solved if 'real' ASMR enthusiasts came up with a different name or term for their niche interest and tried to dissociate it from bedtime and sleep as much as possible.
